Chapter 51: Oar

[Vereena]

I immediately sink into the bottom, the layers of my dress weighing me down. My lungs burned, and bubbles came out of my nose. I kicked my legs aimlessly, my hands flailed on my side but a firm gripped clasps around my arm, pulling me up to the surface. Gasping desperately for air, fear titillated inside me soon as I hear a furious shout from above and a series of angry curses.

"Milady, don't let go." I barely even managed to utter a response when Hugo dragged me into the water. With his powerful strokes, we propelled farther away from the ship. I trusts him, and since we were little, I know he's an adept swimmer, he wouldn't let me drown, nor abandon me behind. However, I didn't want to be a burden to him, as much as I could, I tried hard to paddle my feet, kicking vehemently and keeping my head above the surface. Calmly breathing despite my walloping heart beating down in my throat.

"Caileag! Fuck!"
