After Ai left my room to prepare dinner, I also tried to leave the room by slowly releasing myself from Ruby's embrace, who was still fast asleep by my side. It wasn't easy because she hugged me firmly, surprisingly, as I didn't want to wake her up either. But before I went to the dining room. I stepped into the bathroom.
Then I wiped my face on the sink and looked at the mirror before me. There, I could see my reflected face and found that there was no difference from my usual appearance. I myself didn't know what to expect. It's just that, unlike what I expected, I don't really feel very guilty. Even though I caused someone to die and I saw Jimina's demise.
I thought that it could be because I didn't kill him directly, plus that I thought that he deserved it. Therefore, I felt no guilt at all, which is fine with me. It's just that I can't help but think that what I feel now is very different from how I must have felt in my past life. It feels like my personality is starting to differ greatly from my past life.
It's only natural, considering that I have various experiences vastly different from my past life. I only slightly hoped that the emotional changes I could feel were not due to my supernatural abilities because I didn't want to think that I had powers that could somehow cause me to become numb to something.
"Hah— I guess I don't have to think about it too much right now."
Now, there's one big thing I need to overcome first, mainly regarding the new things that happened to my body and also the supernatural abilities that I have. Something that I can feel is tied to my spiritual energy. Without having to think much, I immediately understood what was happening because it was not a difficult thing to understand.
I needed to take a few deep breaths to calm myself down and prepare myself to finally try to summon the soul tied to my spiritual power.
"Come—"
I said so, and I could feel my spiritual power diminishing before something moved. The thing that moved appeared from my shadow on the floor. The first thing that appeared was a hand that came out, which then moved so that the soul's body could come out of the shadow. Honestly, I couldn't help myself why they couldn't come out like ordinary people. It felt like I was witnessing a ghost that came out of the television from a famous movie in person.
Finally, the entire body of the soul came out of the shadows, taking the form of a shadowy spirit standing behind me. It was as if that was where the spirit was supposed to be.
Then, unlike the female spirit in Jimina's production house, the spirit beside me did not give the impression of having a personality or the like. It was a female spirit wearing a large white cloth covering herself, with her head bowed and her long black hair covering all of her face as if she did not want to show her face.
I turned to stare at the spirit that was just silent and made a big impression on me. This spirit was similar to a famous ghost in my past life. If I remember where I was born, this spirit is identical to the ghost commonly called kuntilanak. I wonder if I will call her 'kunti' or something.
"Or I just called her Shiro or something, but she wasn't a dog or something. It's just that I feel weird calling her without a name. Yeah, I think it's easiest to call you Shiro after all."
Even though I said that I would give her a name, I didn't feel any reaction from Shiro. For some reason, I was hoping for a response from this spirit, so I threw out various names, including the names of the spirits I saw remembering them at Jimina's production house. Even so, I did not get a reaction from the spirit standing before me. Perhaps it was because it was already under my control and also because it was basically not as powerful as the one in Jimina's production house.
Or this spirit only moves when it listens to my commands.
"Okay, then— How about you show your face?" I ordered this because I was curious about what it looked like behind the hair of this spirit. I hope I won't be shown anything horrible.
Without making a sound, the soul I named Shiro raised her head and held back her long hair so that I could see her features. It could be said to be a bland and slightly disturbing female face because it looked like a woman's face with a mouth and nose like an ordinary person with eyes that were pitch black, including the sclera, which should have been white. It was like seeing the faces of ghosts in manga and anime.
It seems that I don't have to use my spiritual power when ordering something as simple as this. I also can't seem to touch Shiro because my hand goes right through her body when I try to hold her. The same thing happened when I told her to keep the soap bottle in the bathroom. She was only able to have the bottle after taking my spiritual power. But after she holds the bottle, I can tell her anything, like juggling the bottle or turning the bottle without using my spiritual abilities. It seems to happen when she gets to hold objects and when throwing, too— The stronger she throws, the greater the spiritual power required.
I can deduce that my spiritual power was taken away when Shiro caused an effect in the natural realm.
After that, I left the bathroom and saw Ruby, who came out of the room with a yawn in her mouth; she looked half-awake.
"Oh, you're awake?"
"Un— I don't feel any warmth from Oni-chan, so— I woke up."
Ruby replied as if it was a regular thing. She was still scratching her eyes and spoiledly reached out for my hand and wrapped her arms around me like it was normal for her to be beside me.
"Hehe— this is good."
"Geez, I'm just going for a moment, and I will eat dinner. Do you want to?"
"Un, I can smell mom's cooking. But I still need to charge my Onii-chan's energy." She said something embarrassing without much thought and hugged my hand even tighter. I could even feel that her nose was sniffing near my neck.
I couldn't help how degenerate my little sister was— But in the end, it was my fault, too, because I tolerated her behavior. In the end, she still keeps herself from going overboard. She immediately let go and sat quietly in her chair when we arrived at the dining room.
"Oh, You're up too? It's okay if this dinner is your brother's favorite."
"It's fine. I like it either way— and Onii-chan also needs to eat delicious food to cheer him up."
"Uhuhu— That's true, but it's your punishment too. Because it looks like someone let your brother go without saying anything to me. I will make you eat this—"
"Hyaaa— I don't like broccoli."
"This is good for you. I will make sure that you eat this healthy food for three days while your brother eats his favorite food."
"Hyaaa— this chicken breast also feels a bit bland! Also—also, it's not fair why I'm being punished while Onii-chan did not!"
"Well, unlike you, Aqua is not a picky eater. So his punishment will be different."
"Hau— Onii-chan, can I ask for your share?"
"Hm, you can get one—"
"Yes! I'll take a bite."
"Geez, Aqua, stop that— or she will never learn."
"It's fine. Ruby just got one bite, after all."
It felt a little unreal that I could easily enjoy dinner and see my family acting as usual after indirectly punishing Jimina to his demise. Especially when I was sure that Ai suspected I had something to do with what happened to Jimina, given my conversation with her. We had such a peaceful dinner before and after Ai gave us some fruit as dessert. She also seemed to have finished cleaning the dishes.
Before her eyes focused on me, she sat back in her chair and spoke to me.
"As per your request, I managed to get an appointment from Seiryu for you to meet the head of the Shinomiya family, Gan'an Shinomiya."
"Really, I'm grateful. Mom— You're the best." Of course, I was thrilled to hear the good news from Ai. I praised her so much since I was excited enough to meet with the head of the Shinomiya family in hopes of making a connection with Shinomiya.
"Hehe, of course. Your mother will always do what is best for her child. Even so, I deserve a gift, don't I?" Ai spoke with sparkling eyes.
"Well, I will do my best," I said yes without hearing her request for a gift. I'm pretty excited, after all.
"Okay, it's just that there's a bit of bad news. It sounds like something bad happened to Jimina, who is also the CEO of Jimina's production house, so there will be a slight delay in the takeover. It's just that I want to hear firsthand what happened from you—"
Oops, it looks like I'm in trouble.
