In spite of how much time he’d spent with Jesse, how many years since his time with Mary, Gideon still found comfort in moonless nights. The dark would always be a friend. It gave him power. Made him feel strong. Reminded him of the reason he’d come to exist in the first place, whether he embraced the same ideals or not. Driving out to the church with only the lights of Chicago to guide him actually gave him hope.
Guardians couldn’t see in the dark. Jesse was proof of that.
