61 Hobgoblins (3)

The Hobgoblin who had helped his fellow injured brethren stand up felt a horrifying pressure. He looked towards the source at saw Leon, the pressure he felt wasn't due to the fact that Leon possessed a good deal of power. Rather the pressure he felt was from the gaze Leon gave the hobgoblin, chills shuttered up and down the hobgoblin as it stared at the human who looked like a small puppy to him, but stared at the hobgoblin like he wanted to consume the hobgoblin whole

Although no one at present, even Leon, would be able to understand what the hobgoblin was thinking, if one could it would be along the lines of 'Dear Lord, I gotta get outta here! That weirdos going to come!'

However, his thoughts quickly evaporated from his mind as hobgoblins weren't the sharpest tools in the shed. As it left his mind, he roared at the approaching three but had to move his attention elsewhere as arrows hungering for his eyes came out from Arwin once again.

The hobgoblin who was still uninjured had to once again use his trunk as cover, but the sheer amount of magic power arrows were slowly pushing the hobgoblin backward as the arrows felt like shotgun slugs to the hobgoblin trying to block everything with his tree trunk.

Taking advantage of that, Leon, still with that look in his eyes, reached the injured goblin who had just gotten up on one knee.

'Hehehe, why don't you lie down for me! But please, at least put up a fight and maybe give me a couple of good bruises

If any of his party members or even anyone from Verin, including most passionate adventurers, would have died from the shock of Leon actually encouraging and anticipating a grueling fight. However, the thought never occurred to Leon.

With that Leon sprung forward and launched himself to the side, where the hobgoblin couldn't see, to one of the legs and slashed down at the fragile ligaments and joints in the knees. Although the hobgoblin was tough and big, Ensis was a world-class item and at his peak, perhaps one of the best swords on the planet. So even though Ensis was at his weakest in Leon's hands as Leon was still low leveled, the sword cut through half the knee like it was a hot knife cutting butter.

This left half the leg starting from the knee down, look like it was holding onto the main body by a thread as gravity tried its best to completely separate the limb.

The hobgoblin, who still couldn't see, experienced the pain from his knee being almost completely severed. It looked down by reflex and made the closest expression to fear a hobgoblin could as he saw that the nerves in his leg from the knee down had already been sliced and he could only feel the pain from the knee up. The hobgoblin looked down and saw one of the scariest sights any living being could experience, he saw what used to be the bottom half of his leg hanging on to the rest of his leg by the skin as it lifelessly dangled in the air.

Before the hobgoblin could even react, Tecia and Tomoe raced towards the other side. Clamping both her gauntlets together, Tecia raised her hands above her head and swung down at the hobgoblin's other knee with as much strength as she could muster.

The knee was already planted on the ground, but the force of Tecia's strike was so impactful a series of small cracks appeared in the ground as it tried to support the hobgoblin's knee. At this point, however, the knee had already been decimated as a bunch of its ligaments and tendons had been crushed to the point where it hurt to even move the knee a nanometer.

While her strike didn't inflict as much damage as Leon's slice, the hobgoblin at this point had been inflicted so much damage, its small brain was overloaded and he fell to the ground with a tree shaking thud.

It tried to grunt to call its brethren to help him, but before it got to finish Tomoe gracefully floated from above and landed on the neck of the hobgoblin.

With her spears, she surgically found the hobgoblin equivalent of a human jugular and expertly opened a two-foot-long gash that had blood erupt like it was Mount Vesuvius.

"Sleep now."

Just as this happened, Arwin had finally run out of physical arrows to shoot and the remaining hobgoblin finally got to see what happened to its comrade and let out a yell of anguish.

"NO O DQUV KILZ NEL ZNGVJP"

The hobgoblins yell sounded like any normal monster to everyone present, but Leon whose skill: Language of Monsters, managed to translate a full word alongside random fragments this time.

Leon tried to see if it could understand what Leon said and called out to his party.

"Wait don-"

Before he could finish, a bright green light flashed from the bush Arwin had situated himself in. At this point, the hobgoblin had thought, with its small brain, the archer had run out of arrows since it stopped shooting.

While that was true, Arwin however still could make arrows out of his magic power that had its advantages over regular arrows, the reason Arwin didn't start with the magic arrows was that it consumed a lot of his mana and tired him out quickly and would make Arwin physically weak for the rest of the day. Otherwise Arwin and other low leveled archers would always use magic arrows.

The arrow was at least twice as fast as a normal arrow and easily managed to reach the hobgoblin's eye before the monster could even realize to dodge, but this time the arrow would not only injure the hobgoblin.

The light pierced through the eye, but surprising the hobgoblin. It didn't stop like a steaming train and had continued until it ended up on a nearby tree, meanwhile, the hobgoblin's body had stopped running at this point and its momentum carried it a couple of steps forward until it collapsed onto the ground as dark green blood puddled everywhere from the hole in its skull.

Tomoe had sensed the spike in magic power near the bush beforehand as Arwin didn't even attempt to hide it as he knew the hobgoblin wouldn't notice it anyway, so she set off and barely arrived to catch Arwin who stumbled forward from exhaustion.

Leon came over and looked a bit worried.

"Arwin are you okay?"

Turning his face away as he looked like he enjoyed being held by Tomoe, he replied to Leon.

"I'm fine. The amount of mana I used was too much to release for my body at the moment, what did you say earlier?"

Looking apprehensively, Leon contemplated for a second.

'Do I tell them?'

However, Leon decided against it since the act of talking to monsters would seem like Leon had gone insane.

"Ah, it was nothing."

Arwin gave a weak thumbs up and looked around.

"Where's Tecia?"
