Don’t want to freak Coop out. I’ve been in an accident. What if I’m really messed up?
His next thought brought back the feeling of strangeness he’d had on the road as he walked along after he had determined he had been in an accident. But I don’t hurt. I’m not in pain. How can that be? The airbag? The seatbelt? Saved my life maybe but…I should be bruised? Something? But I feel fine.
He brushed aside these feelings and tried the door handle. For some reason he couldn’t get a hold on it. His hand seemed to slide around it. He tried knocking on the door, but his fist made no sound.
What the fuck?
He leaned forward to try with more force, leaning toward the door. The next thing he knew he was inside the cabin. He looked back at the door; it was shut behind him.
Hearing the sound of the television from the great room beyond, he made his way past the free standing fireplace with its roaring fire. Cooper was seated on the couch with his back to Derrick, staring intently at the screen.
