Setting off

A few days after the raid and the dead were buried at sea, Fenrisúlfr was at the farmstead talking to Ubbe, Ivar, and Astrid.

"Hey I want to travel around and go exploring new places, I'll come to visit every year if I can," I said with a smile towards the three of them it was forced but I couldn't be sullen forever.

I needed to get away from here, losing my friends got me to thinking about my immortality, I'd watch many of my friends grow old and die while I stayed young, even if I turned them into Werewolves they might only have a little longer life span, they wouldn't become immortal which was disappointing. Even if I could make the elixir of life, it isn't true immortality they'd become dependent on it later in life and I'd need to make the philosopher's stone I had no idea how to do that. I'd need to study alchemy, potions, and transmutation but it was never said in anything wizarding worldwide how it was created, maybe Nicholas Flamel did it by accident?

Anyway back to leaving I'd decided to start my journey towards England and wait for Hogwarts to start, get close to Merlin and learn as much as I could about magic I'd probably need a wand to be seen as a wizard in England but I didn't need one, I'd actually created my own 'diffindo' charm but it was in old Norse 'kljúfa' and it was more like a cleave then a cut, I used a chopping motion with my hand, it was then I realized that spells needed 3 things; intent, will and control.

The intended use of the spell, the will to do it, and the control of the magic supplied. It took me a while to get the hang of it but I could through wood pretty easy. I did try 'diffindo' but it was awkward to say I wasn't used to Latin must be the accent or something. I wasn't good at any other language at all really.

I could speak modern English but that was useless in today's age.

Another charm I'd gotten round to creating was the extension charm 'ginnung vöxtr' which I used on my belt pouch, it could hold 100x as much now, I used hand signs like Witchers to incorporate spells, it worked okay but without a wand to focus it wasn't perfect.

Back to my conversation with Astrid, Ubbe, and Ivar.

"What do you mean if you can you will! I knew you would want to leave after everything got cleaned up around here, I'm sorry Fenrisúlfr I know you didn't have many people you actually get along with but please don't hesitate to come back and see us!" Astrid continued with a sad smile.

"Yeah you're always welcome here Fenrisúlfr your family so don't be a stranger, I know you can look after yourself and you want to go on an adventure" Ubbe confessed rather happily.

"The worlds a huge place Fenrisúlfr, I've been many places but I can't say I've travelled it all. maybe you can in your life, I'll stay around here and make sure everything goes smoothly in your stead" Ivar proclaimed, smacking my shoulder in a reassuring gesture.

"Thanks, Ivar that released some of the worries I had, and Astrid I'll come for Yule and feast as much as I can but if I'm too far away I might not make it in time, the seas aren't always forgiving. Ubbe you better keep training or I'll squish you when I see you again" I assured them with a genuine smile, the first after the raid as I took off out the house and on my way.

Vikings didn't seem to care about death, and I shouldn't really I knew what happened afterwards, they'd go to Valhalla or Helheim depending on their deeds. I didn't think to murder the elderly was right though. They should die on their beds in their own time. But that wasn't realistic, this age was full of slaughter and war and I'd probably get tangled up in a few over the centuries, I was naive to think I wouldn't kill anyone who crossed my path and attempted to use me.

I'd just send there remains to the earth and use there lives to better the planet in Gaia's name, like most warmongers who used God's name for war. I'm glad Christianity isn't spreading through Europe at the minute cause he's not my prophet and that's not my God. No God is omnipotent and let's mankind his "children" suffer, if he's all-powerful why do we have free will? If he's all-knowing why aren't humans if we're made in "his" image? At least the gods I believe in aren't perfect, they're human in some regards. Odins greedy, Zeus is prideful but they all die in some way. No God is all-powerful they have their pros and their cons, just like humans.

I'd already packed my stuff up, I had forgotten my axe after the battle. I found it stuck in someone's wall, I had to apologize and helped fix the damage I'd caused. That's when I began to want to learn the repairo charm but I did it by hand anyway. Ratatoskr was fine as well, I'd forgotten him after the battle when I was crying over my friends, he'd been rummaging through the dead bodies and came back with a dark red stone, it was rough and smooth at the same time with straight edges it didn't seem natural and felt magical. He scurried off after he dropped it in my pouch without me noticing. Bringing me a few other things he'd pilfered from the corpses, a few runes and a knew small knife he could even use it, it was that small, would be a good tool for runecraft. They were all in my pouch with some other things I hadn't gotten around to checking out.

I packed light just taking my axe and seax with me, everything was in my pouch. I left my bow because I decided to travel as a wolf for a while, not my huge 15-foot wolf form just regular-sized, didn't want to be hunted down.

My first destination after leaving would be the mountains of Norway maybe I could see a Norwegian Ridgeback dragon on my travels. I'd always wanted to see a dragon if the legend of Sigurðr was real that's probably what he killed. And maybe I'll find some other werewolves and see where I stand against them, I know they were around the village the mikaelsons were from how else was Klaus a hybrid?

After leaving the village I transformed with a few painful breaks of my bones not as bad as the first time, I think my body's constitution helped with that. The setting of running through the woods towards the south I swam to the mainland on my journey.
