Makenzie lunged over Monica’s dead form. Grabbing Bennett by the throat.
“Thanks for that old buddy.” The shifter sneered. Long fangs shining. “I thought I’d be the one to have to put her down when all this was finished.”
From his strangle hold, Bennett looked at Monica’s dead body. “It was all a set up.” He said. “You never meant to let her live.” Even though she’d betrayed him, twice. Bennett had cared for her at one time. They were friends since childhood. Killing her while she fought at Makenzie’s side, was never something he thought he’d do.
And yet he had.
Now Makenzie had him in a tight death grip and was laughing about it.
"You won't be laughing for long," Bennett said through gritted teeth. "Things are about to change. It's time you pay for the things you've done."
