10) Studying Abroad (Not Really)

"Have either of you been out of the country before? Well I assume you have Furō, but Yuta?"

Me, Gojo, and Yuta all sat in a small office, with some snacks and coffee (even though I told Gojo I hated the beverage.)

"No, I haven't. I'm assuming you're asking because we're going out of the country soon?"

"Precisely Yuta. There is an important mission for both of you."

OH??!

Me and Yuta going out the country together to fight curses and learn how to be the strongest? I could never ask for anything more exciting!!

"Yuta, I'm sending you to Africa with a sorcerer I know to find a cursed tool and train,"

Welp. There goes my hopes and dreams…

"and Furō, you're going to Europe to exorcise 9 spirits that have been kept locked up for a…really long time. You'll have assistance in the process, of course."

While I was definitely interested in this request, it made me question why me and Yuta's missions weren't reversed. He's undoubtedly stronger than me and exorcising the spirits should be no big deal.

"If you don't mind me asking," I pointed at Yuta. "shouldn't Yuta take this on instead? I mean not to be a wet blanket but I think he's a more qualified."

Yuta's face became very satisfied from the praise.

"I was thinking about that as well, but there is something I need Yuta to look for specifically and Miguel doesn't like me all that much—"

"Miguel? The guy you fought during the Hyakki Yakō?" Yuta asked.

"I wouldn't call it a fight haha…" Gojo concerningly scratched his head..

-Flashback to Gojo beating the absolute shit out of Miguel-

"Well anyways, you two are going to Miguel's home where the black rope was made in hopes you can find more. There are additional reasons but that's the main reason."

"Well, what about me?" I asked Gojo

"My good ol' pal Nanami will accompany you in slaying the 9 curses."

"What does that have to do with-"

"I'M GETTING THERE OKAY?! Basically, there are these 9 spirits known as the Valkyries. Their souls were once combined into one, singular body but inevitably split into 8 different entities due to unknown reasons. Sorceres managed to separate them into different chambers and force them into a hibernation mode."

"Well why can't we leave them in hibernation?"

"We would, but their CE is beginning to rise extremely quickly. Soon, all 8 will awaken one by one and wreak havoc all over Europe."

Gojo's phone began ringing with a rhythmic chime. He then put the phone to his ear.

"Hi, Gojo here.

Oh really now?

Mhm…mhm…

Ah, I see.

I'll get them ready then!"

Me and Yuta looked at each other in confusion.

"Anyways, you both have two weeks to prepare for your trips. Nanami and Miguel seem extra impatient to get things done and over but, duty calls and you two aren't quite ready yet."

"Well if you don't mind us, we'll be on our way now. Right Furō?"

Yuta was READY to leave, and I don't blame him. We only have two weeks to train, get all we need, and get a feel for our travel peers.

"Yeah, let's go. See ya Gojo." I waved at him and left the room along with Yuta.

"Aren't you excited? We're going out of the country!! I'M GOING TO AFRICA!!" Yuta cheered.

"To be fair, you have something better to look forward to, but I just have to kill things…"

I didn't mean to kill the mood but it's true. Although I'm extremely interested in the history of the Valkyries, having to go all the way to another country to just exorcise them sounds like a hassle..

"Surely you'll find some positives in going and I know we'll both get stronger aswell." Yuta patted my back.

"I guess you're right. I'm gonna miss you man."

Yuta just smiled warmly and walked down the hallway.

I guess we have our immediate futures planned for us. Time to work my ass off for the next 14 days…
