CHAPTER 9.

Mr Lucas smiled, he was quite elated about their plan. It was the most brilliant strategy that they had come up with since they became a team against Maya.

"Beta Bryan, you're more impressive than I expected," Mr Lucas said and chuckled.

"You're indeed an intelligent man. The rest of us have been thinking of ways to destroy her in such a manner that none of us would be implicated but unfortunately, we couldn't think of any." Mr Adams added.

Alpha Leo was jealous and secretly rolled his eyes. He didn't like the praises that were being said to Beta Bryan but he would tolerate them just to bring down Maya.

Once Maya's company was dragged into the mud and the competition among them began, he promised himself to take down their company and then sleep with their women as a way to mock them.

There were no plans without pleasure when it came to Alpha Leo.

"The launch will come up in a few days and we can't waste any more time. Tonight, the car has to be sabotaged by a well-trained person. I don't know anyone but the rest of you could use your connections to contact the person" Beta Bryan said not like a suggestion but more like an order.

"You don't expect me to bring an idea and then act on it without some effort from any of you. That's not how this partnership is supposed to work" Beta Bryan said with a displeased face.

Though they were partners and acted like equals he was the mastermind and leader behind everything. Whatever they've done against other companies, it had been his idea.

Not to offend him, they quickly laughed.

"I'll surely get someone before tonight," Mr Lucas said with a shaky smile on his lips.

"Good" Beta Bryan's lips curved into a smile that didn't reach his ears.

"We can't seal this achievement without celebrating it" Beta Bryan grinned and made a phone call.

In a few minutes, someone came into the office with bottles of expensive wine and liquor. They were excited about it.

Beta Bryan dismissed the employee and personally served some ice and liquor into their tumblers; they raised their tumblers in happiness.

"To the downfall of the stupid brat" He smirked and clinked his tumbler with the others.

"Cheers"

Maya reached her office, she couldn't stop pondering on the thought of her deed with Eric last night.

She thought working in the office would help but on the contrary, everything was working against her. She cussed multiple times and remained in a foul mood because of it.

The minute she sat down and her ass sank slightly into the seat, she recalled each second that her butt brushed on the soft couch as Eric thrusts into her, last night.

That wasn't the only experience she had been having. She mistakenly hurt herself and moaned out, the only memories that came to her mind were her moaning Eric's name like some maniac and telling him to fuck her faster.

"Ahh!! I'm such a shameless bitch!" Maya screamed, removed her shoe, and threw it at the door.

Unfortunately, the door opened and her manager walked in. The heel banged against his head and he dropped on the floor.

Thud!

"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry" Quickly, she apologized but it was a little too late.

She rushed to him and helped him up to his feet, the man was dizzy because of the impact of her shoe. She helped him to the couch and he had his seat.

"Forgive me for that" Maya apologized and chided herself inwardly for being so childish and enraged.

"It's okay, I'm fine" Her manager nodded, after a few minutes of recovering from the hit.

Maya sighed and went to get a first aid box. He tried dissuading her from helping him but she insisted and treated the wound that had formed.

"Sorry,y" She apologized again.

"It's alright, Miss Maya. Whatever you're going through, remember that I'm not just an employee but a friend." He said with a smile on his lips.

Maya suspected that he heard her rant and assumed that she had developed some insanity or ailment.

"I'm fine, there's nothing wrong with me" Maya faked a smile and turned away from him.

Her manager darted his eyes to her hand and suddenly grabbed her. She was startled by it but stayed still and watched him, checking out her ring.

"This is so beautiful, is it just an accessory oh are you– oh my god!" He chuckled loudly. "It's an engagement ring, I'm so happy for you." He laughed excitedly.

He knew that Maya and Johnny were in a relationship but never expected that they would tie the knot so soon.

Maya saw how excited he was and pondered for a moment why she didn't feel that excited. It seemed like her time with Eric drained every bit of the excitement she had.

She withdrew her hand from his and thanked him for congratulating her. Hastily, she went to keep the first aid kit and changed the topic.

"What are you here for?" asked Maya as she walked back to her seat with a forced smile, hurting her cheeks.

He stood and went to bring her heel before responding.

"Thanks"

"I thought that you would love to see the car before we test it in two days. It's perfect already but I would love to know if you would consider any alterations to be done to it."

Maya sighed and nodded a little. She wore her shoe back and followed him to where the car had been secretly kept.

Beautiful was an understatement to what Maya beheld. It was exactly as she imagined it, she knew it would be possible to bring such an incredible car into reality…

After checking the car, she went back to her office and received a call from Johnny.

'Hello love' Johnny greeted, smiling over the phone.

Maya desired to reply with the same cheerfulness but her guilt only made her bitter.

'Hi…'

'I called to check if you were alright or needed me with you' Johnny said.

'I'm better than before, especially after seeing the new car. I would have sent you a picture of but it wouldn't be such a surprise anymore' Maya muttered and a little smile formed on her lips.

'Well, I promise to be your first buyer' Johnny said and chuckled.

'Till then, Johnny,' Maya said and hung up.

She wanted to tell him that she loved him but that would only make her a hypocrite.

Her phone rang again and she didn't desire to answer it but then it was a private number.

"Hello, who is this?" Maya asked and closed her eyes a little.

"Guess who?"

Maya's eyes snapped open and she frowned.

'Why are you calling me and how the fuck did you get my number?' Maya questioned, angrily.

'Anger doesn't suit you, my Queen. I called to check up on you, it's not a bad thing to care for the woman that my…'

It was annoying that she anticipated him to complete his sentence but he didn't. This made her more upset and her lips pursed in irritation.

' Cease calling me, if you have nothing to say! Anyways, there's nothing between us and this should be the last time you will call me or I swear that your number will surely be on my list (blocked list)'

'My heart beats for you, that's all I called to say' Eric said and hung up.

A little tint of red showed on Maya's cheeks but she frowned and her heart turned cold.

"I'll never be fooled by you again," Maya said, recalling how he humiliated and rejected her, thereby brewing hatred in her heart.

Days passed and it was time for the car to be tested before the launch.

Unknown to any of them that the car had already been sabotaged and would certainly result in fatality.

"This is the employee that would drive the car," her manager said and handed the keys over to the man.

"Wait!" Maya said loudly as he wanted to leave.

"This is a great work of mine, in fact of all of us and I would love to be the first to drive it" Maya smiled at her employee.

"Hand over the keys to me," Maya said and stretched out her hand.
