Why Me?

Jasper's POV

I was surprised to hear Charlotte apologize, even when I was there, still speaking on her behalf. This demeanor really marvels's me, this is one thing that kept drawing me closer to her.

She really isn't afraid of anyone, I know that she must have a reason to apologize to her father on her mom's request, but to be frank, I am not angry at her in any way.

"Happy!" She asked her mom, who didn't reply but engaged her in another hug.

They both stayed in that position for a while before they finally left each other. I looked around my environment and observed that it was only her sister and Stefan that were present in the hall, excluding the two mouthpiece of the moon goddess.

"Alpha, meet my best friend Alpha Anthony, he's more like a brother to me but because of the urgency of my swearing in Ceremony, I didn't get to inform him about it." I decided to break the awkward silence.

Alpha Anthony slightly bowed, respecting the elderly Alpha, before he spoke up."I'm Indeed delighted to meet you in person."

"Yes, It's Indeed an honor to stand in front of you."

Alpha Durango's words almost made me chuckle, but then I held the urge to do that loudly."Oh, my bad, I haven't yet introduced myself to you since your husband over here doesn't find the need to do so."

His words made me remember that I haven't introduced him to Charlotte."It slipped my mind, come on, don't make it sound like we're enemies." I said while staring at the joy killer.

"Charlotte, this is my best friend Anthony, and she's my mate and wife, as you already know." I looked at Charlotte, who only spared me a glance before turning her whole attention to my friend.

"Good to meet you." She shook his stretched hands with a broad smile on her lips.

"Will you love me to treat you to a drink?" Anthony asked her, knowing that she will willingly accept his offer, I beat her to her words.

"No need, we need to go somewhere together, so if you all wouldn't mind, We will love to take our leave right now." I slipped my hands around her back yet again and carried her in a bridal style while walking down the altar.

"Put me down right now." She demanded in a low voice while still wrapping her hands around my neck firmly, I think the mate bond is really making her do contrary to her words.

I saw how Stefan was staring at us, his eyes following each of my steps, and the look on his face can't be overlooked because it is very visible to begin with. I have to warn him to stay clear off my territory or else he won't like the side of me which he will be forced to face.

"Hey, Stefan." I called out to him when I stood in front of him.

"Alpha Jasper, do you by any means need anything from me?" He asked, but his eyes were fixed on something else;my Luna, mine!

"Will you please show me to Charlotte's room?" I inquired from him with anger erupting from my lungs, I couldn't take his constant stare.

I bent my head and met Charlotte staring at him as well. Furthermore, I think these two have an unfinished business which I need to help them finish."I asked a question."

"I do apologize, but I don't think I can help you with that because I don't know where her room is." He replied, finally looking at my face with a gloomy expression.

Before I could ask any further questions, Rose, Charlotte's sister, chipped in,"Alpha Jasper, allow me to show you to it."

I only noticed her presence now, I looked at her side and nodded at her before she continued. "It's the last room in the hallway." She said to me while staring at Stefan, it was as though she noticed something fishy, but I couldn't point my finger at it.

"Thanks." I replied to her before walking closer to Stefan, but not without clutching Charlotte's head on my chest.

"Stay clear off my Luna, she's mine." I whispered into his ears before walking out of the Ceremonial hall.

Reaching at the exit of the hall, I turned back and glared at Stefan. He should better know his place.

"Put me down" Charlotte's voice brought me out of my reverie.

"We are almost there." I said to her while making my way towards their mansion.

"Jasper, put me down, or you wouldn't like what I will do next." She threatened with a widened eye that reminded me of how strong she is.

"Charlotte, didn't you hear what I said to you?" I said I was trying to use a domineering voice on her, but then…

"You better put me right down" She growled while hitting her fist on my chest. I would have been shocked if my tone earlier made her keep quiet, but as I expected, it didn't work whatsoever.

"Charlotte!" I yelled when the effect of her fist on my chest became unbearable. Her strength is something else, I must admit.

"Jasper!" She yelled back at me as she continued hitting my chest hard.

Finally sighting her room, I kicked it open with my shoes before walking into it and closing it, using my back to hit the door. I dropped her on the bed immediately and bounced on her, kissing her neck hungrily.

"Jasper, what are you doing?" She struggled while asking me that question, but I was too immersed that I didn't bother answering her.

I left her neck and slammed my lips on hers, kissing her forcefully, but then she kept shaking her head sideways, making me lose my patience entirely.

"Charlotte, what's your problem!

You are my mate, and we just had our swearing in Ceremony, so what on earth is your problem!" I growled loudly at her while holding her wrist tight.

She kept struggling, but it wasn't easy for her, as my hold on her wrist tightened the more. I bent over to kiss her again when I observed something shocking.

Tears dripped down her cheeks, I left her wrist instantly, then I heard her muffled voice.

"Why did you choose me?

Why me?"
