The Aeternus Universe

The year of humanity is 2415, and DDVR and VRMMORPG's are commonplace now. It's extremely hard for a new game to come out and be successful. The greats of these genres have ruled for a few centuries now. A new game is releasing soon, and it has promise to be one of those. The Aeternus Universe. A Virtual Reality game has what you would expect from a game in this genre. However, some things make it special. One of those being the exploration and adventure through galaxies and The Aeternus Universe. Other games in this genre take it to fantasy and medieval times. This is set in a universe where there are super advanced technologies, spaceships, and Mecha suits—lost Alien tech ready to be found and claimed. Some of these all come together. The story starts 2 days before the release of the game, and with our protagonist—a 20-year-old male by the name of Scott Autumn. He is one of the few jumping from the current major game to this one. Seeing its potential for greatness and chance to be one of the biggest games on the market.

~~~(POV: Durado)~~~
I keep my blaster pointed at Ziller, and the more time that passes, the more desperate he begins to look. Death by Quantum split is an unknown sensation. No one can describe it since no ones survived it. "Make a damn decision already!" He yells at me, trying to force an answer out of me.
He glances at the massive digital clock behind me from time to time. I'm guessing the timer on the bomb is running low. "SCREW THIS AND SCREW YOU!" He tries to make a quick dart to his ship, but I blast holes in his shins.
He screams out in pain as he continues to crawl. He won't bleed out due to the heat of the blaster cauterizing the wound. I walk up as he reaches for the control panel for the cockpits opening hatch.
I step on his back and pin him to the ground as it opens. "YOU DAMN FOOL! THIS ENTIRE WORLD IS DOOMED!! LET ME GO IN THE NEXT 30 SECONDS, AND I'LL TAKE YOU WITH ME!" I'll keep faith in Scott. He hasn't let me down yet. I quit pinning him with my boot, and I grab one of his limp legs and drag him away from his ship.
He's screaming and clawing with his arms as hard as he can, but he can't move his legs thanks to the holes in them. "You should've known better, Ziller... I'm not as famous as I am for no reason." He cries out as the time left before the planet-wide quantum split is supposed to occur.
He stops screaming and struggling as the time passes, said mark. I stop dragging him, and he's plenty far away from his ship now. We are still on the landing pad, of course. He looks at me in confusion. "For your genius, you sure do have a stupid look on your face." I try to insult him, but he looks happy to be alive.
He's not going to be happy once he realizes that I still have to decide to kill him slowly and try to get the information out of him or to let him go and try again another day. However, now that the bomb is disabled, the second option no longer exists. So I've made my choice.
I pull out a metal dagger from my boot and press a button on it. The blade heats up and is now red. "Wait! Wait! I have a backup bomb set up! If you kill me, you won't get me to tell you where it is!" An obvious bluff to get me to stop. Nothing is going to stop this torture.
I place the flat part of the blade against the already damaged shins. Burning them further. He screams out as I cause more pain to the location that is already the most damaged. "You can tell me now, and stop your suffering. Or you can make me take you to a more secure location, and take my sweet time with you." I stop burning his leg and bring it up to his head.
I place the red hot flat part of the blade against his left ear and he screams as it burns him. As I'm doing this, I hear footsteps approach from behind. I stop what I'm doing and I turn around quickly with my blaster drawn.
It's just Scott, he throws up his hands in a slightly mockingly way. "I take it from the screams on the way up here that you got him." I nod my head and move aside to show Scott that Ziller is on the ground and disabled. "What do we do with him now? It's obvious now that you aren't chasing him for the reward alone, you wouldn't spend time torturing him if that was the case. And you don't strike me as a sadist." The kid is smart, deducing that as quickly as he did. I turn back to Ziller and his face is covered in tears from the pain.
For a genius and mass murderer, he's pathetic when he's beaten. I point my blaster at Ziller and turn it into a knockout shot.
I shoot him and he quickly falls asleep. "I'll be taking him to a safe house I have in Newton-14. Once I have gotten what I needed from him, we'll take his dead body to the local department and get the reward for the bounty. Sound like a plan, apprentice?" I hold out my hand for a handshake.
I watch as Scott's grin grows into a smile. I think I'm going to be the first person in The Aeternus Universe to mentor a player. He takes my hand and our new partnership is formed.
