Chapter 3

PE was hell to say the least. You were expected to do things that normal people couldn't do. Well, if an excessive obstacle course counted. It wasn't hard for Crescent, but it seemed hard for the others. A handful of girls whine about it, they all seemed to be elites.

"Ugh an obstacle course again? I swear when will we move on to the new unit"

"I'm still sore from before"

Crescent was lucky to have Estelle in her PE class. She didn't know what she'd do without someone familiar in the class.

"Thank goodness you exist" Crescent mumbles.

"Haha. Are you good at obstacle courses?" Estelle inquired.

"If you count the poorer areas and constant cars passing as parkour then yes."


"Nice!" Estelle beams. She was the most agile person at school, and that was what ultimately got her to her student council position.

"Alright class! Listen up! You guys are going to finish the obstacle course in 5 minutes max! Anyone who takes longer than that will have to do the entire course again" The teacher yelled.

The signal to start rang as Crescent and Estelle both raced through the course. Estelle is quick, and with her mastered earthbending, she's able to jump with the pillars with ease. Crescent snickers while running, and she uses her airbending to race through, she's right behind Estelle. With a couple flips here and there, the two arrived at the end of the course, free to do whatever for the rest of class.

"You're really good! No wonder you're student council secretary haha" Crescent smiled.

"You were basically on par with me! You're full of surprises Crescent." Estelle grinned.

The two carried off in a conversation as they changed and headed off to their animals. The animal rooms were tall, and the elites had a pasture for their animals. Lower ranking people are forced to lock up their animals in cages. It came as a surprise that Crescent was allowed to let Ignes free.

"What's your animal guide?" Crescent asked, curious.

"A fire ferret! I call him Jagi!" Estelle grinned.

"That's so cute!" Crescent gasped.

"How about you?" Estelle peered at the girl.

"We're here." She cut her off.

"I'll call him." Crescent smiled.

A soft bird noise escaped her mouth as a phoenix landed on her shoulder.

"A pHOENIX?" Estelle gasped. "YO THAT'S SO COOL"

"Thank you haha" Crescent rubbed her arm. Ignes relocates himself and sits on her head, and Estelle looks at the bird in awe. The breeze rustles Crescent's hair, and her phoenix mark shows slightly.

"You have the mark too?" Estelle takes notice. Her fire ferret climbs up Crescent, and flinches when the heat of the bird gets to it.

"Yeah" the ferret jumps back onto Estelle.

"Better not have anyone else find out. Wouldn't be too much good news." Estelle sighed. She plays with her fire furret.

"I know right. Quite sad." Crescent gazed at her bird. "You can go now Ignes"

The bird flew off as the two watched it fly. The two hear the cling of the atheltics teacher's bell, and the two head back to change. Estelle laughs softly and Crescent turns to her confused.

"I'm guessing in 3 days there'll be rumors that there's a phoenix owner in the school. And I'm placing $20 that Hatsuki's gonna say that's her bird."
