Despite relying on their smell to identify species, all shifters were given the ability to sense shifters more powerful than them.

I had sensed some Lycan blood in the Gamma, but the man that stood before me? This man was a full-blooded Lycan.

"Holy hell," I whispered. My body was in full flight mode. Gamma big brother? Scary?

Pfft.

This guy took the crown for being the scariest of them all.

Although he was a little less muscular than the Gamma, me being able to even sense his aura showed just how much power he had. If it was like this for me, I didn't want to know how it would be for Claire and others.

Daniel and I exchanged panicked looks as the guy in front of me glared at me like I was the worst piece of shit in the whole world, which I probably was. But seriously, people shouldn't discriminate because of how one smells. It was utterly rude.

'Ah, maybe this was a bad idea,' I thought for the first time that day.

I stopped struggling as it was vain and looked up at the Lycan who had me. Cold black eyes, which were probably as dark as his non-existent soul, glared at me.

'Maybe I am being a tad dramatic?'

Well, full-blooded Lycans were known to be extremely volatile, so maybe not. His nostrils flared like a wild bull's, or should I say feral wolf?

'Oh, who cares? I'm dying today, aren't I?'

"Can someone tell me what this thing is doing here?" He seethed.

"I was just leaving actually. I don't know anybody here. That brown-haired dude dragged me here," I said, pointing to Danny.

His glare immediately settled on Danny, who looked like he was about to piss his pants. He shot me a glare, probably for throwing him under the bus. Was it bad that I didn't feel guilty at all?

"Daniel! He will be here any minute now! Do you know how irritable he is right now? It is a miracle he hasn't killed anyone yet. Do you want this female to be the first one he kills today?"

'What? Kill? Me? There is someone scarier than him? Someone tell me he's just being weird and referring to himself in the third person.'

I stopped my mental rant as everyone looked at me weirdly.

"I am not referring to myself in the third person, lupine," the guy holding my wrist said. I guessed it was not a mental rant and had accidentally spoken out loud.

Now that I looked at him closely, he had very nice red hair and even nicer eyebrows. Too bad he looked at me like he wanted to kill me. He would've made an excellent drawing reference. He suddenly let go of my wrist and wiped his hand on his shirt, looking disgusted.

"Okay, I'm just gonna walk myself out of here now. Nice meeting you all. Hope we never meet again!" I said cheerfully, waved at them and turned around to leave. I was surprised, as no one took any action to stop me. Who cared? I was packing my bags and getting out of this pack.

I turned around to take a small peek at them so I could remember their faces well. All three of them were gorgeous, and I needed pretty references to make pretty art.

My brows furrowed in confusion as I took in their expressions. Why were they all looking so pale? Even the red-haired, full-blooded Lycan looked like he saw a ghost.

"What happened-" I started, but my voice trailed off as I sensed a presence behind me. I immediately froze. Because the presence I sensed behind me was not just a full-blooded Lycan.

It was a full-blooded Lycan Alpha.

'I am really dying today, aren't I?'

I had been in many life-or-death situations, but never had I been so sure that I was going to die. Why? Because none of those situations involved me in the presence of a Lycan-blooded Gamma, a full-blooded Lycan, and a full-blooded Lycan Alpha who could tear me apart without even blinking.

And I was positive that no one would stop them if they decided to do that. Of all the days in the year, it just had to be the day after my nineteenth birthday, didn't it?

Well, it was no use worrying about that insignificant fact. I had an important decision to make.

'Should I run straight past the red-haired Lycan before me or turn around and run past the Alpha Lycan behind me?'

Running straight ahead really sounded like the best option here, so I ran.

Before I could take two steps, a strong arm wrapped around my waist, and I was yanked back against a rock-hard chest. I thrashed around, trying to break free, but the hold on me only tightened.

"Let me go!" I yelled, continuing to struggle.

"Calm down, little wolf," a deep voice rumbled near my ear, sending involuntary shivers down my spine. Sparks went up where our skin touched.

I immediately froze at the command laced in his voice. Looking up, I found myself staring into piercing blue eyes that seemed to glow with an otherworldly light. Golden specks in them made his eyes look even more ethereal.
