"Nicholas, let's go downstairs. Aren't you going to school?"
"Nicholas!!!"
[Knock...Knock...Knock]
The sound of a soft knock on the door came from outside the boy's room who was now wrapping his body in a thick blanket. Reluctant to wake up from his short slumber, today feels like skipping school, and staying in his room all day, thought Nicholas.
But he couldn't do that if he just lay on the bed without doing his routine activities.
"Nicholas,"
The voice appeared again, from behind his bedroom door. He thought that if the figure of a woman who was rarely in the house in the morning had long since left her previous position, it turns out that until now Laura is still faithfully waiting for her only child to wake up from his sleep.
"Woahhh, mom, I'm awake. I want to take a shower first," Nicholas said with a yawn and then opened the blanket that was still covering his face, his eyes immediately went wide, when he realized that it was his mother who had just woken him up.
Nicholas quickly sat up on the bed and patted his cheek. He thought it was still a dream in the already very bright morning.
"Is that you, Mom?" Nicholas shouted from inside the room, confirming that it was his mother who had woken him.
Because it could be said that he rarely found his mother at home and woke him up in the morning. He knew that his mother was very busy working in the restaurant.
"Come on down, breakfast is ready."
Nicholas could hear the voice of a familiar female figure replying to what he had just asked. And quickly, Nicholas jumped out of bed and rushed to take a shower.
That happy face was perfectly etched on Nicholas's face at this time, he was in the mirror in his bathroom, brushing his teeth, looking forward to seeing his mother soon.
After he finished brushing his teeth clean, he then had fun looking at his teeth in the mirror in front of him. He pursed his lips so he could see his teeth,
"Is it true that I have canines?" He said while examining his teeth which were so flat with no fangs at all. He immediately broke his daydream for a moment when he suddenly remembered something.
After finishing preparing, Nicholas grabbed his backpack that was on his study table,
[Voice from far away]
"Yes, today I will pay off the monthly allotment of this house,"
Nicholas immediately fell silent for a moment, when he heard his mother's conversation with the landowner who was always fighting over the rights to the house and land from his long-disappeared father.
Even though they were far apart, Nicholas could hear what his mother was saying.
He descended the stairs leading down, and straight in the direction where the dining room was.
"Wow, it smells so good, it must be delicious," Nicholas said with a smile to his mother who was now busy preparing her breakfast.
Laura turned her head, saw the arrival of her son, then gave Nicholas a small smile, then walked slowly towards Nicholas.
"I miss you haha," she said, hugging Nicholas tightly who was just about to take the waffle that had been prepared for him.
"Ahh, yes Mom, let's have breakfast first," said Nicholas, chuckling in response to what his mother had just said.
Even though he misses his mother if he is given a hug and a kiss on the cheek, sometimes Nicholas feels embarrassed and shy with his mother.
"Ah yes, come on hehe," replied Laura, sitting on the chair she had provided earlier.
At the brown wooden table, they now use to enjoy breakfast, the atmosphere seems so warm, even though this morning the weather is a bit cloudy and cold.
[Car Sound]
Nicholas' eyes fell silent and stared blankly ahead when he heard the familiar sound of a car.
"Richard's coming, he's coming for breakfast here, Mom,"
Nicholas suddenly said that, which confused his mother of course, and looked at her with a strange look.
"Ah, okay, where exactly is he now..."
"Excuse me, Nicholas..."
Laura hadn't had time to ask about the whereabouts of Nicholas's best friend, whom she had just been talking to. But now the man they were talking about was on the terrace of the house.
"Let mom open the door," Laura said as she stood up and rushed to the living room.
She slowly opened the door, and when she opened the front door, she was greeted by a casually dressed man, who was right in front of her.
Smiling so broadly, "You're at home? I thought you were going to work," said Richard, making small talk, his eyes couldn't stop to immediately see the whereabouts of his best friend.
"Ah, yes today I take a day off work, so I can stay at home. Let's go inside and have breakfast together," Laura answered, allowing Richard to enter the house, and of course to the direction where Nicholas was.
A happy expression appeared on Richard's face when he saw that his best friend was doing well.
She came closer to Nicholas and whispered from behind him, "You owe me a story," he said and immediately sat down next to Nicholas.
But Nicholas who heard those words from the man next to him just kept quiet with a small smile. Confirmed what was asked by Richard, without answering with his lips.
The three of them enjoyed breakfast together before finally, Nicholas said goodbye to his mother to go to school with Richard.
"Mum I'm leaving first, bye," Nicholas said while waving his hand, he left the dining room. And went with Richard to the black Jeep that was parked in front of his house.
"You won't believe it," said Richard as usual, always coming up with information that would be very useful to listen to.
"Just to the point, why..." Nicholas said to Richard as he opened the door of the Jeep and immediately got into the car.
"The news of the corpse being buried in the middle of the forbidden forest has spread throughout the school. And almost all of them, know about it." Richard said as he started the jeep.
And turned the wheel, to get out of Nicholas' yard.
"Okay, and then?" Nicholas's Answer is not focused, with looking everywhere.
[A keen sense of smell detected...]
"Huh, what's this smell? Did you carry a sandwich in your backpack?" Nicholas said as he lowered the glass window next to him.
"How do you know?"
"Ewww, tuna fish sandwich, gosh Richard, I don't like the smell of that food why did you bring it?" Nicholas complained to Richard when he smelled the tuna sandwich in his car.
"Hey, Nicholas listen. There's no way you can smell this tuna sandwich." Richard replied as he reached into something in his backpack.
"My mom has neatly wrapped it in my lunch box, and she's covered it with plastic wrap, which is sure to make the smell from inside this lunch box, not going anywhere."
"That's great, your smell," said Richard, which made Nicholas turn quickly towards him.
