Walking happily into a trap

         Lith woke up in the evening, just in time to go out with his friends to grab something to eat. Lith didn`t even want to think of what would have happened if he has woken up a few minutes later because his other roommates were all dressed up.

        Although this was not Lith`s first time coming to the university, most of the times he was in the administrative areas so it was his first time seeing so many students. Lith was surprised seeing the place still bustling with activity so late. He took his sweet time admiring the scenery. Lith was mesmerized by the beauty of the place. Carl and Derek, Lith`s roommates although being freshmen were quite familiar with the place having lived there for a while.

        "Let`s just try out a local eatery" Lith said. His yes still quite heavy. He knew at least local eateries were less expensive than restaurants, also he didn`t want to go far after all he has to go back soon to call his mom and sister as they would be worried sick since he hasn`t called them since he had arrived. 

        "Okay, lets pick up Luna first, I promised her a treat today" Carl said. Lith assumed that this Luna was probably their friend so he didn`t give it much thought.

        Luna`s dormitory was just a few blocks from theirs, so in a few minutes they were there. Almost like she had been awaiting them, immediately they rung the bell, she opened. Luna was 6ft tall with brown eyes and a flawless skin. Lith`s half closed eyes shot wide open as soon as he saw her. He had seen many girls but the ones who could hold a candle in comparsison to his sister were few.Of course, Luna did not miss his expression, but she had become used to seeing many teenagers drool on her. Although, Lith`s smile would have been enough to get many beautiful girls drool, too bad she was not interested in younger boys.

        "I never knew you would fulfil your promise" she said with a sweet smile making Carl curse at his own plight. He had made a bet with Luna in which if she one, she would go on a date with him and if she won, he will buy her favorite drink and no matter the amount as long as she could finish it. Carl had prided himself in being unparalleled in chess. He had thought he will be able to impress her with his skills as well as go on a date with a beautiful fairy in which if he played his cards well, could become a relationship.

        However, reality turned out to be a bitch as what should originally have been an easy win for him turned out to be an heated game with their skills slightly on par with his being bigger. In the middle of the game though he had to pick a call and when he came back the few moves he used to recollect himself turned the game around in her favor.  

        The only silver lining in the situation was that he got to chose the restaurant. He prayed silently that she should not be a good drinker or a picky one, if not, he might have to find a decent excuse to get his parents  to send him some extra money or he will have to restructure his budget.

        The atmosphere was tense on the way as Carl was thinking how how he could make use of the current situation to his advantage while Luna was thinking how she should deal with this love-stricken boy who keeps making advances even though she keeps making advances. Derek was naturally quiet and both Luna and Carl were lost in their own thoughts. Lith didn`t know what to say so he chose to be quite. 

        After about five minutes of walk, they entered the eatery, Carl booked an empty table of four. Lith and Derek ordered simple meals while Carl waited to see what Luna will order. His was like that of a fowl prepared for slaughter feeling a mixture of fear and anxiety. To his surprise, Luna ordered a simple meal as well as a light drink. Carl sighed thinking within himself how paranoid he has been just now. Carl even ordered a meal slightly bigger than what he would have ordered on any normal day because of his happiness.

        After they were done eating, Carl was still feeling quite heavy since the meal he ordered could be enough for two people to eat. Luna was not interested in Carl so his attempts of attracting her attention looked annoying at best to her so she decided she will make him stop his futile attempts that day. She was also aware that giving him a fake sense of security and then striking when he least expected it was bound to hurt the most and Carl showed that he had fallen for trap the moment he ordered two people`s worth of food.

        However, her plan was more than just that so after a few minutes as they were preparing to go, she asked Carl "I don`t know why but for some reasons my body is craving a little alcohol, so would you assist me home in case I get drunk".

        Carl`s face became ashen like he had just eaten a fly, his  brain was working at high speed to find a good response, but he found none. He had been put between a rock and a hard place, if he agreed, it means Luna could afford to and most likely would get drunk since she was not the paying and also has his assurance of escorting her home safely. Also, if he said no, it would mean he was losing an opportunity to be with the woman of his dreams not to mention disappointing her when she needs him would make his already unstable position in her heart drop even lower. Also, if either Derek or Lith was agreed, it would mean giving them an edge over him in her heart.

        Luna could imagine what what going on in his head so to make it harder for him to refuse, she deliberately looked at Lith and Derek. Carl had known Luna to be a very smart girl, so he decided to use this moment of carelessness to his advantage. "Yes dear, I will help you at any point in time, no need to be polite, just ask and I would do it" Carl said. his intentions clear in his choice of words.
