Chapter 50: The Scent

“I’m sorry, Rowan. I just… I can tell that my brother cares for you deeply, and it worries me that he will get hurt. I know many things need to be discussed, and I know that something is going on with you. I just don’t want whatever it is to destroy him. He is very important,” Cass admitted to her.

Rowan felt a twist of guilt roll through her as she looked into Cass’s eyes. Both Cass and Fyn knew she was hiding something, and though she wanted to deny it, she really couldn’t without solidifying the idea in their heads.

Rowan sat back down at the table and squeezed his hand gently. “Cass, I care for Fyn just as deeply. The very last thing I want to do is hurt him. If anything happened to him, I would be devastated.”

She watched as Cass visibly relaxed. “Good.”

Rowan pulled back slightly. “Good?”
