At the colorful porch, Isabelle invited his savior and brought him into her favorite spot among the rest. They were surrounded by daisies and jasmines that soothed their empty, longing hearts.
The sun shone brightly as it used to be always. Sunrays touched on their faces covered with undeniable happiness. Once again, they had finally met each other after a long time. But only the man recognized everything about her.
"You got a beautiful place, indeed! I dreamed to have flowers in my house too, but everything changed when I fell in love with someone else instead of my soon-to-be-wife before." He started when he noticed that she seemed quiet and uneasy.
He didn't want to force Isabelle to remember him after what had happened eight years ago. He let go of her like a coward warrior who chose to retreat than fight against the enemies. A young, wild alpha didn't know what was true love before.
Until now, the past kept in his heart and soul. Even how hard he tried to forget Isabelle; it always came back to the place where she used to be. There was no other place in the world, but only in his heart.
Whatever happened, he must win her heart back. This time around, he would do everything until Isabelle remembered her past and forgive him.
In the past eight years, he suffered too much because of guilt and pain. He put the blame on him since the moment he woke up and realized that she was gone. She left because he didn't stop and embrace her tightly enough to convince the lonely vampire.
Isabelle stared at his face when he mentioned his soon-to-be wife. At some point, a sharp thing was pricked into her heart that confused her. She didn't know why she felt jealous all out of a sudden.
He was merely a stranger who saved her life from the kidnappers. Sincere gratitude would be enough, yet, she trusted herself and let him enter her house without Professor Gretta's permission.
Isabelle slightly tilted her head to ease the agony within. It has been a while since she felt the same pain, eight years ago. She sighed as she crossed her legs and looked away from his deep, tantalizing eyes.
"I am truly grateful to meet a good Samaritan like you. I wish you will continue your great purpose until the rest of your life," she told him without a blink of an eye. Her knees were shaking, but she gritted her teeth that had released the fear beneath her chest.
"By the way, would you mind if I'll ask your name? It's pretty hard to have a conversation with someone without asking it first, am I right?" Isabelle smiled at him. It was the first moment that he saw such a beautiful smile that showed on her lips.
His heart skipped a beat as he could at least stare at her bright face. Slowly, he would take her back into his side and would never let her go.
"Devin… Devin Mondragon," he paused when her eyes widened. He thought she was only faking it, but Isabelle truly had forgotten her past. "W-why? Did I say something wrong to you? Tell me!" He said desperately.
"It's not your fault, Devin! But your name… there's something powerful in your name!"
Even she had temporary amnesia, there was a greater chance to recall her past. Isabelle was a vampire, she was one of the strongest, yet she was the loneliest among the rest. Her heart had been searching for its imperfect mate—a place she would call home.
"I know what you're trying to say, but it is your turn to tell me your name," Devin looked into her green eyes for seconds. He didn't want to lose this chance anymore as he had already gone through a lot of difficulties.
However, Isabelle was looking at the distance. Her hair was blown away by the cold wind as she thought the memories behind his name. She was certain with her instincts, but couldn't recall the exact moment with him.
At that moment, Isabelle was imprisoned by the blurry memory. After how many years, it was the only time where she felt happy. She couldn't control herself from smiling every time she met his mysterious gaze.
"I should leave now," Devin said seriously. He couldn't bear any longer to see Isabelle this way. What he'd imagined was different from reality, and that was the reason why he looked unhappy.
Seeing Isabelle was one of his achievements and he didn't want to rush things. If he truly liked her, he would let her think until the perfect time came. Devin took a sip of tea before he stood from the wooden chair. As soon as he grabbed the black, leather jacket, he took a deep breath that caught her attention.
Isabelle quickly stood straight and met his gaze for the last time. She was embarrassed for acting weird in front of a good-looking man like him.
Before she uttered a word, Isabelle held her breath as she stooped to his face. It was unexpected, but Devin hoped it would last forever. He could smell her favorite vanilla scent that almost provoked his desirous side.
He tried to control his emotion while she was an inch away from him. One wrong move, their lips would meet. But Devin was hesitant to kiss the woman he had been looking for almost a decade.
"Isabelle Swain. It's my pleasure to meet you, Devin Mondragon." She replied as she bit the bottom of her lip. At the same time, she slowly closed her eyes that drove him to be more aggressive like he used before.
Without a blink of an eye, Devin grabbed her waist closer to his chest. He was catching his breath as he looked into her crimson lips. Nothing could stop the alpha from winning her heart back.
Isabelle stiffened when she felt his warm body that touched against hers. There were no rational reasons why Isabelle felt this way. Her heart beat too fast, her ears were ringing inside, her knees were shaking not until he sealed her with a kiss and closed his eyes for seconds.
Both of them savored the moment that occurred once in a blue moon.
Isabelle has perhaps forgotten Devin Mondragon, but her heart recognized everything about him.
His deep, husky voice, his enchanting scent, the warmth of his body, and most especially the alpha's addictive touch.
