NPCs

I never realized just how long it takes to create a dungeon by yourself.

Its been roughly a year and a half since I created the Tempest Guild and used the Waterfall Palace as my guild base. After redesigning the entire building, to have white, gold, blue, and violet as main colors, with a ton of vegetation, such as vines, flowers, trees, and other plants, I can finally start by making NPCs.

At first, I was worried that some Heteromorph players would discover my unprotected Guild Base and raid it, but then, inspiration came to me while reading the Yggdrasil forums. A lot of dungeons aren't able to be discovered unless under random conditions, such as a full moon, or during a blizzard, so I asked [Great Sage EX] to hack Yggdrasil once again and place multiple conditions on the finding of our Guild Base.

The first condition is that it can only be found during midnight of a full moon. The second is that it cannot be seen except from a single angle, only being able to be spotted from the front and not from the cliff-face. Finally, I made it so that the area around the Guild Base had increased monster spawns with monsters that gave negative status effects but poor exp rates. Now, even if players wander into the area, they will be 'slowed', 'blinded', and 'poisoned' by high-level monsters who give out worthless loot and can even be used for grinding due to poor exp rates.

Of course, since Yggdrasil is at the height of its popularity right now, I made sure to make dozens of other Guild Bases and around 30 dungeons in various worlds all have something similar happen, so if the Dev's or GMs ever 'fixed' this, they wouldn't suspect my involvement. On the flip side, I also gave Nazzarick the same treatment, so its even harder to raid.

From the outside, it might seem like I'm trying to help them out, but I really just need a ton of enemies to kill while building up World Savior to the point of one-shoting all of Nazarick's NPCs on my way there.

Anyways, I've finally finished up everything for NPCs to be added. Since my main goal is for them to become real people in the new world, I've got to make them super-efficient and powerful in more ways than one. [Great Sage EX] told me that, although most Yggdrassil Job and Racial Classes will be transformed into skills, NPCs have a hard time gaining powerful skills or Unique Skills and none have ever achieved an Ultimate Skill. They also won't gain Unique Skills during the transfer, but all Human NPCs will evolve into Human Sages, which are on par with the Kijin.

With this in mind, I divided my NPCs into two categories, the support NPCs and a special group I created named them the 'Trinity Seven Stars' who will serve as advisors, ministers, generals, and other specialist roles. Plus they will be a group of my most powerful fighters or most intelligent followers.

I definitely didn't rip off the name from an ecchi anime or a certain fanfic about a demon king. The Trinity Seven Stars consists of 21 'Seats' split into three groups of seven (go figure). Three 'Overseers' who oversee and manage seven seats, and a multitude of 'Pillars' who will serve each of the 'Seats'. Of course, there are others outside of this ranking, such as Shion. For the most part, these 24 members will be my main fighting force and advisors, but since she isn't the type to be a 'Seat' or 'Pillar' and isn't intelligent enough to be an Overseer she won't be a part of the Trinity Seven Stars. Its not like I won't have her around though.

I have reserved a number of seats and pillars for future subordinates, like Benimaru, Shion, Souei, and Hakuro as well as the Overseer positions for Albedo, Demiurge, and Da Vinchi. I reserved 5 seats for others whom I will encounter during my time in the new world, leaving me with 18 Seats to fill. I also decided to make all of my NPCs references to people from anime and manga. Mostly because I suck at coming up with unique characters. It's also a coincidence that most of them are women.

Yup. A coincidence.

Anyways, the breakdown goes something like this:

After creating the supermajority of the NPCs that I made customized, I spend another day creating various maids and other attendants who will clean the Palace when the transfer occurs. I created Grayfia Lucifuge as the head maid who will work closely with Sebas when I get him to keep everything nice and neat. I also created Ram and Rem as well as my own, green-haired and eyed sister for them, named Rum. They will be the heads of the Homunculus Maids, while Yuri Alpha will lead the Pleiades Battle Maids, though it is a redundant name since I will be updating all of the Nazarick Maids to be battle maids, at least to the level of B-Grade, which I speculate is about where Gazef caps out.

I also created dozens of copies of 2B as automata who will serve as maids for the Trinity Star Seven. It was a strange experience, finishing up making them all. They all look almost identical, though they all have different hairstyles and weapons, but I suppose I should get used to it.

...

Its been roughly eight years since Yggdrasil was released and today is the fated day of the Nazzarik Great Raid. 1500 Players have gathered, all for the sole purpose of destroying Nazarick and ruining Ainz Ooal Gown.

Normally, since I plan to destroy Nazzarick myself, you'd think I would be among them, but you would be wrong. I am actually standing alongside Mamonga and Touch Me in Nazarick's throne room, looking out at the group who is just about to enter the Tomb.

"You were right. There are at least a thousand or more Players here today." Mamonga said as he turned to me.

"Yeah, well, I may not qualify to be a part of your guild, but I at least want to be a friend of you guys and friends don't let friends get raided," I say. Its true. All of the members of Ainz Ooal Gown are pretty chill once you get used to them. Even Ulbert Alain Odle with his chuunibyou and Peroroncino with his perversions are fun to be around all the time. I've even invited them to my Guild base a few times.

Blue Planet was supper helpful with decorating the palace and Peroroncino was able to help me min-max my NPCs to an insane degree. I let Amanomahitotsu come over the most to use my World Item Soul Forge since it allows anyone to create Divine-Class relics if they have the skill, much easier than other forges. So far, Ainz Ooal Gown only knows that I have this world item and they aren't willing to steal it, since I let them use it whenever they want, and I'm a friend, though they almost amended their rules to allow humanoids to enter their Guild just so I would join them, but it was rejected one they found out that the item would disappear if my Guild were to be dissolved.

I may be planning to destroy them, but that isn't until the far-far future, so its best to gain all the benefits of their trust while I can, plus Amanomahitotsu also offered to make me my Guild Item if I ever make one. Having an experienced Level 100 Craftsman, working with a World Item using Divine Class Ingredients resulted in a marvelous creation. It was a straight-edge Katana on par with the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown. It is Soul Bound and Indestructible, so I don't have to worry about it breaking or being used by someone else. It also has lore connected to it saying that "All cuts with the blade, rend open space-time and can even cut through causality."

According to [Great Sage EX]'s analysis, by not putting on any more enchantments, the Blade will crystalize into something similar to an EX-Ranked Noble Phantasm and will be capable of cutting a person and damaging their skills in the New World. I effectively have a way to seal or outright destroy skills once I got there as if I wasn't OP enough.

...

"Damn it! Shalltear isn't set up to fight huge groups like that! I like watching loli's get destroyed, but not like this!" Peroroncino yelled as we watched Shalltear get absolutely decimated by the huge group of players. I felt like I should say something, but Bukubukuchagama beat me to it by punching him in his avian head.

'How does a slime punch someone?' I think to myself before turning towards Mamonga. "I'll help you guys if you're about to be overrun, but I don't want to make enemies out of so many different guilds when I'm all alone in Tempest."

"That's understandable. You already have quite a positive reputation among the community, it would be problematic for you if you were seen helping Heteromorphs." He said back to me.

"DON'T WORRY FRIEND! FOR YOU ARE ON THE SIDE OF JUSTICE!" Touch Me yells as he makes a pose and emotes in kanji write out 'justice'. I use the sweat drop emoji and everyone laughs. It's a rare thing for all 41 Members plus one, to be gathered together at the same time, so we come up with a few plans.

I end up using most of my MP to buff a few combatants who then start hit-and-run tactics on the enemy as they chisel away at the force. By the time they make it to the fourth floor, only 1350 remain. They fight alongside all of their Area Guardians, too, which chips away quite a few of them during every major battle.

Again, alongside Gargantua, the members of Ainz Ooal Gown face off against the horde of players but are unable to fully repel the invaders. This trend continues for several floors until they reach the eighth floor. It's a good thing they all had enough time to prepare, otherwise, they would be out of gear. In Yggdrasil, you always drop the most valuable item that you have equipped when you die in PvP, so my warning gave them time to prepare Relic and Legacy Class Gear to use as disposable equipment that they didn't mind losing.

There are only about 800 players left and many of them are running low on daily skills and they are tired, at least mentally, from the constant stress of the multiple ambushes Ainz Ooal Gown has put out, though Ainz Ooal Gown isn't doing much better. They all lost a substantial amount of levels but with Avarice and Generosity, they are able to top themselves up.

Ainz has the home-field advantage, because, even if they die, they respawn immediately back on the 9th Floor, can equip trash tier gear, then run back out. They can also collect exp from players they kill in their World Item to restore the levels they lose when dying, but the other players aren't so lucky. They lose their best gear, which is used for raiding, and they respond back at their guild bases when they die, with lost levels. Even if they wanted to come back and act as reinforcements, they would be unable to, since trekking all the way back to Helheim from their bases, through the harsh swamps and difficult to navigate terrain, while having to worry about ambushes from the other Heteromorph players, the journey would still take them a few hours, and no one is going to put up with that.

As the last few hundred players make their way to the desolate eighth floor, they stop to rest. The eighth floor looks inconspicuous, since its just a vast, empty wasteland. It would be easy to assume that this floor is just under construction, but far from it. The eight floor is empty because the main battlefield takes place here. Buildings or other cover would just get in the way.

"Alright! Lets go! We should hit them now and make them feel dispair! They shall know the depth of their folly when this World Disaster befalls them!" Ulbert Alain Odle shouts.

"Attacking them while they aren't on guard is cowardly!" Touch Me responds.

"Well I'd say that picking on another Guild with close to 1500 players is unfair too, Touch Me-san" I replied.

"Yeah! They also attack us all the time when we are minding our own business just because we chose to play Heteromorphs!" Garent yells from the back.

"All right, all right everyone, lets calm down. We should wait for them to be in a more advantageous position before launching an ambush though. As they are now, they aren't all within range of Victim's AOE debuff, so we should wait while equipping our full Divine Class gear sets. If we don't win this time, Nazzarick is lost." Mamonga points out. I don't know why he thinks so lowly of himself in Overlord, he is a fine leader, at least tactically speaking.

"We should also use THAT right?" Variable Talisman asks.

"Well, it would be nice to see my daughter finally get some action" Tabula Smaragdina replied.

I emoted a confused look. Its a good thing that Yggdrasil doesn't show facial features yet, since I feel like I am grinning ear-to-ear right now. "What are you talking about?" I lie. I know they mean Nazzarick's ultimate weapon Rubedo.

"Well, you remember when we had the monopoly on the Celestial Uranium and other High-end ores and crystals, Rimuru-san?"

"Yeah..."

"Well, if you hord enough of them you can get a World Item known as a Caloric Stone. It can be used to power a golem as its core. How strong do you think a golem, with its core made of a World Item, and all other components being made of Maxed out Divine-Class items could be?"

"It would be at least on the level of World Enemy Event Boss.. you don't mean..."

"Hahaha! Tremble young Rimuru! For you see, we have created such a being!" Ulbert brags while making Jojos poses. Its been like 100 years since Jojos ended and people still reference them today, that's wild.

I release a sighing icon. "Well, I guess its a good thing I'm your friend, since gods help me if I was your enemy" I pretend to sound defeated.

"Well don't worry to much. Rubedo isn't allowed outside of Nazzarick for any reason anyways, so even if we did fight, you wouldn't have to worry about her." Mamonga says as he gives a sweat drop emoji.

"Its time! They're moving!" Tocuh Me yells as he teleports to the 8th floor.

"May the heavens have mercy! FOR. I. HAVE. NONE!" Ulbert yells as he teleports out.

"""*Sigh*""" Half of the guild sigh before following their two most eccentric members.

Mamonga remains on this throne and the other non-combatants all gather around the Mirror of Remote Viewing to watch the spectical. Tabula Smaragdina has appeared with Rubedo and they are all simply waiting for Victim to die at the hands of the player mob.

It takes less than a second. Less than a second for the Great Tomb of Nazzarick's greatest threat to become nothing more than sheep to the slaughter. Victim's name is fitting, since he only has the stats of a Level 20, but his debuffs that go off when dying all decrease every enemy's stats by over 75%. Effectively making all these level 100 players into beings weaker than the Pleiades.

Rubedo appears too, as a wind-up doll looking thing. She looks almost identical to Albedo if Albedo was a loli with red hair. She wears a gothic loli style dress in a bright blue color with white frills, but her blood red hair and hollow black eyes and sclera give her a disquieting appearance, especially after she is wound up and her face twists to one of a dark smile. Nothing can be seen within her much, no tongue, no teeth, just a black void.

I shiver a little and than goodness for [Fear Resistance], since I would probably jump in fright if I saw that before I added that skill to my list.

"Now! Let the slaughter commense!" Mamonga laughed, really playing up his role as a mercilous Undead Overlord.

...

After several hours of combat, most of which involved the members of Ainz Ooal Gown, Rubedo, and the other eighth floor defensive units chasing and massacring around 800 players as they try to flee the eighth floor, hoping for their debuffs to run out, the Great Raid was over.

Ironically, this even set off the cascade of poor decisions and drama that would lead to the game of Yggdrasil being shut down. So many guilds would take what they learned from this day to improve their defenses in their Guild Bases, making taking over even smaller guilds almost as hard as challenging Raids. This would slowly cause the player-base who focused on raiding to quit over the next year.

Another deathblow wasy the loss of so many high-class items from Guild Members who died during the raid. A lot of people don't have access to Divine-Class loot, and the few that do, only have a small amount of it. Because of the Yggdrasil game condition of dropping your most valuable piece of equipment, hundreds of players just lost the loot they spent hours or days grinding to make, steal, or purchase, causing many to rage-quit.

The torment on Heteromorph players also increased, with anyplayer who wasn't a humanoid or demi-human being attacked the moment they were seen by other players. Although the Heteromorphs had always been targetted, now, there were hunting parties for Heteromorphs because the players who lost their loot wanted to get back at Nazzarick, but since they couldn't they took it out on other Heteromorph players.

All in all, that year saw over half of the player base rage-quit due to the fallout of this event. The Devs tried to make it better by removing the item drop on kill penalty and buffing raiding parties who were fighting dungeons owned by guilds, but they over-did it. Now raiding parties were too strong, and every other day, famous bases, once though inpenetrable, were raided by frighteningly small partys.

Seeing all their hard work ruined in less than a day, even more players quit. Finally, when the buff was removed, less than 10% of the player-base remained. Only two more years until Yggdrasil shuts down.

Sorry guys, I know I said that this chapter would involve Rimuru raiding Nazarick, but I just couldn't fit it in. Something came up. I'll be uploading later tonight the last part, so stay tuned.
