He Was Never Mine

Yong In walked towards the pavilion right after the last class ended. She saw Ji Mi already there waiting for her.

"Ji Mi, why did you want to meet me?" Ji Mi turned around and move closer to her.

"Sis, I have something I need your advice with. Are you willing to hear it?"

"Sure. Let's sit first." Both of them sat on the stairs.

"You must've heard about Sung Ki confessing to me, right?" Yong In nodded.

"Actually, I neither accepted him nor rejected him."

"You mean, you need a time to think about it?"

"You can say so."

"Then, do you like him?" Ji Mi nodded slowly.

"Then, what's holding you back?"

"I'm afraid. You know... He's famous among girls. There're many girls who like him and me... What's special about me? I..." Ji Mi was cut by Yong In who held both of her hand.

"Listen to me. Ignore everyone else. Just think about yourself and him. People had to accept it no matter what."

"Sis, I know that you're close with him like a siblings. But, you really didn't have any feelings for him?" Yong In let go of her hand.

"Not at all. He's just like a little brother to me. So, I hope everything is the best for him. To be honest, I was quite relieved when I know that the girl she told me is you."

"Why?"

"You're nice. I'm sure you can take care of him."

"Thanks sis for accepting me." Yong In smiled and looked at the sky. She sighed heavily.

"My boy has grown up now." She whispered to herself.

Jina: Hello, my bestie!

Yong In: How are you, Jina?

Jina: I'm doing good. But... I think you're the one who are in a bad condition right now.

Yong In: No, I'm doing okay.

Jina: My friend, no need to lie. I can see it all on your face. Spill it out.

Yong In: Sung Ki confessed to Ji Mi today.

Jina: Then, you're jealous?

Yong In: Nonsense! Why would I be jealous? I support them.

Jina: Then, why are you being so down?

Yong In: I'm just thinking that my precious little brother has grown up. He found his happiness. I can't describe that feeling with words.

Jina: Are you her mother? Why would you feel like that? *laugh hardly*

Yong In: I'm serious right now! Whatever, that's what I felt.

Jina: Alright, I'll be serious. Yong In, do you feel your heart hurt? You feel irritated when you see both of them together?

Yong In: Why are you asking me that?

Jina: Just want to know if you have fell in your little brother.

Yong In: *silence*

Jina: See? Just admit it! You like him.

Yong In: Go away! I just feel like I'm going to lose him since he's dating now. Of course he need to spend his time with his girlfriend instead of me, his sister who doesn't even have any blood relation with him.

Jina: Whatever it is you want it to be. I'm just reminding you. Stop lying to yourself. You know yourself better than anyone else. Think of it yourself. I need to go now. Talk to you later.

Yong In: Umm

Yong In put her phone on the stand beside her bed. She lost in thought for not know how long time it is but all she remember is waking up to another day. She got ready for school as usual. She decided to go to school earlier since she didn't want to go with Sung Ki. She herself doesn't know why but all she know is she didn't want to meet her little brother for the time being. As she arrived earlier than usual, she planned to do a little revision. Her phone rang and she looked at it. 'Sung Ki' . She ignored and continue doing what she was doing.

He was worried since this is the first time she didn't pick up his phone call.

"Why? She didn't pick up?" Sung Ki looked at the girl beside her and shook his head.

"Maybe she went to school already?"

"Impossible. She was always waiting for me." He decided to knock on the door. Ji Mi just stood behind him looking at his action.

"Sung Ki? You're not going to school yet?" The door opened by Yong In's mom.

"Not yet, aunty. I'm waiting for sister Yong In."

"She went to school earlier. I thought she was going with you."

"Oh, then I will find her at school. I need to go now. Bye, aunty."

"Take care!" Mrs. Kim shouted as he ran straight to the school. Ji Mi bowed to Mrs. Kim and ran following Sung Ki.

"Slow down!" Sung Ki ignored her. As they arrived at school, Sung Ki went straight to his sister's class instead of his class. Ji Mi just followed him quietly.

"Sis!" Sung Ki ran to his sister and Yong In was shocked.

"Why didn't you pick up my call? What are you doing in the early morning? Why didn't you wait for me?"

"One question at a time, can you? Did you just run here? Catch your breath first." Sung Ki inhaled and exhaled heavily.

"I'm just thinking of doing some revision so I came early and maybe I was too focused to hear my phone rang. Sorry."

"It's okay, sis. I'm relieved that you're okay."

"Good morning, sis." Ji Mi came inside the class after a while.

"Oh, Ji Mi. You're here too? You two..." Ji Mi nodded shyly. Yong In looked at Sung Ki and he scratched his back of neck.

"Congratulations. You two should go to class now. Look at the time now." Sung Ki looked at his wristwatch and gasped.

"Then, we'll get going first. See you, sis!" Yong In looked at both of them leaving and continued to do her work. People saw her concentrated on her revision but inside her heart only her know. After losing in a thought for quite a long time, she took out her phone and texted Sung Ki.

'Congratulations on your successful confession. You have a girlfriend now. Take care of her properly. She's a nice girl. Protect your relationship. You should spend time with her more. Don't worry about me. I'm fine by myself.'

Sent. Then, she turned off her phone.
