Wren's POV
Ralph's voice came from outside the door; his voice lowered, just like when he was angry with Hayden before.
"Hayden, I don't understand why you keep doing this. I meant what you said. I warned you to stay away from Wren," he growled.
"Why?" Hayden walked to the door, seemingly provoked, and knocked on the door twice. "You seem to have gotten something wrong, Ralph. Shouldn't it be you who should stay away from her now?"
The outside of the door became quiet; even the sound of clothing rubbing disappeared.
Hayden chuckled. "Didn't you just agree not to disturb her this morning? It seems that your word means nothing, doesn't it?"
Ralph didn't say anything because it felt like I could feel his anger building.
Hayden continued, "I wasn't eavesdropping. I was walking by when I heard you pleading with Wren to open the door. He paused and casually tapped the door with his knuckles before saying, "Don't worry, Wren is safe with me."
