Lost in Infatuation

Amelia was still in university, so after wrapping up her scenes, she had to rush back to school for her classes.

Thus, she narrowly missed crossing paths with Alexander, which was quite regrettable.

After all, her purpose in entering the entertainment industry was to be up close with beautiful men and women, and Alexander was considered one of the most attractive male artists in the industry.

Yes, Amelia was truly a sucker for good looks!

Once her scene was finished, she returned to school. By the time filming for "Deep in the Desert" concluded, the year had turned. Although Amelia only had a few minutes of screen time, Director Edward still invited her to participate in the promotional activities prior to the release.

The actor and actress, along with several supporting actors, were all present.

Amelia stood elegantly beside them, smiling quietly. From the audience's perspective, her taller stature made her particularly eye-catching.

Inside, however, she was constantly thinking, "When will this end?" She found the act of maintaining her refined demeanor exhausting, as being a "delicate girl" didn't suit her at all.

When the host finally addressed her, she responded with pre-prepared lines, also having to pretend that her relationship with her own mother was nothing more than that of a newbie with a veteran.

Her smile was stiff, but with her mother on stage, she dared not act out, lest she be sent back home.

Thus, her impression on everyone that day was rather aloof, and combined with her overly beautiful face, it didn't leave a good impression; she seemed unapproachable.

After the promotions, Amelia, carrying her bag, waited backstage because her mother mentioned that someone was supposed to take her to sign a contract.

Alexander's manager, Simon, was discussing with Alexander: "Alexander, are you coming back to the company with us? After all, you and she are likely to meet often in the future."

He was somewhat nervous, being Alexander's manager and knowing him well. Outsiders might only see Alexander's aloofness toward female stars, but only he knew that it was actually aversion, although Alexander was an excellent actor.

As expected, upon hearing this, Alexander frowned and loosened his tie, saying simply, "No."

It was the anticipated response, and while Simon wasn't surprised, it was still a headache. He argued, "But I'll only be managing the two of you artists; I can't let it be known that my only two clients don't get along!"

"There's no discord," Alexander replied.

Simon scoffed silently. There was no discord because he didn't even bother to interact with others. How could there be any discord or harmony?

His gaze suddenly caught sight of Amelia waiting. Surprised, he realized she was the new artist he was about to sign. He approached her and said, "Hello, I'm Simon, are you Amelia?"

Amelia looked at him and blinked, as if finally recognizing him, and said with a poised smile, "Hello, I'm Amelia."

Simon nodded, "You've probably been told about signing a contract, shall we go to the company directly?"

Amelia nodded in agreement.

Simon was very pleased with this new artist. Just from her appearance, there weren't many in the circle who could compare with her.

The glamorous industry was never short of beauties, but those with both a unique aura and exquisite features were rare.

Besides the veteran actress Elizabeth, among the male artists, Alexander was also one. Their rarity made them valuable.

And Amelia had just that kind of aristocratic demeanor that seemed innate, standing out effortlessly wherever she was.

Simon introduced her to Alexander, saying, "Amelia, this is Alexander, you should know him? He's your senior brother, you can just call him Alexander."

This girl had just starred in Director Edward's new film, and since Alexander was the male lead, he assumed they had already met.

However, given Alexander's personality, it was probably as if they hadn't met at all.

Amelia followed his pointing direction, looked over, and her eyes lit up.

Her lips seemed about to uncontrollably curl up into a smile, then remembering something, Amelia quickly composed herself, displaying only an elegant smile, fulfilling the humility expected of a newcomer, "Hello, Alexander."

No, she didn't know him. But what did it matter! If he was handsome, that was enough.

However, she didn't extend her hand because her father had told her before that her manager also managed a very capable Film Emperor who didn't particularly like women, so she should avoid physical contact as much as possible.

Though she seriously doubted her father's exaggeration, who would she be if not an obedient child?

Alexander caught all her subtle reactions, his interest piqued as he raised an eyebrow, saying simply, "Hello."

He then turned to Simon, suddenly declaring, "I'll also head back to the company."

Simon looked at him in surprise, not quite understanding why his normally reticent charge had suddenly changed his mind.

Alexander didn't concern himself with Simon's puzzled look; he headed straight for the parking area.

His assistant, Leo, quickly said goodbye to Simon and hurried after Alexander.

Simon, feeling a bit perplexed, turned to the young girl still beside him and said warmly, "Amelia, let's go too! After signing the contract at the company, I'll take you to see the apartments."

"Okay," Amelia replied with a smile.

Leo drove, Simon sat in the passenger seat, and Amelia and Alexander were in the back.

Sitting next to Alexander, Amelia occasionally glanced at him as if by accident, her eyes tracing from his hair down to his long legs, and quietly noted in her mental notebook that this "brother" was indeed extraordinarily handsome.

She also sighed internally, reaffirming her decision that the people here really were stunning.

Alexander, nearly six feet tall with a physique akin to an international supermodel and a flawless face, had deep-set eyes and thin lips that exuded sex appeal. Combined with his cool, aloof demeanor, it was no wonder he had amassed a considerable following in just a few years in the entertainment industry.

The youth of today just loved his type.

Amelia's exterior showed no emotion, but her inner thoughts were wildly active. She inwardly lamented, however, that this person was too cold, cold enough that she instinctively wanted to keep her distance.

Mom, I'm going to freeze to death here, she thought pitifully.

Upon reaching the company, Simon promptly pulled out the contract for Amelia to sign. She didn't even look at it before signing, which didn't surprise him.

Given that the contract came directly from the company's higher-ups, he could guess that Amelia, like Alexander, came from no ordinary background.

He inwardly exclaimed, wondering why these privileged second-generation youths didn't just enjoy their fortunes at home but instead flocked to the toughest places to bounce around.

After the contract was signed, Simon suggested to Alexander, "I plan to take Amelia around the company to get familiar with the place. Would you like to join us?"

He only asked out of politeness, knowing it was a long shot given that getting Alexander to even come back to the company was a stretch, let alone accompany a newbie around.

When Amelia heard this, her ears perked up, and she looked up at Alexander with big, hopeful eyes, full of anticipation.

At that moment, any pretense of sophistication and elegance she might have been maintaining was forgotten.

After all, she couldn't help but act up when away from her "scooper." Within minutes without supervision, she was bound to start causing trouble.

Alexander was actually planning to decline, but upon seeing Amelia's hopeful expression, he paused.

He hadn't expected the girl to be like this, looking at him as if she was a puppy waiting for a treat.

Seeing Amelia's delighted expression, Alexander's lips twitched ambiguously, and he raised an eyebrow and said, "Okay."

Amelia's eyes sparkled with joy. It was excellent.

Simon was somewhat surprised, silently observing Alexander and then Amelia. Was this world really just about looks?

It seemed even a certain film best actor couldn't escape the cliche, he mused.

Simon led his only two artists to familiarize themselves with the company's recording studios, dance studios, and other facilities.

Amelia, unable to stay calm for long when unwatched, soon started chatting up Alexander in a very familiar manner, "Alexander, your name is Alexander, right?"

Alexander glanced at her and nodded, "Mm."

Simon watched, understanding the situation better now.

Observing Amelia abandoning her previous air of aloof elegance for a chatty demeanor, he couldn't help but shake his head. Alexander's appearance was indeed very appealing to young girls, so Amelia's fondness for him was not surprising.

However, he believed that after spending more time together, Amelia would likely not maintain her affection, given his strange personality and cold demeanor, almost as if carved from stone.

As Amelia chatted with the handsome young man, her chattiness immediately came to the forefront, and she couldn't stop talking.

"Alexander, your last name is Black! I think you should have my name instead."

Alexander paused, looking at Amelia with a raised eyebrow, "Oh?"

Simon, also curious, asked, "Why?"

Amelia, with wide eyes, explained, "My grandmother chose my name. She said there was an incredibly beautiful woman in ancient times named Amelia Black, so she named me Amelia." Then she frowned slightly, adding, "But that beauty was called Amelia Black! And I'm not named Black."

Simon couldn't help but laugh, "So, Alexander should be called Amelia Black?"

A thought flashed through his mind, 'By thy name, crown my surname.' He glanced at Alexander and then shook his head. That man was an iceberg; who could like him for more than his looks?

And besides, Amelia was still so young!

Amelia nodded seriously, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, "Yes, because Alexander is also very handsome! He's the most handsome guy I've ever seen."

Simon couldn't help but burst into laughter. Having reviewed her file before, he knew she was just nineteen, truly still a child! He sneakily glanced at Alexander, wondering what his reaction was.

He was surprised; he had expected Amelia to be either spoiled or aloof. Instead, she turned out to be a talkative young girl, quite the opposite of her sophisticated appearance.

Alexander pulled at the corner of his mouth, his expression a bit indescribable. Being described as pretty by a beautiful girl wasn't necessarily a pleasant thing.

He couldn't help but turn to look at Amelia, who seemed exceptionally happy, her smile bright and dazzling.

Alexander was momentarily stunned by her unexpectedly joyful smile, which shook him a bit; the young girl in front of him differed completely from his initial impression of her.

When he first saw her on set, he felt she was no different from other women he disliked, except prettier.

But now, seeing her smile, he found it incredibly infectious; her eyes seemed to sparkle, untainted by any ulterior motives or insincerity.

She seemed genuinely happy just because she liked his appearance.

This must be what a girl pampered with affection looked like.

A person who has lived in darkness can easily perceive darkness in others' hearts. Yet, this young girl's heart appeared full of light, with no trace of darkness.

People who live in darkness are often drawn to light. And at that moment, Amelia seemed like a little sun, radiating brightness all around her.

Alexander's gaze darkened as he watched the sunny, smiling girl. He subtly curved his lips into a meaningful smile, expertly hiding his inner darkness and possessiveness.
