Chapter 38 : Favor

I watch in horror as a standoff begins between the monster hunter and the two wolves.
Serena and Cain circle Lorenzo with their teeth bared. Lorenzo pulls out another knife out of nowhere. Cain’s wolf form is huge, and his fur coat is the same color as his hair. His movements are quick and sure. Serena’s fur is black. It looks like ocean water at night. She is small in her wolf form, and it makes me anxious as I stare at Lorenzo’s sharp knife.
The three opponents continue to circle each other as they look for an opening to attack. Of course, I’m relieved that Serena and Cain have come to rescue me, but that doesn’t mean that I want Lorenzo to die. The monster hunter had every opportunity to kill me, and he didn’t take it. But how do I ask Shane’s pack members not to kill Lorenzo?
