I don't know what made me look up, be it the fact that I was unsure of where I was, or exactly what time it was or maybe it was because for some reason I felt like I needed to look up, like if I did and then looked back down the man who was leading me to my death would suddenly disappear... And he did disappear but not in the magical way that I had thought instead, it was a gruesome and gut-wrenching act, enough to make me want to spill the breakfast I never had
Dot knew that in this journey she would see things that she's never imagined, things that would make her cringe and rethink her decision, she thought she was prepared but now looking at a man, or what she thought was a man slice the slave traders throat in a slow precise manner, the cut was the shape of a crescent moon, going from one end to another except this moon wasn't as beautiful as a real one, this moon was spilling dark red liquid like a rushing waterfall, luckily the man and the slave trader had fallen in a way that gave Dot only the side of his body, so she couldn't see the full front of the injury just the outside details
Lenon stood slowly as Dot watched warily and just as he finally stood with his back straight and looked directly at the woman
Tris, the horse recognized that the man was a dangerous being, he knew what the man was so in an instant he looked at Dot and violently took off like a bullet out of a gun, it was a surprise that Dot didn't fall and break her skull but it seems like the gods were with her and she managed to clumsily grab the saddle rope and bring her self forward so that she wasn't at a high risk of falling
After what seemed like a day of running Dot was finally able to get Tris to calm down and stop his bullet-like pace
In one swift motion, I was off of Tris's back and on the ground beside a perfectly healthy tree heaving everything in my stomach, which was practically nothing, only water, and air. Coughing up the remaining bile Dot stood up clutching her stomach and waited but instead of her breathing stabilizing it only seemed to increase to a point that black spots started surrounding her vision she couldn't put the feeling she got when she met that man's eyes, all she could say was that the feeling was familiar and warm something and it strangely disturbed her
She tried closing her eyes but soon realized that that was a huge mistake when all she could see was the scene that took place in front of her, when all she could see was the man in the black cloak grabbing the slave traders hair, tilting his head back in what Dot assumed would be a painful manner and before the man could even register what was happening he was dead, his head almost cut out from his body, his life drained like he was a pig to be eaten for a grand dinner
That made her breathing even more erratic until even when she opened her eyes darkness was all she could see until finally, she felt herself tilt

The chill woke her up, and like a spring, I sat up instantly regretting it when a sharp, searing pain was felt through my whole body particularly at my hip, I could understand why my head felt like a jackhammer rammed it over and over again but surely the fall to the forest floor wasn't enough to make her whole body ache like this right?
A sudden mouse like squeak took me out of my thoughts, remaining me that I wasn't in the forest anymore but in a plain room with nothing but the bed I was currently sitting on and a wide long window far on the other side of the room with dull straw like curtains and a desk that looked like it would break with a whisper of a touch
Other than those things there was nothing else in the small room, except for the boy with dirty long locks and the little girl with the wide eyes hiding between the long legs of the boy, a boy who happened to be glaring at me, looking at me like I was the rat and he was the exterminator. We looked at each other as if frozen in our spots while waiting for someone to say something and when It was clear that neither of them would speak I decided to do it
"My horse, he's big, shiny gray fur, and he's scary do you know where he might be?" I ask trying to keep my voice light and curious not accusing
The boy just continued his scorching glare and as the girl opened her mouth to speak, the glaring boy took her skinny pale arm and dragged her over to the desk, shutting up anything she was going to say. Dots chest ached as she looked at the little girl whose hair was as dry as the hay like curtains in the room, who had eyes so big that Dot wondered if she cried how big her tears would be
The little girl looked nothing like any of the children she's ever seen, the girl looked thin and malnourished, he bones could be seen through her skin and it was the same for the boy too. This sight brought a whole different kind of pain in her body
"Where am I?" I try again, my voice soft but firm, I was a mother of four, and I wasn't going to let this rude boy make me forget it. I kept eye contact with him not backing down when he put the tray of food I hadn't noticed until now, on the wooden desk. From here I could see that the tray did not contain much, just a half piece of bread and white chunky porridge, or what Dot assumed was porridge
It wasn't what Dot was used to... At all but right now that bowl of chunky porridge and dark bread looked like heaven to her so without another thought she stood, only to end up on the ground wondering what in God's name just happened
The boy, Mem looked at the noblewoman the old man had bought it. Being born and raised in this secluded town Mem hasn't seen many tourists, or any nobles at that, the only outsiders he's seen are wannabe hunters who have come and gone like Pirates on land, the mysterious hunter that strangely has not left yet even after being here for a month, and other than this woman here there has only ever been one noble to come into Maou Village and Mem didn't even want to think about it since that was a time that he wished to forget
That's why he wanted this woman well and gone because he didn't trust nobles or any outsiders. They were just money hungry folks who thought they were better than the rest of the human race but what they didn't know was that they were, in fact, worse than the dirtiest scum on earth
Nobles were nothing but trash and this woman wasn't any different
