Who's Talking - A Standard Exchange

The counter was run-down, but the items on display were breathtaking. Antiques were arranged neatly in organized compartments. Next to the counter was a crate, marked "Mystery Pulls", containing assorted geodes.

A young man was sitting next to the till and playing a mobile game on his phone.

Two girls looking around the store, feeling a bit weird for browsing and not buying, walk up to the counter. One of them asks? "How much are these"

"Five Dollars Each"

"..."

They look at each other, and nod

"Okay we'll take two" as she hands the man a ten dollar bill.

"Ok."

The cashier puts the cash in the till and then runs around the counter.

He grabs two geodes haphazardly from the crate and plops them on the metal table by the counter. He grabs the hammer hanging from his cargo pants and says, "Do you wanna crack them open now, or take them home as is? Our store will buy the good ones at market rate, so might as well take your chances."

"Lets open them up here"

The geodes looked like nothing fancy. The taller girl seemed unenthused about this adventure, but the shorter one was beaming with excitement.

"Do you ever find anything worth value in these" The taller girl asked.

"Not me personally, but the last guy who had this job tried a few on a whim and found some rich purple amethyst with perfect white crystals, and banded agate and sold it for a premium."

"... he did this a few times and kept getting lucky, but he had a series of bad pulls and chose to leave this line of work because he was going home at the end of the day with a net gain of 0 dollars."

"... you girls don't have gambling issues, right?" he asked jokingly.

The small girl looked at the taller one shyly.

"Don't worry, I'll cut you off after one crate, I promise"

The girls awkwardly laughed. 😅

*Boooom!*

This is more so a test of how to space out dialog. single vs double spacing here looks significantly different from other published ones, so not sure how to figure out the styling without a pilot.

Findings:

1. Blank lines are ignored.

2. You can edit published work (I wasn't sure on this)

3. Just use returns when you switch people and it should be easy to read.

4. Emojis work, thats exciting.
