Druids Eye

Osiris awoke sometime later. The sun was starting to sink from its azimuth in the sky, a dull throbbing in his eye. He felt like he had no strength left, to the point where he could barely open his eyes. Wait, eyes? Osiris would never forget the pain he had gone through, constantly reminded of it by the ache in his skull. He pondered this for a brief moment, then remembered that just before he passed out, he felt an agonizing yet cool sensation in his eye. Perhaps the druid had healed him. When he was a child, he had heard of the druid's power, not only to destroy but also to heal.

Noticing his movement, Sylixis sped over to him. "Don't move, you need to rest." She hurriedly said. She then looked at him, contemplating what she should say. "I'm really, really sorry. I just kinda went overboard and..." the druid continued to spew words of apology until Osiris stopped her.

"It's fine; it was an accident," Osiris said between groans. He then tried to sit up from the pile of vines he had been laid on. Before he could move any further, Sylixis gently forced Osiris back onto the cluster of vines despite his protests. The Knight Slayer Sighed. "What did you do to my eye? It's... there," Osiris trailed off.

Sylixis smiled a sheepish kind of smile before answering. "It's not really your eye.." She said. Osiris was a little taken aback by her comment but decided to let her speak. "You see, human eyes are really complex from what I've heard. Not only that, but I haven't had to heal an eye before, so I wouldn't even know where to begin." The druid said.

"Then how do I have an eye?"

"Well... it's sorta mine. I don't know how to heal an eye but I already had one, so I just used that one..."

Osiris was dumbfounded for many reasons. Sylixis seemed to take notice of his dazed state and rushed to answer. "You see, or, well I assume that human and druid eyes aren't too different..." She let out a nervous chuckle. "And with a bit of magic, it should just work itself out!" She chirped.

For a being that Osiris assumed to be countless years old, she seemed... inexperienced, at least in the field of medicine and anatomy. Osiris wasn't much better, considering he had never received an education from a school or academy, relying solely on his mother's teachings before she passed. Yet, even with his poor education, he knew it wasn't a good idea for someone to give you their eye. Osiris was brought back from his reverie by Sylixis's voice.

"And hey, you can see, right!?" She said as she waved a hand in front of Osiris's face. The Knight Slayer nodded. It was true, by some twist of fate or magic that he could see. However, Osiris soon noticed something odd, the hand Sylixis had waved in front of him had an odd glow to it, like it was radiating magic. He soon realized that everything he could see had the same strange shimmer.

After pointing it out to Sylixis, her eyes ignited in unconcealed delight before explaining the phenomena. "That's something that all druids have. It allows us to see magic outside of spells, like the residue from a casted spell. The brighter something is, the more magic it holds or had. To see the magic around you, you have to have a constant flow of magic in your eyes, or eye in your case, which druids have very fine control over." She paused her explanation and looked at Osiris, a speculative gaze on her face. "But, I'm not sure about you, you'll have to deal with it at the very least until the eye finishes assimilating. Then you will have to fine-tune your magic so it avoids your eye." The druid finished.

Osiris spent a while grasping the information Sylixis gave him, then he asked a question. "Do you still hold any connection to the eye?"

Sylixis looked a little surprised at the question, for a moment she considered it. "I might be able to, let me see." For a moment she closed her eyes and concentrated, then Osiris suddenly felt an odd sensation, like another person was peering out from his eye. Then as soon as it appeared it vanished. "Yeah, it seems I can see through your eye. But I probably won't be able to do this after it fully assimilates."

Osiris nodded, seemingly content. Then a moment later, stood. Sylixis eyed him warily, prepared to catch him. However, he was stable as he managed to move without stumbling. He then turned to Sylixis and said something that was quite befuddling. "Thank you for the spar." He said, a small smile appearing on his lips. She stood there shocked, she had expected anger or perhaps indifference, not a smile, especially not after losing his eye. However, she wouldn't question his kindness. Perhaps he realized something that made him grateful. Sylixis however had no clue what it was.

He then asked Sylixis to create a small pool of water with her magic, obliging she summoned a small pool of water, curious as to what Osiris needed to water for. Then Osiris looked down into the water, looking for something. Soon he found his reflection. Instead of two icy blue eyes staring back at him he found one was now radiant emerald green. After a few moments, he allowed Sylixis to dispel the mirror of water, thanking her in the process.

Osiris then made his way to Dusk who was munching on some grass on the other side of the clearing, who was completely unaware of the wound his master had sustained. Osiris then turned and told Sylixis that he should start moving. He was then met with a plethora of protests saying he needed to rest more. However, he had an Amulet to retrieve and only a limited amount of time to do so.

"Don't you also have a place you need to be?" Osiris questioned as he mounted Dusk. "And if you're really concerned, can't you just use the eye?" He pressed. Sylixis found this reasonable, she had a place she needed to be and knew that whatever Osiris was after was important.

The Knight Slayer watched the druid who had taken his eye and gave him one last wave as he sauntered by on Dusk, finally back on the trail that would lead him to the Maw, as well as the first shard of the Amulet of Soaric.
