chapter 4

Camryn's POV

My life had been tragic and miserable since my mom and dad died when I was twelve years old. I will never forget how my parents died in front of my own eyes and the person who had ended their lives leaving me alone and vulnerable. Sealing my fate to the one who had murdered them.

The one who killed them was my father's brother.

My uncle.

I was only a child back then, naive and unaware as to why they had to die at the hands of his own brother. They didn't even do anything that can harm others nor they aren't criminals either to sentence their lives to death.

My only memory of that time is that we are living happily and quietly in a place deep in the forest. Away from other wolfs like us.

I always asked my mom, why we are living alone and away from their pack.

They just often say that it's their choice and it's the life they want.

To live peacefully with no one who can hurt them, especially their only child.

And that was me.

I really didn't get at that time, why they are so protective of me. They never let me go play far from our home.

It's just us.

They never tell me the truth about them. About their pack.

About who they really are.

Until one day, that dreadful day for me.

Flashback:

I was about to go to sleep when my mom suddenly entered my room. She looks anxious and frightened. I feel like she's tense about something.

Sitting up from my bed, while she approached me and sat beside me. And that's when I noticed her eyes were puffy and red like she's been crying.

"What is it, Mom? Have you been crying?" confusion clouded my mind.

"Sweetheart, I know you have a lot of questions about our family, about us."

I nod my head and urge her to continue.

"And I know this is not the right time for you to know everything but I felt like I need to tell it to you now before anything happen to us."

"Don't speak like that Mom. Nothing bad will happen to us. As long as we are here. As long as we have each other."

My mom look at me as if it would be the last time she would see me.

"Oh my dear Camryn, my little sweetheart. You know that your father and I love you so much. That's why we want what's best for you. And that is why we keep you safe here, away from your father's pack. Because you are so precious to us and you are the gift of our love."

Her eyes are gleaming with unshed tears that are threatening to fall. She then holds my hand with hers. Sighing deeply as she continues to speak.

"We have already told you about what we are right? That we are werewolves."

I nod my head and smile at her.

"And about your own wolf. You will have your wolf when you reach the age of sixteen."

"Yes Mom, I already know about this. And I know you know that I'm really excited to meet her and be a part of each other. That I will never be alone anymore."

Mix emotions are filling me up about this conversation with Mom.

"Alright, then I will tell you about mates."

Confusion once again clouded me.

"When you reach the age of sixteen and have your wolf then there's the possibility that your wolf may find your mate."

"Ok, mom. I'm so confused and puzzled about this mate you're talking about. Please explain it more."

"You are really so impatient sweetheart. Ok so here it goes. Mates are the Moon Goddess's gift to us. To you. Your mate is your better half. He will be the love of your life. Just like your father and I. We are mates, sweetheart. We are destined to be with each other for eternity. Just like us, just like what we have of your father. You will also soon meet your mate. Who would protect you and love you truly."

She smiled at me then keep on.

"I just wish your mate will love you with all of his heart, respect you, and protect you no matter what."

But then her smile faded as she continue.

"In this world, there are so many cruel things that can happen. It's not always happy ever after. There will always be a time that your love for each other will put you to the test. Of how much you love each other, of how important you are to each other. And there will be people who would always try to break you and may harm you. When that time comes sweetheart, I want you to be brave, to be tough. Don't be afraid to fight for your right and to what is right. I need you to be strong. Trust yourself and always trust your wolf."

"Alright Mom, I will remember that. But what's all of this? Why are you saying these to me?"

"As I've said Camryn, this is not the right time for you to know. For you are still a child but I really need to tell it to you, sweetheart."

"About what mom?"

"About us. About how we ended up here living with nothing but just us."

"It's been very hard for the family and to the pack of your father when they found out that I'm his mate. And the fact that your father turns out to be the son of an Alpha and he will soon be the Alpha of their pack. I've already known in the very first place that they will never ever accept me as your father's mate."

"But why Mom?"

"It's because... I am a rogue."

I am shocked at what my mom had just revealed about her. She had already told me about rogues and I felt sorry for her.

"You do know that every pack, they hate and disgusted the rogues. But not all wolves that have been rogue are bad and amoral. Like me, my pack and my alpha had excluded me from the pack for accusing me of the crime that I didn't even do and there's nothing I could do about it."

Sadness fills my heart for what my mom had been through.

"Sweetheart, don't be sad. You're father had loved me since the day we met. Even though I'm a rogue, he accepts me and loves me just the way I am. And I am so blessed and was very happy about it. You're father had fought for me, fought for our love. He even chose me over his own pack and give up the title of being an Alpha just for me. But his father wouldn't let us be together. So he tried everything just to separate us. But he failed, for our love is stronger, and being true mates is very hard to break for the bond we have. On the other hand, your father's brother, his ambitious brother wants us to be gone so the position of being an Alpha would be passed to him."

Wanting to hear more of her stories, I prefer to be silent and just listen to her.

"Then a wonderful thing happen to us and that is I got pregnant with you. We were so blessed and thrilled at the same time for having you because finally your father and I are having our own family. When your grandfather heard the news, he suddenly changed. Slowly, he accepts me as your father's mate. And that's all because of you, Camryn. Your grandfather was very excited knowing he would be a grandfather soon and it secure their legacy, assuring that there is already next in line to be an Alpha. Your father's brother who is your uncle was furious about it. And then he did a terrible thing."

She became so serious and anger crossed her face.

"What happen Mom?"

"Your uncle had killed your grandfather. His own father."

Stunned by what my uncle did "Why mom? Why would he kill his father?"

"It's because your grandfather had already accepted us and that means that your father will become the new Alpha. He was outraged about it and wants the position of an Alpha for himself only. And that is why he killed his father and had set up your father to appear that he is the one who murdered their father. And so the pack accused him as the murderer. His brother was so cruel that he would do everything just to be the Alpha."

It broke my heart for what happened. I was even glad to know that I have a grandfather and make me sad that I didn't get to know him personally.

"And for what happened, your father decided to run away with me and leave the pack. For our lives are in danger, especially you. You were still in my womb yet your uncle wants to get rid of you to assure that no one could take away from him the position of being the Alpha."

Then my mom looks at me in the eyes, tears are slowly rolling down her cheeks as she caresses my face.

"Camryn, sweetheart that is why your father and I chose to live here, far away from your uncle. For we know, he will never stop to find us and may kill all of us. We just want to protect you. I know the time will come, the Moon Goddess will bless you and give you what you deserve for I know you are a very special one and what is rightfully yours. You will soon take what is really yours. Just be strong and never lose hope Camryn. Always believe in yourself."

I hugged my mom with all of my heart and we both cry.

Suddenly our moment was interrupted when my father barged into my room.

"He found us!" Terror strikes on his face as he continues to speak.

"After all these years that we've been hiding. He now found us! We need to go quickly!" he's pacing back and forth "We have to go now!"

Startled at his sudden loud voice booming in the room. My mom and I stand up immediately. Getting out of my room not caring if we didn't pack some of our things for it is not important now and besides what's more important is to get away from here as soon as possible.

Getting down the stairs, the door at the front suddenly flew and a man emerged from it.

His eyes are full of hunger and hatred.

Rooming his eyes around the house until they settled on us.

He then smiled. That wicked and menacing smile sent my whole body to tremble and shudder in fear.

"Hello brother" his voice was venomous and sardonic.

"Reunited at last" he then spoke, dripping with malice.

Not wasting any time, my father jumped the stairs crashing down right at his brother. Sending him backward out of the house. They both stumbled and rolled outside.

My mom and I quickly went outside to help my father but as we approach him, he yell at us and told us to run away quickly far away from them. But my mother insists that we all run away not wanting to leave my father.

Getting up, my father move towards my mom "Listen to me, Danica darling. You must take Camryn away from here and you know that. Protect her and be sure you are both safe. I will take it from here. I will end this now that I should have done long ago."

My mom is already crying as she spoke to my father "But how about you?"

"Don't worry about me, I can take care of myself."

"No, I won't leave you here alone fighting him. I won't let him break us" More tears are now streaming down her face.

Then I heard someone clapping his hands. Turning my attention to the sound coming and it was from my uncle.

"Well, well, well. What a sight to see. I've never seen like these in a long time but it's irritating me. Now that I've already found you, I will make sure that you cannot get away from me again! I will kill you all!"

Jumping midair, he then shifts to his grey wolf. Clawing his paws at my father. While my father pushes my mom away.

My father also shifted to his greyish-white wolf. Standing on four, he sent a vicious growl at his brother.

Running full force towards him, tackling him down on the dirt.

As they tussled each other, I approach my mom and was about to run when someone get a hold of me. Turning to see, two men holding both of my arms dragging me away.

I was kicking and screaming at them. As my mom tries to rescue me, two wolves blocked her way.

While my father still fighting his brother.

No one can save me from these men.

It's all on to me now but what am I supposed to do?

I'm still a child with no wolf within me.

Feeling hopeless and my heart is thumping louder like a drum ringing in my ears.

I've got to do something. I can't give up like this. Not now, for my mom and dad are also fighting with our lives, for our freedom.

Think Camryn, think fast!

As the two men keep me dragging away from my mom. I gathered all of my strength and bite hard at one of the men whose holding me. I didn't let go of him until blood comes out from his arms.

Cursing at me, he then let me go tending to his bleeding arms.

Turning at the other man, I kicked him on his manhood. Making him down on his knees, holding his manliness, howling in pain.

Not wasting my time, now that I'm free from their grasp, I ran towards my mom. I saw her fighting the two wolves and have not yet shifted to her wolf. Aiming for the other wolf that was biting her leg, I jumped unto the back of the wolf and straddled him. Startled at me, he let go of my mom and rolled himself on the ground throwing me off hard as my back hit the ground.

I heard my bones crack and felt like it's broken.

"Oh no! Camryn!" my mom shouts.

Seeing that I'm in so much pain, anger surged through her. As I see her wolf in her eyes. Holding the wolf by the neck that she's been fighting. She forcefully breaks the neck of the wolf and tosses aside its lifeless body.

Coming to me, the other wolf lunged at her. Its paws digging at the back of my mom. Still, she tries to reach me while the wolf continues to dig deeper into its paws as more blood is coming out.

"Please stop! You're going to kill my mom!" I scream at the top of my lungs, seeing my mom struggles to get away from the wolf.

Suddenly, the wolf staggered backward as my father's wolf form tear the hind legs of the wolf and viciously attack it.

"Don't you dare turn your back on me just to save your pathetic mate!" his brother roared in hatred, who shifted back to his human form.

My father also shifted back to his human form. "You don't have to do this, Ace. I have no longer interested to be the Alpha of the pack. It's all yours. Just let us be and live in peace" his eyes are full of concern and hope. Hope for his brother would consider what he's offering.

"Are you out of your mind? I will never let you go away easily! Listen to me Anthony and listen to me carefully! For this will be the last words you will hear! I WILL KILL YOU!"

After saying those words, he then strikes my father. His claws extended, swiping hard at my father's chest. Not backing down, my father lash out at his brother.

I tried to get up, but failed miserably for my back still hurts from falling hard.

It's now hopeless.

I am hopeless.

It's impossible for me to help my parents for I still don't have my wolf.

I can't do anything but just hopelessly watch them with tears blurring my vision.

I spot my mom striving to stand up from the damage she got from the wolf that had attacked her. Exerting all of her strength, she rushed to my Uncle Ace to charge at him but she suddenly stopped. Frozen in place and let a loud cry.

"Nooooooooo.....!!!!!!!!"

Fear coursed through my whole body at what I saw.

My father, struggling to stand still. Trying all his strength that's what's left. A silver, knife had cut through deep into his chest.

Right through his heart.

I didn't even notice that his brother had a silver knife.

A vicious victory smile painted his face.

"You didn't see this coming! I came prepared just for you! Brother!"

Calling my father his brother was sickening to hear.

I was crying hard now and all I see was my tears clouding me.

And the next thing that happen made me cry even more.

My mother ran full force to Uncle Ace but before she can attack him, he had my mother by her neck. Holding it firm. Choking her to death. While his other hand held the silver knife through my father's chest.

Realization hit me hard.

My parents now are gone.

They are now both dead!

DEAD.

I felt like I was running out of air and that I forgot to breathe at what just happened.

The lifeless body of my parents lying on the ground and I can't even reach them.

I am so useless!

It's now pointless to continue to live!

"Please just kill me too! Kill me now!"

I beg him to kill me for it's worthless now that my parents are gone.

"End my sufferings! Please! Just end it all!"

I was crawling now to him.

He walked up to me and strangle my hair.

"You filthy child, I have a better plan for you. I will let you live for now." Laughing so loud that it aches to hear.

I couldn't do any but just to scream and cried so hard that I felt numb until darkness takes me.

-End of flashback-

Closing my eyes hard as a tear escaped. All of the memories are coming back to me.

So painful memories.

Here I am now at the pack of my father or should I say my uncle's pack, my Alpha.

Alpha Ace.

He took me that day with him.

It's been six years had passed.

Every day he assured me that I always struggle to live. That I was strained to live. He was ruthless to me.

I get punished and beaten every day. Living bruises and scars all over my body.

My life had been hell since the day he took me under his mercy.

If I have one thing to be grateful for is that now I'm not at least alone because I now have my own wolf.

She is fiercer and tougher than me. That sometimes I let her take control just to protect and save me.

Save me from the pack tormenting and abusive doings at me. They all maltreat me and let me do all the house chores at the pack house.

Like now, it's the birthday of the daughter of the Alpha, which is my cousin, Savannah.

Sometimes she's mean to me and sometimes she treats me good.

I really just don't get her but maybe she's just scared of her father if she tries to be close to me and be good to me.

I know deep in her heart there's a good side to her.

I am on my way to her room to deliver her dress when I stopped suddenly at her door.

Remembering that frightful day with my parents.

If maybe they are alive right now, then maybe just maybe I'm not so miserable and downcast like this.

I can't even remember when was the last time I celebrated my birthday or I had forgotten when is it.

The door to Savannah's room opened. There appears Savannah looking angry. Taking me out of my reverie.

"Took you so long to get this!" Snatching the dress from me then roughly slummed the door shut.

Sighing deeply, gathering my emotions to not be so emotional right now. I have still so many tasks to do and the party is about to start.

I need to work quickly so that before the party could start, I could retreat and be hidden away from them.

And be lost in my own world.

This is a long chapter that I've written so far! With 3,590 words! Yay! I can't make it any shorter.
