A writer?

I woke up early. I immediately focused on my computer and immediately started another chapter for the day. It was four in the dawn, and I was already focused on my computer while sipping the hot coffee I had brewed. Although I'm not such a famous writer, I just want to write because that's my passion. I don't care if I only have a few readers, what's important to me, I'm happy with what I'm doing.

A buzzed from my notification caught my attention. I frowned at my phone because I read a comment from one of the novels I was writing online. The corner of my lips slid upwards while reading the comment from my reader. Even though only a few read my novel, I feel overwhelmed every time I read such feedback from them. They like my works.

I stretched my arms while still smiling as rotated my chair. I sighed, "You can do this, Charlotte," I utter to myself to keep myself motivated.

When the sun rises, I opened the window and saw how the sun has risen from the west. I closed my eyes, as I was letting the sunlight hit my face. I lived alone. I don't have any parents, as I came from an orphanage. I live independently, and I work as I cashier during the day, and I'm a writer at night.

I started to take a bath, and I'm ready to start the day to work. After taking a bath, I walked straight to the coffee shop where I worked. When I entered, Lilia, one of my crew inside the shop never greeted me. Not even a smile, she never did that when I came into the shop.

"Not greeting me again?" I utter, but as usual, she ignores me and continues what she was doing. I rolled my eyes and change my clothes into my uniform. I was smiling when I came out of the dressing room to entertain customers.

"Good morning, Sir. What's your order?" I asked the male customer with a broad smile on my lips.

"Latte, please,"

"Okay, Sir. One Latte coming up,"

I was mixing coffee when suddenly Lilia bumped me causing me to burn myself. "Ah," I groaned as I burned my thumb. I glared at her, but she never say sorry to me. After mixing the coffee, I still managed to smile as I faced the male customers. "Here's your coffee, Sir,"

"You should cleanse your wound. You may get infections," he reminded me, but I never saw his face as he was wearing a cap. The man left the shop, but my eyes were still fixed on him. I looked at my thumb, and a smile was drawn at my face. I'm happy to know that someone in this world still cares for someone they didn't even know.

The boss came into the shop. "Where is the other money?" he asked me. I frowned as I counted the money again. I was so surprised when the money didn't reach the sales today.

"Sir... I didn't-,"

"Where is it?"

"I didn't do it. I never steal money from anyone," I defended.

"So, Are you telling me that Lilia did it?" he asked me.

"I never said that, Sir. The money must be misplaced. I never..."

"You're fired! I can't hire anymore and tolerate someone like you! I trusted you, Charlotte. How can you do this to me!" he raged, and I could see the smirk on Lilia's face while she was looking at me.

"You can leave now, and don't you dare come back here!" the boss told me. I lowered my shoulders, and politely bowed my head at him before I leave the shop. I feel like I'm a side character of my novels. I always ended up hurt, when I'm not doing anything that can be harmful to others.

It was a not-so-tiring day, I went home straight with a sad expression. I'm too lazy to write today. I lost my job, and I didn't know what I'll do next to sustain my daily needs. As I took my bag on me and hang it, I looked and walked closer to my computer and turn it on.

I searched online if I could find a job that suits me. I had message someone from the job hiring I applied for, but he said I'm not qualified for the position. I leaned my back in my chair and looked at the stars above the sky from my window. I was pen spinning when I suddenly thought of a scene right now. I started to write the plot I thought, and it was smooth. I have written five thousand words in just two hours and a half.

I was about to publish it when someone message me from my social media account. I looked into it and opened it.

"Hi! I'm a reader from America. I really love your work. You made me feel motivated and inspired me that love really takes time. I would love to look forwards to your future works. I love it. Excellent work, Author!" my eyes started to water while I'm reading that comment. I never felt anyone like this before. It was overwhelming. A smile was put on my lips while looking at that comment from a reader.

I message her back, "Thank you, you made my day," I closed my eyes, and I fell asleep afterward.

The following day... I got up from bed when I decided to find a job to sustain my daily needs. I need to find a job very soon, I might starve to death if I don't.

I was walking down the city when I saw a poster posted out of a publishing house. They're looking for a new assistant editor. The corner of my lips slid upwards, and I went inside to inquire.

"Good morning, Ms. How can I help you?" a woman with glasses asked me at the front desk. I smiled at her broadly, "I saw that job hiring outside, and I'm planning to apply,"

The woman lowered her glasses and seemed to examine my face down to my toes. I was just smiling at her, but when she looked back at my face, she was startled to see my face.

"Assistant editor?"

"Yes,"

"Do you have any experience on that job?" she asked.

"Not yet. But I'm willing to learn, Ma'am,"

"I don't you're qualified-,"

"Wait... What is it?" a man's voice cut her sentence. I looked back and saw the man who was my customer yesterday. The man who was wearing a cap yesterday. It was him. He's here!

"Oh, You?" he uttered in surprise.

"Ah, Yes,"

"You're the cashier from the coffee shop, right?"

"Yes, I am,"

"What are you doing here?"

"I was about to apply for the assistant editor. What about you?" I asked him.

"He smiled at me, "Hi, I'm Editor Jason Lee. Nice to meet you," I was stunned for a moment while looking at him.

"I'm Charlotte Parker. Nice to meet you too. But... You're the editor who's looking for an assistant?" I asked in confusion.

"Yes," he smiles even brighter. "What a small world," he added.

I smiled, "I guess so too,"

"You're willing to learn, right?" I immediately nodded my head with a smile.

"Okay. Let's go, follow me,"

"Yes!" I looked at the woman at the front desk while she was wearing a poker face, and she was shaking her head while watching me walk with Jason.

When we arrived at his office, he turn his back at me. "You get fired?" he suddenly asked me. I shyly nodded my head at him. "It's okay. You can start working with me from now on," he said to me, to make me feel at ease.

Jason then shown to me what he was doing as an editor. I loved how he works and teaches me how he do all of it. I nodded my head for the entire time. "Did you get it?" he asked.

"Yes, I am,"

"Alright, but before anything else... How's your thumb?" he asked me suddenly, causing my eyes to widen.

"P-Pardon?" he never responded as he grabbed my hands to him and checked if my thumb is fine.

I blinked as my eyes adjusted. My chest started to race inside me. My heartbeat fasten while he was holding my hands. I looked at him as I leaned myself closer to him, but the moment he looked back at me... my eyes became even widened. We're inches apart from each other, I could feel his warm breath.

He pulls himself back and clears his throat. I also averted my gaze and started to look for documents to read. I was flipping the page of a novel when I remember I had read about it.

"Wait..."

"Yes?"

"Is this the story of Ms. Vanessa about the "Dead Mirror?" I asked him with excitement, and he nodded his head.

"Woah... She's my favorite author,"

"You love to read?"

"Yes, not just read. I also write stories," my tongue slip. I never told anyone that I am a writer. I keep my identity confidential.

"You're a writer?"
