Todd sighed. “Drama king.” He tried the door handle, giving it a hearty jiggle. It wouldn’t budge. Sighing again, he let go of the handle and took a step back. “Give me some room, Heidi.”
“What are you—?” Heidi stopped and gave Nick a curious look when he took her elbow and moved her back.
“Trust me, you’ll want to give him room,” Nick said.
Todd took another step back. “This is gonna be real embarrassing if Benning’s room isn’t on the other side.” Lunging forward, he hit the door with a solid kick. It splintered away from the frame and popped open. He pushed against what was left of the door, shoved it open the rest of the way, and poked his head through. A few seconds later, he stepped into the adjoining room, waving at Nick and Heidi to follow.
