[Welcome back adventures, I can't wait to get this campaign going again as today is the first look at school. As you have slept through the night go ahead and put yourself back at full hit points for a long rest.
Now we're going to go ahead and get right into this, we open up to a high school that has the usual teens about talking in groups and being all teen and stuff. We all know what that was like, we were all teenagers at one point in time.
At the front steps sit the loners and goths who are disdainful of everyone else, off to the side near the trees are the popular jocks and cheerleaders just the 'it' crowd. On the grass we're some cheerleaders who were doing a cheer causing many jocks to look at them with lust.
Finally we have Cupid who is walking up to the school after taking your father's truck which was left at home the night before. So tell us what is going on Cupid.]
(Alright well, I'm in my red shirt with a black long sleeve under it in my black loose fit jeans and white vans. My ash hair is under a Golf Top hat just a bit hanging down covering my left eye. I think at this moment I am rolling my eyes as I take in the school around me....)
Cupid was doing exactly that as the scene of the school was something that happened on a daily basis, it was something he never really took apart in either. He wasn't like most 'loners' who had one or two friends, nope Cupid was like ever sense in the word a true loner having no one as a friend or someone to speak with.
It wasn't that he didn't want them or hasn't tried before, but as the years passed he got shoved from group to group until eventually he was left on his own, when everyone realized he was different they didn't bother anymore. Now in high school it was even worse as people had formed groups and made connections, Cupid literally had no connections to anyone.
As he thought that he wasn't paying attention so he ended up bumping into someone.
[Cupid you bump into a girl who makes your heart just beat like crazy. All of a sudden your palms are sweaty and you selective mutism choose this moment to act, up but only because you are nervous as her boyfriend glares at you.
You know this girl, not personally but you can't walk around Beacon Hills High and not know who this is. The girl has light freckles lined across her face and her red ruby lips are arched into a confident smirk as you look into her shinning green eyes.
Long strawberry blonde hair flows in the wind and you notice that even with the wind blowing it is still perfection. The girl standing in front of you is none other then Lydia Martin.
How do you approach this?]
(Okay umm, wow super nervous obviously, but I say 'Hi' anyway to just see if I can get a conversation flowing.)
[Haha, okay go ahead and give me a charisma check, with disadvantage since you are a self known loner. And your mutism is not helping.]
(Damn, well okay here goes nothing....*Clack* *Clack* *Clack*...That will be a 9.)
Cupid opened his mouth to answer but instead of words his mouth just moved and his eyes widen, he was mortified as this happened and wanted to flee. The looks that were coming from Lydia and Jackson were varied, Jackson laughed outright as he saw that Cupid couldn't even talk.
While Lydia, well he couldn't place the look on her, face and until last night he would have put that off to him being socially awkward, but he was sure that this had more to do with the voices going off in his head. There were no checks or whatever though so it wasn't as if he could actually get something on her, he tried to use his own insight, but again he was a social idiot.
"Geez dude, did you become stupid because you actually touched a girl? How much of a virgin are you?" Jackson mocked.
Cupid could feel his cheeks flushing.
"Holy shit you are!!! We I hoped you enjoyed it cause that is as close as you will ever come to getting near a real girl again." Jackson mocked people around them laughing.
He did see that Danny and Lydia weren't laughing though, but that didn't make him any less embarrassed as he walked away from them.
[Go ahead Cupid and give me a Insight check, with disadvantage since you are embarrassed from the jocks at this moment.]
(Yeah, this whole scene was just bad...*Clack* *Clack* *Clack*....these dice are cursed I swear, it's a 10, even with my +2 on insight.)
[Well you look back at Lydia and....]
Cupid did look back real quickly and he could see that Lydia was giving him a look, but he couldn't place what it meant at all, there were still some people laughing but unlike them she still hadn't. She looked away after looking him over a little longer, Cupid sighed turning around and forgetting about it.
Lydia was someone he had been going to school with since they were in kindergarten, but even then she hadn't noticed him as she was the rich girl in class which made her popular right away. Lydia never had a downfall since her start of school, being smart and beautiful tended to help people like her.
Shaking the thoughts off he headed towards the school, the place was somewhere he did t want to be but the state mandated it, he cursed his dead father who enrolled him. If he had never been enrolled then he wouldn't need to suffer waking up so early in the morning but apparently that was something that couldn't be avoided no matter what he tried.
Walking down the halls he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary as he walked to his locker, no one seemed to be acting any different and he would knew if they were or not. Cupid had spent the last eleven years watching everyone so he could tell when someone was having troubles, then again that was before he started hearing the voices.
Now when someone had to roll to see if he could tell a difference he couldn't say with a hundred percent accuracy that he would notice anything different.
[Cupid, I'm going to need to rolls from you here, Stealth with advantage and a flat Insight check.]
(Hmm something is happening...*Clack* *Clack* *Clack*.... For Stealth I got a....)
At this point he was looking around himself to see what they were for, but seeing as everything seemed normal in the hallway he didn't know what he was looking for exactly, he could only wait for things to be explained.
(I got a 22 for Stealth, and a 3 Insight.)
[Mhm okay well you successfully hiding not being noticed while...]
"Dude there haven't been wolves in California in sixty years, I think maybe you are just going a little crazy." A voice said but of course he couldn't see who it was as the bodies seemed to hide whoever it was that was talking.
"I'm telling you last night out there, I was but by something. It got me and then I was almost ran over by someone before I finally made it home. When I woke this morning the bite was fully healed." Another voice harshly whispered.
(Ah man, can I do an investigation check to see if I can maybe find out who is talking?)
Cupid nodded along with the voice, he really wanted to know how this was since it seemed they went through the same thing that he did last night. The only thing he couldn't determine is if they had been turned or like him they had been healed, but he didn't think it was the latter.
[Sure go ahead. I will warn you now though, you need a 17 or higher to get this since the hallway is so crowded.]
(Dice Gods! Be with me in my hour of need please...*Clack* *Clack* *Clack*...fuck! 12.)
"Shit!" Cupid cursed along as the bodies seem to flow like water and even the conversation he was hearing seemed to blend into the voices drifting away. The god damn dice Gods were not with this guy.
A girl looked at him funny hearing him just curse out loud but he paid her no mind as he began to walk to his first class as he put his books away, there might have been a connection to his dad with that. It seemed that it didn't matter though as he couldn't even find out who had been talking, he felt as if he knew the voices but he was not one hundred percent sure.
Walking into first period he let that all wash away though, it was math first period and he needed to pass the test in this class to try out for first line, and math being his worst subject he wasn't sure how he would do. "Alright, I'm sure you all forgot but there is a test today. So everyone be quiet and put away you things besides a pencil, anyone caught cheating will be sent to the principal and you have until the end of class to finish." The teacher said.
Cupid got his copy of the test and let out a breath as he picked up his pencil.
[Alright go ahead and give me a flat Intelligence check would you cupid. Let's see if you pass this test or not.]
(Wait I don't get an advantage because I studied last night?)
[Nope, because you slept and everything that you found out last night your mind has been really occupied. So it is a flat Intelligence check.]
(Damn. Okay. *Clack* *Clack* *Clack*.... Hell Yeah! 21!)
Cupid smirked and looked at his paper, like something cleared in his head or maybe it was the roll but he knew everything on the paper, with ease he began to write down the answers as if it was second nature to him. Around him he could tell that people were struggling with it but he was doing it easily, something he had never done in math before, it had always been to hard for him.
For twenty minutes his hand flew across the pages before he got to the final question, which actually made him paused as the words on it were something he had never seen before. The letters and numbers looked foreign to him as he looked at it, not even the roll could solve it apparently.
He didn't hear the voices again so he knew this was all on him, he bit the end of his pencil as he thought it over, when he looked at the time and saw that ten minutes had passed he gave up. He knew that he wouldn't be getting this question, and since he would rather lay his head down for the rest of class he didn't try anymore.
After turning it in he sat back down and waited, thirty minutes later he heard the teacher again, "Alright class, for those who need this for a club or sport activity then don't worry as it won't count until I grade them. So enjoy that while it last."
Cupid let out a breath he was holding as he left out the class room after that announcement, apparently he was wrong and try outs for first line was today, he threw his focus into that as he headed to his next class.
++++
[We cut back to Cupid, who at this moment trots out on to the Beacon Hill Lacrosse field with his stick in hand full pads on and everything. On the field is the last seasons winning team with students around to watch it all, as you are the last one out the tryouts begin with you at the back of the line.
You wait as others go bored in line until finally it is your turn, in goal is Scott McCall who up until this point has not allowed anyone to score. Taking your stick you rush forward before lining up your shot arm slinged back.
Please make an opposed Athletics check here, I will tell you now Scott rolled a 19, so you need to beat that.]
(Shit that is high, what is this kid a top player or something...*Clack* *Clack* *Clack*...well with my -2 in Athletics I got a 15.)
[A 15 is not going to do it.]
Cupid was pissed but he hurled the ball without his consent and it sailed at a good speed, sadly for him it was like Scott was tracking it all the way as with quick reflexes the ball landed gently in his mesh. With a sigh he moved to leave, "Gallo! Give me one more shot!" The coach called out right as he went to move away.
Cupid was stunned but nodded and got back into line scooping the ball he felled back to shoot again....
(5.)
Like something otherworldly as he leaned back to take the shot the ball sailed into the air as he tripped over nothing, his stick fell from his hands as the guys around him began to laugh. Cupid grinded his teeth as he left the field in anger, he didn't want to stand there for the mockery of it all, what was the point of him passing that test now.
He also glared at Scott who use to be worse then him, the kid was a bench warmer like him with terrible hand eye coordination and Asthma but all of a sudden he was much better. Glaring he walked away and didn't look back, to make matters worse he caught Lydia and another girl in the stands watching it all.
Passing the bench he saw Stiles trying to hold in his laugh too, "What are you laughing at Stiles, at least I went out there and tried. Your just sitting here warming the bench, won't be long before Scott leaves you behind with his new top player status."
Stiles smile fell then as he looked out to the field to see that Scott was indeed getting pats on the back from everyone else, a flicker of worry crossed his features.
[Give me an Insight check as you walk away Cupid.]
(Hmm..*Clack* *Clack* *Clack*...20 not Nat.)
[Okay 20 not Nat, as you are making your way inside out the corner of your eyes you catch black. Looking over you see a man who doesn't look like he should be at a high school field watching everything that just happened between you and Scott.
While he gives you a quick glance all his attention is on Scott who is still being surrounded by the team. The expression he wears is one of a person who has found who they were looking for.
At the distance you stand you can see his expression clearly but you have no clue who this man is, but he is giving you vibes of sort of a bad guy like in the biker sort of way not bad bad.]
Cupid watched the man for a moment before walking away, him being interested in Scott was weird, but it really didn't matter to Cupid since it had nothing to do with him. He was sure the man was important because he needed an Insight check just to check it out but he honestly wasn't going to worry about the man, he was Scott's problem.
Going to the locker room he throws his things down and quickly changes, he takes a shower before everyone else can get back and then takes off. He had gotten a call not to long ago that he needed to go confirm the dead body was his father's, which he honestly was not ready to do yet.
There would be cops and with them came questions that he would need to answer, at this moment in time he wasn't really ready for that at all. This was going to suck.
