33. Encounter in the Woods
CHAPTER 33: Encounter in the Woods
There's a more than likely chance that the imperial envoy is in that village. If he's not then the mercenaries likely know what happened with him. Either way I'm thinking they are involved with the Okutake Family. Back to the matter at hand. The girl continues to look at me with desperate eyes.
I need a bit more information.
"So what exactly do you want me to do about it?" I ask her.
She proceeds explain her purpose in coming to Fort Defal. Seeking a group of people to rescue her village at the promise of a price.
To be honest, not my cup of tea. I'm already involved in a similar situation. The thing is my third mission. I need to get to her village to start my investigation of the location of the envoy. So might as well kill two birds with one stone. This makes things more difficult but I cannot get the information I need with the villagers under their control. Maybe they have the envoy or maybe they were involved in the kidnapping. Either way I have to get to the village and decide my next course of action then.
"Let's talk about the price shall we?" I ask her.
"Before I came here, the villagers agreed to pay their savior their choice of price." She answers.
So we get to choose our price. It's a village near the border to the empire. It might hold some interesting prices to say the least. Well it sounds good to me but I'll have to make my decision when I see everything.
"I will consider it once I have more information." I tell her.
"Please save my village. My family is still residing there." She pleads.
"Don't worry kid. If I'm correct, your village will be liberated from those fools."
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!!!!!
A knock on the door catches my attention. They're finally here. It's been over an hour. I wonder how she got Helena to meet me? It's going to be awkward.
I braced myself for impact and get up. I walk up to the door, my hand reaches for the door handle. I twist it and pull open the door. The two hurriedly enter without saying anything. They proceed straight to the living room where they meet Riele. I look around the hallway to make sure it's empty before returning inside and close the door.
I join the girls in the living room. As expected things are awkward. Of course they assume the obvious about me and the girl. The girl does likewise about me and them two.
"I thought we agreed to wait till the night?" Freya demands.
"I didn't forget it. This isn't what you think. She's just a waitress working nearby who was asking for my help." I explain.
I would fuck Riele at the drop of a head but I'm just not turned on by anything smaller than a C-cup. Minimum has to be C-cup. Maybe if I'm drunk I get turned on but it's very rare that a woman smaller than C-cup gets my boner stirring.
"Riele can you wait for me by the restaurant at dawn. We'll travel fast so pack light. Only the bare essentials." I added. Things were not getting worse with all three.
"Okay and thank you so much! I promise you won't regret this!" She hugs me with teary eyes. Things get even more awkward with the silence. I honestly don't know how to react to this. How do you handle this much awkwardness. Oh I know, I'm gonna get drunk so I don't think about it.
Merus and his band of misfits sat around a fire in the cold dead of night. After a day of traveling they were resting their weary bodies.
Just a few meters away Menato Sanchez sat alone on a tree branch. Away from the laughter and talking of others. He was a loner for a wolf. Not into the way of being surrounded by a pack like most of his kin.
"There's something I've been meaning to ask you." Merus suddenly began.
"Go ahead!" Menato dryly answered.
He waited for a response but nothing came. He finally turned to Merus but Merus appeared terrified. He was looking off into a particular direction with a look of horror.
"Shit! It's too late! They've already spotted us! Everyone prepare for combat!!" Merus warned to everyone.
"What's going on!?" Menato demanded.
"Its Kail and Kaku!! They're headed this way plus 2 more!!" Merus answered.
"Kail as in the S-class adventurer!?" Another of the Beastkin asked. Merus simply nodded his head.
"Merus the Phantom Wizard!!" A loud growl like voice called from the shadows of the forest.
"What are you doing with this brats of the Okutake House!?"A lighter but still manly voice asked.
Like a phantom they showed themselves. Kaku the giant wolf kin. Kail the elven S-class adventurer. Sheyla the Tribal Warrior. Trent the Fire King. Four of the most powerful adventurers in all of Rostalio.
"Who are you calling brats!!?" One of the bullkin took offence and charged at Kail with his large sword.
"SIT DOWN BOY!!!" Kail let out a powerful roar of magical energy that released an enormous pressure wave. All of Merus and his friends were pushed to the ground. Unable to breath let alone stand from the sheer pressure.
"Why are you attacking my subordinates Kail?" A calm voice suddenly joined. Just like that Kail's pressure wave of magical energy vanished. Everyone turned to see the familiar sight of Toshiba Okutake. One of the strongest of the House of Okutake.
"I will be the one asking the questions Toshiba! Why are you working together with this scoundrel!?" Kaku demanded. His face seething with anger. Even the great Toshiba was a little intimidated. Kaku wasn't even using his Martial Skills Magic. It was just good old animal intimidation.
"I see not how that concerns a peasant such as yourself!" Toshiba answered.
"How about I make you answer!?" Trent joined in. He too was releasing a ridiculous amount of killing intent. His specialist fiery aura was about to burst out. Using his flames to burn everything in sight.
"Are you sure you want the entire Okutake House as your enemy? You should be well aware of our reputation to get even!" Toshiba threatened.
"How about we just kill all of you!?" Sheyla also joined. She reached for her short dual swords. Her Martial Skill Magic was already set to activate. A light blue aura surrounded her body.
"Sheyla has a point! Killing you all will mean no one will know who did it!" Kail agreed and once again released his magical energy. The struggling Beastkin went back to the ground. Only Toshiba was able to stand but that was only barely.
Sweat was running down the face of Toshiba. He was scared for his life. All four of the people in front of him were S-class adventurers. The only reason they've yet to be promoted was because S-class adventurers required the permit of not only the king but the guild chief of Rostalio. They have not met the king and guild chief because of the situation of the kingdom. For Kail this happened more than 20 years ago.
Toshiba was quaking in his boots. About to face his biggest test in life. Against arguably the strongest party of adventurers Rostalio has ever seen. Even if he could take down one, it wasn't very likely he would survive that fight. It was a lose lose situation for him.
The Plan was well under way. They were just waiting for news from the capital on their next course of action. Everything his family spend nearly 3 centuries plotting was about to come to fruition. How could he die when it was just about to come true?
"Well isn't this interesting?" Another voice suddenly chimed in.
They all turned to see a tall beautiful woman in skin tight full body black leather. An array of knives and swords and daggers all over her perfect figure.
"Uncle Toshiba!" Another voice sounded. A young man in red leather armour and a long black robe showed up beside the woman in black.
"Sorry we're late uncle Toshiba!" Again another voice joined. This time a young noble woman in a beautiful silky blood red one piece dress that emphasised her perfect hourglass figure.
Things were about to heat up but instead three more people showed up. Two more from the Okutake House and a mysterious young woman in all leather. Leather so tight her large bosom was about to jump out and say howdy.
Unbeknownst to them all, a mysterious figure floating in the sky watched it all unfold. A smile formed that revealed only the teeth. It's entire body covered in a large black cloak.
"How pathetic." It said in a dissatisfied tone.
