Chapter 16: Eri (I)

BANG!

A gunshot could be heard, but luckily, there was no one who lived near Toshinori's house, so no one heard it.

Toshinori quickly looked at the places that he was shot at, and realised that there wasn't any hole or injury on his body. Slowly, he felt his organs regrow. No. His organs were, more accurately speaking, reverting back to its original state before it was removed to prevent further worsening of his injuries.

"Wow..." Toshinori unconsciously muttered. He quickly felt what was happening. His body began to fill up with power, he could say that he was back into his prime. He quickly tried transforming to his mighty form, and realised that it could transform as easily as breathing, unlike before where he had to endure pain whenever he forced himself to transform.

"HAHAHA! I'M BACK TO MY PRIME! THANK YOU YOUNG SHIDO, I DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA HOW I COULD EVER REPAY YOU!" Toshinori laughed and thanked Shido profusely.

Shido just looked at his transformation and stared blankly. "Does it transform your personality as well together with your body?"

"..."

After healing Toshinori, Shido left the house to perform his concert. He periodically performs a concert in different places every time, and today was no different.

At first, he started performing to earn some legitimate money instead of ruining the country's economy by transforming trash to diamond. Though he didn't care much about this world, it was currently his home, and nobody would destroy their own home on purpose.

However, after many concerts later, he found it entertaining. His purpose of holding concerts had shifted from earning money to entertaining others, allowing his audiences to relax and enjoy music together regardless of status, race, or quirks.

Today, he remained in Musutafu to hold his concert. Musutafu was a very popular city since the number one school for heroes, UA high school is located here.

Going to a random crossroad again, he summoned his piano and started performing. As soon as Gabriel appeared, many people were immediately attracted to it.

"Kyaaa! Phantom is here!"

"Wow! Phantom is going to perform here today?!"

"Phantom! I love your songs!"

New quickly spread around the area and not even five minutes had passed before thousands gathered. Smiling at his audiences, Shido started his concert.

"Great job today Shido. Are you improving?" Yoshinon asked. He realised that Shido's playing and singing had improved from when he first started. Slowly, the piano's full power is manifesting. His playing and singing had a tinge of hypnotism added into it. Yoshinon did not know whether Shido knew about it or not, but since it wasn't harmful to him, he let it be. If anything, it would be beneficial to him in the long run.

If Shido was the playful and sociable character, then Yoshinon would be a sarcastic character. He might joke and laugh with others, often making sarcastic remarks about people, but he would also be very serious when push comes to shove. But if he found out that the situation or item or person wasn't harmful to Shido, he would revert back to his playful side.

"Really? I never felt anything different though. Besides, I'm just playing for fun, it's not like I'm trying to be the best." Shido shrugged it off.

It was already late at night, and he had just received a call from Toshinori that dinner was ready at home. He opted to walk back home rather than teleport as he wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet the early evening had.

While getting closer to the house, he noticed something down an alleyway and stopped to stare at the situation that was going on.

He noticed a small little girl that was about the same age as him who wore a plain, short-sleeved dress which had a dirty, pale tan colour. Bandages were wrapped around both her arms and legs, stopping at her wrists and ankles, underneath which he could see that she had numerous scars.

She was being surrounded by three older men that were dressed in what looked like black, business suits. One of them looked like a lizard with a huge tail coming out of his rear, another had a mask on with green veins around it, and the final one looked somewhat similar to a gorilla. Those three were surrounding the little girl in the alleyway.

"We finally found you, Eri. You need to come back now, the Doctor needs you and was really sad when you left him all alone, you know?" The lizard guy said.

The masked guy sniggered at his companion's statement as they knew what awaited this little girl when she got back to the Doctor for her leaving them again. The gorilla had a regretful expression on his face, but he didn't stop them either. Everyone had their own circumstances, and in this dog eat dog world, whoever had greater power was the boss.

"I don't want to go back there, it hurts...it hurts so much. I don't want to hurt anymore...please, leave me alone. I don't want to go back there ever again. Please, anywhere but there." The little girl, Eri cried while looking at the trio and hoped that someone would help her in her time of need and bring her away from this group.

After seeing this and hearing what they were saying, Shido decided to save this girl. He wasn't a hero, but if he saw someone in trouble, he would do his best to save them. And besides, being a child himself, he utterly despises those who harm and abuse children. Yoshinon knew about his decision but kept silent. He just quietly observed from Shido's shoulder.

Slowly walking towards them, he showed his face. Currently, he was disguised as an ordinary child, so when the trio saw him, the masked guy sneered,"Little brat, go home and continue drinking your milk. Don't butt into-"

"Eri, was it? Please close your eyes and cover your ears, it's going to be a little messy." Shido interrupted his speech without caring for their reactions.
