The 100 : The duty of a leader

(Slow Pace) When he died, Leon wouldn't have imagined that he would have a second chance. A new world, a new life, stripped of memories of the past ,remembering only what he loved and nothing more, armed with nothing other than his guts and body , how will Leon survive in this world torn by nuclear war and ruled by primitive civilizations ? Note : I don't own The 100 or any other characters that may resemble in any kind of way any characters form various shows and games. If I were to say that I own something, that would be my idea of changing a world, but that's what fanfiction is ain't it?

Chapter 145 - Goodbye

"I forgot to tell you something. It's related to Murphy and Emori."

"What?"

"The two of them came to the mainland an hour after us, they are in Polis right now."

For whatever reason unknown to me and Clarke, Bellamy chooses to keep this information hidden until the very last moment. Then again, maybe he just found that our professional cockroach and his girlfriend had left the island or maybe he simply forgot about it due to his sister taking part in this enclave.

"If we didn't have to hurry to take Raven and beat some sense into her, I would have taught you a lesson."

"Yeah, yeah, Leon."

Seeing that Bellamy wasn't scared even a little, I could only roll my eyes at my friend before we went toward the bunker. Even though Clarke and I become Nightbloods, we still don't know if we are immune to the radiation or not. Because of that, the three of us decided to "steal" some of the suits that we found inside the bunker, after all, with how many of them are there, three missing suits wouldn't be a problem.

Once we got into our suits, Clarke passes me and Bellamy watches with a countdown on them, along with the radiation levels, before she then walks over to the armory to get some guns for us, just in case we are attacked by grounders while we race against time. Just as I was about to leave the bunker, Clarke grabs my shoulder and puts her walkie-talkie to maximum volume so that both Bellamy and I could hear her mother.

"At these radiation levels, any amount of exposure is harmful. Keep the suit sealed at all times. You have 23 hours until the death wave hits. If you three don't stumble across any problems, it should take you 10 hours to get to the island and 10 hours to get back. That doesn't leave you much room for error, so please rethink your decision."

"Mom, we know, okay? We'll be careful."

"I love you, Clarke. Don't ever forget that."

"This isn't goodbye. Mom, I know what you saw in that vision, but I'm a Nightblood now."

"Leon, Bellamy, take care of my girl and keep her from doing anything stupid like she usually does."

"Yes, ma'am."

As soon as Abby said her goodbyes to her daughter he climbed into the room and just as we were about to leave the tower Murphy and Emori call for us.

"Wait for a second guys! You got room for two more?"

"Murphy, what are you two doing here?"

"We heard you were going after Raven, we just want to help."

"I've been to that island dozens of times. No one knows the water better than me."

Out of all of the people that are in Polis, Murphy, and Emori were the last ones I would have expected to approach us and even offer their assistance to reach the island. While Clarke knew the way, it wouldn't hurt to have Emori with us, besides I'm more than sure that these two aren't coming with us just to save Raven.

"What are you really up to, John? I'm sorry to say this, but despite us being friends, I doubt you will risk Emori's life for Raven, since I for one wouldn't risk the life of my loved ones for someone else."

"Do you really think that our people are gonna waste a spot on Emori, or on me? Even though Mount Weather is big enough for a few hundred people, they won't let the two of us there, because I left our people and Emori is a grounder. Do you want to know what we're up to? It's called surviving. There's a bunker on that island, you're our ride. That's the truth, Leon."

Before I could say anything to him, Clarke argues with his logic. "That bunker's not stocked, Murphy. You won't last 5 months, let alone 5 years in there."

"No, we probably won't. But, at least we'll survive the death wave. Besides, we can't all be essential personnel or have a sister who's the new queen of the Grounders, or in Leon's case, the only reason Mount Weather still exists. You three and even Raven are welcome inside the bunker, but Emori and I aren't."

"John, I can guarantee you and Emori a spot inside the Mountain, and I'm more than sure that neither Kane nor Abby would risk a mutiny right now."

"Thanks, Leon, but knowing you, you will give us your spot and frankly while I want to survive, I'm not an ungrateful bastard that would kill his only true friend and the only person that didn't treat me like shit."

As soon as he said that, Murphy turns away from us. Even though he was right, now wasn't the time for this, more so ever when I looked at Clarke and Bellamy and saw the guilt weighing on them, the deaths of all those that died because of them, and now the deaths of our friends. However as I said before this wasn't the time for those dark thoughts and before John leaves without us, I dragged Clarke and Bellamy and caught up with the couple.

A few minutes later, all five of us reach the large truck that once held hydrazine intended for a space mission. As soon as we were next to the truck, Emori and Murphy jump into the back and get themselves comfortable, while Bellamy and Clarke sit in the front, with Bellamy behind the wheel and Clarke in the passenger seat, leaving me with a choice to make. In the end, I decided to ride in the front with Clarke and Bellamy, leaving the couple alone since to be fair, they deserve some alone time considering what's going to happen. As soon we left Polis, I decided to ask Clarke something about bothering me ever since she stopped me from going after Raven.

"Why did you come on this mission, Clarke?"

"What do you mean, Leon? Raven's my friend. Of course, I would come after her."

"C'mon Clarke, you were fine leaving my girlfriend out to die, heck you would have left Octavia and Kane if we wouldn't have Mount Weather. Jaha told me that he was ready to keep the bunker closed if Mount Weather was deemed inhabitable for five years."

"I wasn't fine with it, and you know that! I never meant to hurt you or Raven, but at the same time I couldn't let you leave Polis, especially with what happened with the entrance."

"Yeah sure, using the fact that I won't leave my friends alone when there's a war brewing is a strange way of showing that you care."

"I wasn't the one who wanted this to happen."

"And you really think that this is supposed to make everything ok just because it happened?"

"Nothing is all right with everything that's happening, Leon! Whatever choice I make, somebody always dies. You out of all of us know that feeling better than anyone!"

This was the first time I heard Clarke saying this and to be honest I could understand why she would react like that, but still what she had done wasn't the right thing she could have done.

"Well, keeping me in Polis was probably your best decision, considering I just saved the bunker from being taken over by some rogue grounders."

She turns to look at me, hearing the way I talked and how my anger was slowly dissipating. She gave me a smile before her face morphed into shock and panic as she shouted.

"Look out!"

Out of nowhere, a man jumps in the middle of the road, right in front of our truck. Thankfully, Clarke saw him in time thus giving Bellamy the chance of avoiding the man, but sadly it wasn't enough as the truck still hits the man, at least the grounder wasn't run over by a truck. Bellamy quickly stopped the truck, before he gets off the truck.

"Hold on!"

Thanks to the last change in direction as well as Bellamy's attempt at slowing our truck down, he hit a tree forcing us to a rather violent stop. "Everyone's okay?"

"Yes."

"Clarke?"

"I'm okay, Leon."

Once he recovered, Bellamy gets the door open and as soon as he does, he is yanked out of the truck and pulled to the ground. Clarke does the same and gets the same treatment leaving me in the truck alone. Rather than going outside and having the same fate as them, I choose to wait inside the truck, and if one of the grounders does indeed check inside, then the last thing he would see would be the muzzle flash of my pistol.
