The Wondering Forest

It was 10:00 pm and the other girls where sleeping while me and Maya shut our eyes tight until we heard the door shut close. "Hey Maya, she's gone." I tapped her awake almost pushing her off the bed. "Oh wow, is it 12." Maya said, rubbing her eyes. "You actually went to bed." I asked her. She just nodded her head, getting off my bed to her bed side and got her phone and walked back to my bed. "Well, while we wait what do we do?" I asked her. "Well, what do you think?" She asked. I just shrugged and leaned at her side.

Once it was 11:55, we slipped on our coats since it was cold outside, put on our fluffy slippers and slowly opened the door, ensuring we don't make a noise and ran down the stone made stairs. "There you are guys, we better get going if we wanna get back early." Liam whisper shouted. "So this is where you went Liam." A voice said. I heard Liam groan. "Hey Adrien." Liam mumbled. "Where are you guys going heading to at this time of night? We are supposed to be asleep." Adrien explained. "Well, why are you awake?" Maya asked, folding her arms around her chest, glaring at the boy. "I followed my room mate to here." Adrien replied, doing the same action as Maya.

"We are going to The Wondering Forest." I blabbered out, quickly covering my mouth. Maya and Liam looked at me in disbelief. I slowly removed my hands from my lips and mouthed a 'sorry'. "The Wondering Forest? You mean the restricted forest? Can I come?" Adrien asked, his face suddenly clouded with sadness.

"Sure, I guess." I said. "I'm Natalie Smith and this is Maya Hamilton." I introduced us to Adrien. "I'm Adrien Thomson, I'm 15." He said. We proceeded to the school entrance and slowly opened the creaky wooden door to the cold and windy field. "We better get going then." Liam said. We ran through the field in the direction of the forest.

We stood in front of it, The Wondering Forest. The restricted sign glowed blood red, like a kind of warning sign. "I don't think this was a good idea after all." I mumbled. "Don't worry, I'll hold your hand." Maya smiled, taking hold of my hand and squeezing it tightly. I smiled back and turned back to the forest that now had shadows dancing around it. "Oh God, let's just get this over with." Liam grumbled.

We raised up the restricted banner and walked in. Once we set foot in it, we started feeling weird. "I have a bad feeling." Adrien gulped. We walked further in and soon I heard a terrifying shriek. "Was it just me that heard that?" I asked, terrified. Maya shook her head, her face looking like she saw a ghost. "Let's keep moving." Liam said calmly. We walked until we reached a path that had blood running like water.

"What the-" Adrien said. "I-Is that blood?" Maya asked, starting to tremble. "Woah, what's that?" Liam asked, pointing to something. We turned to his direction and gasped. "What is a mansion during in this forest?" Adrien asked. I just shrugged. "Let's go check it out." Maya exclaimed. We all nodded in agreement and tip-toed to the mysterious mansion. I started feeling like we where being watched. I stopped and turned around and gasped.

"Whose shadow is that?" I asked, pointing to the floating shadow. "T-That's not a shadow guys." Adrien said, his voice as high as a shriek. "RUN!" Liam yelled. We all ran in different direction, but for some reason, the shadow followed me, making me run faster than I ever ran. I ran till I saw the restricted banner. I quickly slid under it, gasping for air. The shadow crept back into the forest, behind the largest tree in sight. "Natalie, are you ok?" Liam asked, running to my side. Still gasping for air, I nodded a yes. "That was insane, what was that?" Maya heaved a sigh of relief, happy to have gotten out alive.

"Guys, I know what that is." Adrien mumbled. We turned around and met the boy with confused expressions on our face. "But, I'll tell you tomorrow. Meet me in the Library at break time tomorrow, I'll explain there." He said. Still confused and tired, we nodded and walked back to the school doors, going to bed quietly, not wanting to wake any unwanted people. What was Adrien hiding?
