ON THE LINE
Three nights later, a scared low level criminal named Turk Barrett runs through the streets, shooting into the darkness. Meanwhile, the new recruits watches from the cave along with Andrea, Jill and Ben. Ben then walks around with tea.
"Would anyone like a cup of tea?" Ben asks.
Jill and Andrea take a cup.
"Thank you, Ben." Andrea says.
Ben then turns to the recruits.
"Tea?" Ben asks.
"No thanks." Stephanie says.
"I'll take some." Tim says with a smile.
"Thanks. So what are we watching?" Jaime asks.
"Turk Barrett. Frequent flyer at The Raft. Seems like the only thing he's good at is getting arrested." Jill says.
"Not much of a challenge for Spider-Bat." Jaime says with a smile.
"Peter's not looking for a challenge. This is about teaching the three of you what happens out there and how to handle it." Jill says.
Back on the street, Turk aims his gun to shoot again but a batarang knocks it out of his hand. A web is then shot onto his wrist and gets hung up from a rooftop.
"Oh man, dudes gonna get it now." Tim says.
Peter then sticks on the side of the building and grabs Turk by the shirt.
"Black Mask. Where is he?" Peter demands to know.
"Who's Black Mask?" Stephanie asks.
"A crime boss from Hells Kitchen. Peter had a run in with him a few months ago. Now he's back. " Jill says.
"I want a location. Now!" Peter demands again.
"I can't. Come on, man. He'll kill me."
Peter then pulls out a batarang.
"And what do you think I'm going to do?" Peter asks.
"He's not gonna actually kill him, right?" Stephanie.
"No, of course not, Ms. Pryde. But in order to get the information he needs, he must make him think he will." Ben says.
"So he's never killed anyone while doing this?" Tim asks.
"Spider-Bat doesn't kill. That's his number one rule, along with not using a gun." Andrea says.
"You're not gonna do it." Turk says.
"Tell me where Mask is hiding and I won't have to." Peter replies.
"Everybody on the street knows you don't kill."
Peter glares at Turk for a moment, before starting to cut his web with the batarang.
"Alright! Alright! Look I met him in an abandoned building on the corner of cutler across from the deli. I don't know if he's still there but that's all I know." Turk finally says.
Peter pauses for a moment, before putting up the batarang.
"The cops will be here to take you in before the webbing dissolves." Peter says as he swings away.
"Hey! You can't leave me up here! Come on man you gotta-"
Peter then webs his mouth closed before fully swinging away.
"So, what did we learn?" Jill asks.
"Don't piss Peter off." Jaime jokingly says.
"Yes. But also information, Master Morales." Ben says.
"When Peter gets back here, he's going to ask me to get hack into every camera on Cutler and monitor the building around the clock to see if Black Mask ever shows up. I am going give you three copies of the surveillance footage, Peter wants you to study them very closely." Jill says.
"And then he'll let us get out on the field?" Stephanie asks.
At that moment Peter swings into the cave.
"Not yet. I still need to see how you work together. Tomorrow we start combat training." Peter says.
"Finally. No offense to the computer chick but this stuff is super boring." Stephanie says.
"Hey, offense super taken." Jill says.
Peter chuckles.
"Go home. Get some rest. You're going to need it. You impress me in here, then I'll let you impress me out there." Peter says.
As the recruits leave, Andrea wraps her arms around Peter.
"You are going to take it easy on them, won't you honey?" Andrea asks.
Peter smiles.
"I did I take it easy on Jason?" Peter asks.
Andrea sighs, giving Peter a kiss.
"I'll get the first aid kit ready." Andrea says.
Meanwhile, Black Mask is talking to his assistant Ms. Li about luring out Spider-Bat.
"How are you planning on drawing out Spider-Bat?"
"We're going to need something big. Something that will definitely get his attention."
At that moment on the TV, a news report comes on about a Parker Industries Science event to display their newest inventions. When Black Mask sees Peter Parker on the screen a smile appears on his face.
"I think I just found our bait." Black Mask says.
The next morning, the new recruits all yawn in the cave, standing infront of Peter who is wide awake.
"We have to talk about these early mornings." Tim says.
"Seriously, a rooster is some where sleeping." Jaime says.
Peter smirks, then walks over and taps a line on the floor.
"On the line." Peter says.
The recruits look at each other for a moment, before slowly walking to the line.
"Now what?" Stephanie asks.
"It's simple. Get past me, and ring that bell." Peter says, pointing at the bell behind him.
"How long has that been there?" Jaime asks.
"Can we use our powers?" Stephanie asks.
Peter shrugs.
"As long as you ring that bell, it doesn't matter to me." Peter says.
"Alright. Let's play." Tim says.
After a few minutes of waiting, Tim is the first to run at Peter. Peter then easily takes down Tim with a flip. Stephanie then comes in, running straight through Peter but when she turns back into solid, Peter sweeps her legs from under her. Jaime then triggers her suit and flies foward. Peter smirks, jumping into the air and stomping him into the ground. As the recruits are on the ground in pain, Peter walks back to stand infront of the bell.
"On the line." Peter says.
The recruits slowly get back to their feet and walks back to the line. Over and over again they try to ring the bell and over and over again they are easily stopped by Peter.
"Ok, I can't stand anymore." Stephanie says.
"My bones are screaming at me." Jaime says.
Peter chuckles while tying his tie.
"Well, you guys take break from training for now. But when I get back from the event, I want you three to tell me why you think you can't ring the bell." Peter says as he leaves the Batcave.
At that moment, Jaime's suit retracts, shocking everyone there.
"Uh, dude.... You're naked." Tim awkwardly says.
Jaime screams out in embarrassment, quickly covering himself up.
"This always happens when I suit up. How embarrassing." Jaime says.
"Master Peter should have clothes that are your size. I'll go fetch it as quickly as possible, it gets quite chilly down here." Ben says.
While that's happening, Peter is standing infront of many people, talking about Parker Industries newest invention.
"For years, everyone has been trying to achieve clean energy. This device I'm calling the Plasma Breeder, cool name I know, can duplicate the conditions of the sun and has the potential to power four countries simultaneously. You may clap now." Peter says.
As the crowd applaud, Peter walks down from the stage and gets a kiss from Andrea.
"You know, you were pretty hot up there." Andrea says.
Peter smiles.
"Wanna sneak out early and go home for a little alone time?" Peter suggests.
"Yes I do." Andrea immediately replies.
As the two start to leave, Peter's Spider-Senses goes off.
"Peter, what's wrong?" Andrea asks.
Before he can answer, masked men with guns enter the building and start shooting into the crowd, killing Peter's security guards. As the masked men come towards Peter, he quickly puts Andrea behind cover, and is about to fight but remembers that people are watching. He then puts his hands up and is grabbed by the men and is taken away.
