CHAPTER 58

The hunt was yet from over as far as Derek was concerned. He had killed his last remaining family for his revenge because of Peter killing Laura and he was about to kill Kate for killing his family. Some might say he was even lenient towards the Argent as he was going for only the perpetrator than the entire family.

For Tristan however it felt like another bout of headache come Monday. If Derek's hunt was successful then he couldn't imagine how terrible it would be like with Allison in school, both for him, Malia, Allison and Beacon Hills in general.

He looked at Malia as they got to their house, "It's going to be a shit storm after tonight in Beacon Hills."

Malia, like always, was less concerned about what was about to happen so she just shrugged. "It's not like it was bound to be different. Whether it is Peter or Derek, the results would have been the same unless they were killed first. It's a blood feud, Tristan. Nothing tends to be the same after that."

Tristan looked at Malia in a weird way as those words were not something he had expected her to say.

"What? I'm not stupid, you know." She said, a little offended at his unsaid jab at her intelligence.

Tristan only turned his head away from her as he struggled a little to regain his bearings. Unlike the last tune he drank from the Alpha, the heat in his blood was a little tamable but it was still hard to completely push aside.

"Here, have a drink." Seeing the small discomfort Tristan was going through, Malia offered her hand and Tristan graciously took it and drank her blood for a few seconds before stopping himself.

"It got a little harder to control but I think I can manage." He huffed out in relief as everything finally became stable in his head.

He could feel the changes in his body, very clearly at that, and he knew that something else was needed to break through the fragile film that was stopping his elevation to a higher level.

He would have to test out the new changes of his abilities and also the effects it would have on his hunger. No doubt his bloody appetite will experience an increase and he'll have to reign it in once again which will no doubt be a pain in the ass. 'Guess we'll be having deer for a long time.'

Malia looked at Tristan and asked the question that had been weighing on her mind. "What if Derek not only kills Kate, but her dad as well?"

Tristan stopped what he was doing and sighed. No matter how much he thought about it the matter was just too complicated for him to safely think about.

He will always choose the supernatural 9 out of 10 times if he was to ever make a decision and Allison's family opposed that very notion of his bias. No matter how much, or how little, he cared for her, it will always be hard, bordering on impossible to truly see things from her point of view.

If Derek kills her family then that was what he was owed, blood for blood.

He understood the notion of a vendetta more than she ever will so in his point of view as a bystander, Derek was doing nothing wrong.

But as a friend, he wouldn't feel too good seeing her grieving over her aunt, regardless of what she did. He knew just how close and bias a familial bond can be.

"I really don't know, Malia. It's not fair to her, nor is it to anyone." Tristan started. "I obviously can't stand with the Argents against Derek. I still wouldn't have against Peter. I also can't in good conscience participate in a vendetta that has nothing to do with me. Me and Peter's feud aside, none of this has anything to do with us."

He might have sounded cold but that was just how it was. His relationship with Allison aside, they were enemies with the Argents.

"This sucks major." Malia grumbled and slumped into the chair before cuddling up to Tristan's side. Even after they just killed an Alpha, their night time was going along the same routine they've grown accustomed to for years, not caring a bit for the storm they already started brewing in Beacon Hills.

While Tristan and Malia were having a good night's sleep, Derek was reveling in the prowess of his new status as an Alpha as he went on a search for Kate.

The feeling that he had grown accustomed to since the first time he shifted as a kid now felt different. He could now see the world in colors he had never been able to.

He felt stronger, faster, more whole than anything he's ever felt. Instinctively, he knew he was yet to be complete and he knew just what was missing – a pack.

His ascension as an Alpha was yet to be complete unless he forms a pack.

"But first comes the blood repayment."

He saw a group of Hunters as he started leaving the inner part of the forest, no doubt they were searching they were searching for the Alpha. He grinned as he saw them with his burning red eyes and wasted no time in stalking his prey.

He needed only one of them to tell him where to find Kate so that was what he did.

Perched atop a tree, he waited in the obscure shadows of the branches, eyes focused on the incoming Hunters who had their weapons drawn and were marching in an orderly formation.

They were six in total and not too spread out from each other but the brimming confidence Derek was feeling assured him that these Hunters would not be a problem for him and he was assured to act… and act he did.

With claws drawn out, he waited for them to pass under the tree on which he stood and the moment the last person fell under his position, he jumped down in one fell swoop and killed him.

Before the others could react to the surprise threat, Derek spun around and slash his claws through the stomach and rib cages of the two nearest to him, bringing them down with a numb, yet agonizing death.

Due to the close proximity he had with the Hunters because of the formation they used, Derek was able to predict the gun's line of sight and swiftly dodged the bullet that was fired at such close range with a bloodthirsty grin on his face.

He grabbed the gun and yanked it forward, breaking the balance of his shooter and disarming him of his weapon, before proceeding to slam the gun against the face of the second guy who wanted to take an aim at him.

He grabbed the double barreled muzzle aimed directly at him and squeezed it with enough force that the metal contorted, leaving the owner with a stunned face that turned horror as he realized his throat had been slashed.

Having dealt with the rest, he looked at the last standing man who was shaking like a leaf in the wind with palpable fear oozing from him.

"Kate Argent. Where is she?" He asked in a cold voice that sent waves of shivers down the spine of the lone standing man.

Faced with Derek's cold red eyes and his face that was obscured in darkness, fear gripped the man's throat that he ended up stuttering. "I-I-I..no i-idea."

Derek grabbed the man and drew him closer, finally letting the man see his face which prompted a gulp down his dry throat. "Last chance. Kate Argent, where is she?"

Faced with Derek's ultimatum, the man's brain was jolted awake with memories making him answer with a clear voice with a hint of a begging undertone. "The Hale house. Last she radioed in she said she was taking a squad to check if she can pick up a trail there."

A dead smile was plastered against Derek's face as he heard that. He couldn't help but recall fond memories of his past that only served to kill his heart even more.

Seeing Derek's lost look and thinking his life was spared, the man finally gathered up the courage to ask something that plagued his mind after seeing Derek with red eyes.

"T-the Alpha. W-w-what happened to him?"

SNAP.

Derek swiftly broke his neck without much change in any of their expressions and as if something just clicked together in place for the first time, his red eyes burned brighter with renewed intensity.

"I'm the Alpha now."

And with that he disappeared into the night, his goal known to everyone here… had they been alive.

A/N: I mean it's a no-brainer but that's wraps for season 1 Teen Wolf and I think the fact that Derek is supposed to be the Alpha at this point rather than Tristan is better. It's mostly because of Deucalion and the Alpha Pack's arrival that is drawing near. So while Tristan isn't yet a Primogenitor, it could be said that he's already halfway there.

I believe it'll make more sense that way since it's widely known that Deucalion only recruits special Alphas into his pack with Derek being the intended sacrificial lamb for Tristan's ascension.

Hopefully I can make it good, plot wise.
