Chapter 6

Honey

We arrived at the Blue Lightning pack early on Friday morning. I was glad our trip was finally over. To say the past few days had been trying was greatly understating things.

We had stayed at a hotel a few hours away last night so everyone could get some much needed rest. The past few days had been draining and everyone had needed to get a good nights sleep. I had thought that I wouldn't be able to sleep, but fortunately I had fallen asleep the moment my head had hit the pillow. We had gotten up at dawn and packed everything up and went to the first open fast food restaurant we had come too. It had been a McDonalds. Tony and Cristi had wanted to get their caffeine fix on. We had all ordered hash browns, bacon n egg mcmuffins, chicken mcmuffins, and sausage n egg mcmuffins. We all ordered large coffees too, needing to give ourselves an energy boost.

The food was delicious. We had wolfed it down quickly. It had been the first time we had gone to get a meal and hadn't used the drive-thru. We had chosen to go inside to eat instead. Tony had said it was because he had wanted to relax in comfort. I don't know if that had been true or not, and honestly, I didn't really care. I was just enjoying the normalcy of that one small moment. Everyone had been quiet during our meal. I guess that, like me, they too had been lost in their own thoughts.

After we had finished our meal, we had used the bathroom facilities before going back out to the car and heading to our destination. Now, we had arrived at the Blue Lightning pack, and I had no idea what was in store for us.

Cristi

I looked out of the windscreen and felt the weight of the stress from the past few days lift. I was home. I was no longer alone. My family are with me now. I felt a surge of joy rush through me when I saw my father walk out the front door of the Alpha residence. He was standing on the front porch and watching us curiously. It was still early in the morning, so he was bound to be curious as to who would be turning up at such an early hour.

Excited to see him, I got out of the car and ran up to him, throwing my arms around him in a big hug. He hugged me back, and I felt the relief sweep through me, as I gave in to all the tension that had been holding me captive. I broke down and began crying like a baby as my father held me.

"Hey now Cristi girl, what is this crying now, huh?" my father asked, sounding concerned as he continued to hold me.

"Oh daddy, it has been so hard, so hard," I told him as I continued to cry.

"What's happened? Is it the boy? Is it Zac?" my father asked.

"No daddy, it's awful, it's so, so, awful..." I broke off as I continued to sob.

The front door opened, and I heard someone walk out onto the porch. It was only seconds later I heard my brother say, "Cristi, by the Goddess, is it really you?"

"It is really her Liam. As you can see your sister is upset, why don't you get your mother to come out here?" my father told him.

"Sure," Liam agreed, before going back into the house.

My father was still holding me, rubbing his hand in a circular motion across my back in a gesture of comfort when my mother came out onto the porch.

"Cristi! Oh my girl," she exclaimed as she joined my father in hugging me. "What has happened? Is she okay?" my mother asked my father. She sounded worried, and I figured that was fair. I must have looked quite a horrid sight.

"I am not sure, Amelia honey, she hasn't told me what is happening," my father told her.

"Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on?" Liam asked from his position behind me.

"I am not sure," my father repeated.

"Well, maybe we should go inside and get to the bottom of all this. It's freezing out here," Liam stated.

"Yes, let's do that. Come on Cristi, we will head inside and discuss this matter," my father said as he began to maneuver me towards the open front door.

"Wait! My family is in the car," I told him, looking at where the car was parked in the driveway.

"Come inside," Liam said, as he motioned to my family who were still seated in the car. I watched as the three of them began to slowly make their way out of the car and walk up the steps. Once they were on the porch, my brother gestured for them to enter the house. Once we were inside, we followed my mother who led us through to a sitting room and gestured for us to take a seat. Once everyone was seated, my brother asked, "So, what is going on?"
