79: Help is on the way

Ravan, despite being disordered, was a master strategist. So he knew that he had only one chance to escape this situation or else he would die.

Due to his senses such as eyesight and hearing temporarily not working due to the attacks he received he used his sense of touch to his advantage.

Since he didn't let go off Milim all this time he still had a card to play.

Using his sense of touch as a guide he swung his dagger towards Milim. His objective was to find Veldanava's exact location. And just when Veldanava used his hands to catch the dagger Ravan had completed his objective.

He swiftly pulled Veldanava towards him . This would increase his chances of mission success. And in a swift moment he released his dagger from Veldanava's grip and stabbed him right in the chest with his muscle memory.

Frankly this strategy has a low success rate but with Veldanava being severely weakened by the beating earlier made it possible for it to succeed.

And hearing the scream Ravan knew he had hit the jackpot. With his half opened eyes he saw that his dagger had only managed to stab Veldanava on the side.

' A pity but a welcome one ' Ravan thought. He still wanted to make Veldanava his ultimate pawn. And this may be an opportunity he was looking for. With his returning senses he kicked Veldanava completely ignoring the baby he was trying very hard to protect.

Despite being stabbed by a knife Veldanava used his body as a shield to protect Milim from getting hurt. And as a result he was flown towards the house and confidently collided with Lucia who was trying her best to help.

All of them collided with the house. Lucia and Veldanava groaned in pain as they were the ones who felt the brunt of the collision.

" Men apprehended them, " Ravan ordered as he looked at Veldanava with a cold smirk. He could feel that Veldanava now is at his weakest.

The men immediately did as they were told. They rushed towards Veldanava and his family.

Veldanava, seeing their approach, gritted his teeth in anger. He was too injured to fight back. And he needed to protect his family.

So he decided to do something reckless. He took the Staff Lucia was using as a walking stick. Then he used his last remaining skill, " Ultimate skill Creation Lord Ahura Mazdā ".

A barrier began to form around them with staff acting as the catalyst. What Veldanava did was re-create the multi dimensional barrier Covenant King Uriel had. And for this Lucia's staff which was bathed in both Rimuru's and Veldanava's aura is more suitable.

Despite being able to pull off such a good defensive technique it isn't without any cause.

" *Cough* " Veldanava coughed as he spit a mouthful of blood. His body, which is reduced to what a normal human possesses, is unable to endure the recoil of using a Ultimate Skill.

In fact if it wasn't for Rimuru teaching him many soul techniques that are used for healing ,his body might have already lost it. But despite all the shortcomings Veldanava felt that it was worth it.

"Velda are you alright, talk to me Velda " Lucia who was now carrying Milim in her embrace asked worriedly as she tried to talk to him. Despite having a condition worse than Veldanava she still worried about him.

"Cough I'm fine Lucia . I won't crumble just because of using my own skills. More importantly you need to heal yourself. You have lost too much blood. " Veldanava said as he gazed at Lucia's wound with a worried expression. Her clothes are dyed red due to how much blood she lost while coming here.

Lucia shook her head as she replied, " Don't worry about me. My wounds are slowly being healed by Raphael. "

While Lucia and Veldanava were assessing their situation Ravan who was outside the barrier was fuming in rage. He couldn't believe that those two had such a trump card hidden. And apart from that he is getting worried because this mission has taken too much time.

Previously they estimated that by the time the Empire had stopped the resistance their whole operation would be finished. But due to the actions of these two not only did the operation not finish , they even lost more than half of their elites with Silvan who was a commander included.

' We need to finish this fast ' Ravan thought with a grim expression. As much as he wanted to get Veldanava as his puppet he first needed to stay alive to do that. Attacking the royal family meant making emperor Rudra his enemies and no one wanted to face Rudra.

The only reason they even went as far as to kidnap Lucia and Veldanav is because they knew that Rudra wouldn't dare make a move if he realises that his sister is in their hands. That is their grantee for their whole plan.

" Men attack that barrier in formation A , we need to take that barrier down quickly before the emperor comes running here. So whatever you do , Don't dare to hold back if you all value your lives. " Ravan shouted as he decided to quickly find the barrier's weakness and finish this quickly.

As a master strategist his quick thinking is his main power. So with his orders the soldiers slowly found key points of the barrier they could use to break it down. They just needed precise and powerful attacks to completely break it down. Fortunately they are enough personal to do it.

Veldanava gloomily looked at his surroundings. Although he expected this outcome , but the enemy analysed his barrier too quickly. Even Though Veldanava created this barrier in a hurry it is still something he made by using Covenant kind Uriel as a base. So he thought that this barrier would hold on for another 5 hours at least. That would be more than enough time for Dino to come back.

But it seems fate is not on his side. Not only did Ravan analyse his barrier he even made a method to completely destroy it in a short amount of time. This level of intelligence is frankly at a level near Rudra. Had he not been an enemy Veldanava would be greatly impressed by him.

Just when Veldanava was at his wits end he felt a sudden familiar presence coming towards him at a fast speed. Recognising who it was he felt a little relieved. ' With her coming I only needed to buy enough time for us ' he thought as he pondered the things he could do.

After pondering a bit he said aloud, " Lucia can you cast a barrier with your remaining magic reserves. "

Lucia, although puzzled, answered, " Yes my magicules have regenerated enough to cast a barrier . But it won't be as effective as the one you casted. "

" It doesn't need to be as durable as this one. I need you to cast a simple barrier that would protect both you and Milim from my next move. Don't worry, help is one the way so we only need to buy enough time. "

Lucia nodded her head. Although she didn't know what Veldanava was planning to do, she didn't have the luxury to ask about it. And since he said help is coming he won't do something too reckless.

What Lucia at that time didn't realise was that when a dragon wanted to protect its family nothing is reckless.
