I got an overpowered skill, but still helpless. #Kazu

I used to have a friend who suffered from sleepwalking, although I didn't realize it at the time. I thought it was strange that he always brought me pizza whenever I stayed up late to study for exams. That was one of the weirdest things that happened to me in that dorm.

Kazu, out.

What a wonderful morning today is!

That's what I wanted to say. But I couldn't.

I should have felt refreshed and energized after waking up from a good sleep, but seeing a bloody massacre around me and having no clue how it happened was too much for me to handle. I just couldn't.

Blurrrghhh~ Excuse me for a second.

Blurrrghhh~ I felt like I had vomited everything I ate millennia ago.

There were also corpses of several creatures that I had never seen before in my life. It looked like a war zone here.

Human bodies were either torn apart or thrown around like rag dolls.

Limbs and organs were scattered everywhere, blurghhhhh~.

"There's a head, blurghhh~, oh crap, that's me!" I screamed as I recognized my own face among the carnage.

I looked around; the shirt, the pants, and that one had my underwear.

They were all me!!! What the hell?!

WAHHHHHHHHH!!!

Hikkk! I stumbled backward, crawling on the ground, trying to get away from this horror scene, but my legs turned to jelly. They didn't obey me. I had died many times in different ways, but I had never seen myself dead. That was me lying there, but I was also alive now.

What was going on?

My hand got caught in something as I struggled to crawl backwards.

When I turned around, I saw a half-ripped head staring at me with empty eyes.

WAHHHHHHHHHH!

I woke up from a deep sleep, feeling numb all over my body. However, it was not because I had screamed too loud or failed to comprehend the situation. It was because a monstrous wolf was gnawing at my feet, as big as an elephant and covered with scales like a dragon.

A freaking monster was eating me alive! WAHHHHH!

Ow, shit shit shit shit. It hurt so much.

No no no no, please. Stop it. Leave me alone.

The monstrous wolf sensed my movement and slowly bit my skull; I couldn't do anything; where was my hand? Had it been eaten too?

I heard my skull crack and then I blacked out.

Haaa!

I gasped as I woke up.

Heavy… something was pressing me down. I crawled back, barely lifting it. It was the monstrous wolf that had preyed on me before. Was it dead? Who? Who killed it? Did someone save me?

I slowly stood up and picked up a twig. I poked the monstrous wolf to make sure it was indeed dead. The monstrous wolf's whole mouth was ripped as if someone had sliced it but not neatly. It looked like a brutal and messy kill.

Then I remembered trying to test my resurrection in a small pool of lava. The lava had disappeared, and I had left a shallow dent in the ground. Did that mean that I killed the beast with my resurrection?

Maybe, when it was devouring my head and I died, the resurrection kicked in and everything around me that was blocking the restoration was ignored and simply vanished? Did I just kill the monstrous wolf with my death?

Except for my clothes being a bit dirty, I was the same as before. I even looked down to see if my junior was still there. It was intact and unharmed.

If I hadn't remembered what happened, I would think it was all a dream. But it was too real and vivid to be a dream.

I sat on a tree log, my eyes fixed on the huge dead wolf. I tried to calm myself by lowering my head.

Just breathe… breathe… I had been here before. I had been trapped in this strange place, but I had overcome many obstacles and dangers. This was nothing compared to what I had faced before… Breathe… Fuuuuuhhh~

I calm down a bit and look around, taking in the gruesome sight.

Besides my remains scattered around, the blood-soaked ground is littered with mutilated corpses of various creatures, including the monstrous wolf that killed me once. But some of them have fallen prey to something else, something with sharp teeth that left deep bite marks on their flesh.

The day is drawing to a close. The sun is about to sink below the horizon, but it offers no warmth or comfort to me.

I shiver as I feel a pair of cold eyes on me. I glance around and see a group of creatures closing in. They resemble giant lizards with horns and spikes on their backs. They glare at me with ravenous eyes and wicked grins, ready to pounce.

There is no escape for me. I won't be leaving this place without dying. They are wary of me, sensing something unnatural in this place.

I let out a bitter laugh. "Ha ha ha ha ha ha." What a feast they will have tonight. But I will be the main dish, not the guest. They will rip me apart and devour me alive, and then I will come back to life and suffer the same agony until they are satisfied or bored. How pathetic.

I stand in the middle of a heap of dead bodies, surrounded by predators, waiting for the inevitable. It would make a great picture if anyone could see it.

Picture? Wait, my phone!

I couldn't check what I had before because I was trapped, but now I can move. I quickly reach into my pocket and pull out my phone.

There it is, my phone. I have my phone in another world.

My phone is a small and slender device that doesn't have an LCD display like most phones. Instead, it casts a faint and ethereal screen that looks like a hologram, but it is not fully three-dimensional. This is the early phase of holographic technology, and only a few of these phones are made because they predict that perfect holographic technology will be ready next year. They will be able to create realistic and interactive holograms then. My phone is so slim and light that I barely feel it in my pocket. It is very convenient and easy to carry around.

Should I take a selfie? This is ridiculous.

Having this phone gives me many possibilities. For instance, I can use it as a navigation device. This one doesn't just use satellite GPS; it also has an offline radar navigation system that can ripple back radio frequency by 1,000 square kilometers, which is probably enough to map a small city. However, I have to be in a high place to use it effectively. Maybe I can find a hill nearby and see if there is any civilization.

There is also music. I have downloaded a lot of offline games. I even have an e-book saved, and even though it is full of novels and has nothing to do with engineering or anything else, this is more than enough for me. Maybe I can use them to entertain myself and distract myself from the horror and pain that await me every night. Maybe I can find some joy and comfort in the stories and songs that I love. Maybe I can learn something new or useful from them.

Maybe I can use this phone as a weapon or a tool to fight or survive in this place. Maybe I can use it as a communication device or a recorder to contact or document my situation. Maybe I can use it as a source of knowledge or inspiration to figure out what is going on and how to get out of here.

A wise keyboard warrior once said that with just a phone or computer you can destroy the intangible things. Relationships.

This makes me smile somehow. I forget for a while that after the sun goes down, I will either die or be eaten alive by those creatures. Maybe it is not so bad after all. Maybe there is still hope for me.

Let's take a souvenir of this epic moment. Maybe one day I will just laugh about this when I remember. Maybe one day I will look back at this picture and think that it is the most amazing and memorable adventure of my life. Maybe one day I will show this picture to someone who cares about me and tell them my story.

As I eagerly turn on the phone, something unexpected happens…

BOOOOOOMMMM!!!

I wonder when it all started to feel wrong. All I know is today, I felt wronged.

I'm standing in a massive crater with a radius of a few kilometers. I just don't know anymore.

WAHHHHHH! Fuck you!!!
