Chapter 27.1 : True Beginning

Several hours later,

Not far away from the mining site, in an underground tunnel, two men quickly ran through a tunnel.

One of the men was currently dressed in a civilian uniform, whilst the other was fully defended using heavy combat armor.

But even so, both of them quickly ran through the complicated tunnels, eventually passing through a door, causing the one dressed in combat armor to continue running whilst his comrade suddenly stopped next to the door and flipped a switch before continuing on.

Just a moment after that switch was flipped, explosions rocked the tunnels behind the two men, as everything behind the door frame quickly collapsed.

By then, the armed man, as well as the man who was dressed normally, allowing him to run faster, had arrived in front of a motorcycle, which they quickly boarded and started up.

A moment later, as an extremely loud series of explosions rocked the tunnels, one clearly not caused by the men, the two of them quickly drove the motorcycle into the distance, knowing a near worst case scenario had begun.

...

As he looked at the man dressed in a white suit, who had six police officers standing behind him, Andropov, who had just been disturbed, couldn't help but suddenly be on his guard.

'We should have no issues with the police, I've already dealt with them before, what happened?' thought Andropov, being weary of the fact that he was unfamiliar with the man in front of him.

But as Andropov approached the man, and before he could ask him any sort of question, the latter suddenly took out a badge from one of his pockets.

The moment he looked at that FIS (Federal Intelligence Service) badge in the hands of the man, Andropov mind instantly traveled to another place.

"Greetings Mr. Officer, what can I help you with?" asked Andropov, noticing a distinct lack of a name on the badge.

"The Service has heard some 'rumors' about an illegal mining operations happening in this place, I have been sent here to investigate," said the man, causing Andropov to stay silent for a brief moment.

"Very well Sir, do you need me to guide you through the construction site, or will you be able to investigate on your own?" asked Andropov, causing the man to appear somewhat surprised.

...

'Something's very wrong with this place,' thought the man as he walked behind this Mr. Andropov.

The first thing the officer noticed as he walked through the construction site was the clear lack of personnel.

The second thing that caught his attention was the man himself, this 'Mr. Andropov', who seemed to be deliberating wasting his time.

After a few moments of hesitation, the officer suddenly acted, as he brought out his gun and pointed it at Andropov.

"Mr. Andropov, you are under arrest, please do not resist," said the officer, causing the police officers behind him to quickly point their guns towards the two bodyguards around Andropov.

Just as the two bodyguards were about to take action, Andropov suddenly waved his hand, causing the two of them to back down.

"Very well, officer," said Andropov as he stretched out his hands, allowing the latter to quickly apprehend him.

Thanks to the fact that they weren't resisting, the police officers were quickly able to apprehend the two bodyguards as well.

...

As he looked at the gun that he had found in the pockets of this 'Mr Andropov', the officer couldn't help but slightly raise his eyebrow, causing Andropov to suddenly interrupt.

"The permit is in the left pocket of my suit," said a handcuffed Andropov as he watched one of the police officers walk away and seemingly call someone.

After the officer found the permit, Andropov's eyes suddenly widened, as he noticed a line of military vehicles moving towards the construction site from a distance.

It took around thirty seconds for the military convoy to reach the construction site, and by that time, had begun moving Andropov, who was currently sunk in his thoughts, towards the convoy.

Suddenly, though, the officer faintly frowned, noticing Andropov's ear moving in a weird way.

But before the officer could say anything, or alert the police officers behind him, seven loud bangs were suddenly heard.

Instantly the heads of the seven men around them were blown off, both Andropov and his two bodyguards begun running towards the volcano which was deeper in the construction site.

Before the military convoy, which had already spread out quite a bit, could take any action, hundreds of dozens of bullets suddenly flew towards them.

In under five seconds, over two hundreds bullets had been shot into the military convoy, from three different spots.

Under the fire of the high caliber rounds shot from stationary weaponry, the armored vehicles of the convoy, which did not have any tanks, stood no chance, and were shredded to pieces.

At the same time, all the returning shots of the convoy could was bounce against the stone wall from which the stationary weaponry had emerged.

Right now, none of the soldiers had any time to pay attention to the three men that had run away, as they were much more occupied surviving the onslaught that they were currently experiencing.

Thankfully though, in the end, not all the soldiers died, as by the time 70 percent of the convoy had been destroyed, a dozen large explosions suddenly resounded within the construction site, as rockets suddenly bombarded the three fixed weapons that were destroying the convoy.

Seeing this, Andropov, who had already retreated near a cave, knew that things were serious this time.

'We need to hold on for at least five minutes,' thought Andropov as he looked at the three attack helicopters flying towards the military base.

Although they did have some heavy weaponry inside the caves, Andropov was really not confident that they could hold on against the assault of a modern military for long.

But even so, after a brief moment, Andropov retreated within the caves of the volcano, ready to waste as much time as was possible.
