Chapter 39: Bread and Blunders

<strong>*Eris' POV*</strong>

I had a few dresses to choose from now, thanks to each of the guys. The one I pulled from the wardrobe to go to the theater was made of a soft lavender fabric – a gift from Atlas. As I pulled my sandals on, I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in," I said hesitantly, expecting it to be Kyros. When Messene entered, I was only slightly surprised. "Is everything okay?" I asked as I resumed fastening my sandals.

"Yes, Eris. I was just coming to see if you'd like me to braid your hair before you leave."

I looked in the mirror that hung across from me. My hair hung in loose waves around my face which grew paler by the day. "That would be lovely, Messene, thank you."

She stood beside the vanity mirror and waited for me to join her, brush already in hand.

Her deft fingers made quick work of my tangled hair, plaiting it in a crown about my head. "There," she said when she was finished. "You look absolutely radiant."
