Ch.20 Stories are Lies.

I was lying on the roof, gazing at the pale moon. The sky was clear, and the stars shimmered in the darkness, but they all looked pale. I was smoking and thinking about what Kate had said to me. Selune, the goddess of the moon and its followers.

There is no doubt she was talking about us or, more specifically, someone like me. But when she talked about Selune, her heart didn't seem to believe it. I found it funny. How can someone believe in monsters and not believe in god? But more importantly. Why has mom been trying to keep this a secret from me?

As I lost in deep thoughts, I heard footsteps approaching. I took a whiff, and it was Allison. I didn't bother to look. "Here to lecture me again?"

She stopped beside me and laid down and said, "Nope." I looked at her and she looked a little bothered by the smoke but she still laid next to me and said, "Everyone has their problems and sure I don't like it, but I'll try to look past it, maybe someday you'll quit on your own." I chuckled and said, "That's very nice of you."

She then looked at me and said, "I am sorry for my mom. She can be a little invasive sometimes."

I chuckled and said, "It was okay. At least your aunt was fun."

She smiled and said, "She is the only one in the family that knows how to chill… everyone else is a little too much."

I looked at her and asked, "Even your grandpa?"

She sighed and said, "He is the worst offender. He is just… I don't know how to describe it. He is jaded. That's the best I can describe him."

I chuckled and said, "Jesus, you have it rough. I have heard of tiger parents, but this is a tiger family."

She chuckled and softly slapped my arm. She then said, "Thanks for coming today, if you weren't there. Dad would have eaten Scott alive… it's like he is out for him."

I chuckled and said, "Yeah, I can imagine. But it would be so fun to watch." She looked at me and I said, "What? It would be the same as a deer in headlights."

She chuckled and nodded and said, "Yeah, kinda true. He is cute."

The next day came, and I decided to finally ask her what is the deal was with the entire story. I know she will try to lie, but still I can get some truth out of it and if not; I am sure Florian might have written something about it in his journals.

I was coming back from the run and I was heading into the kitchen and mom was making breakfast. I sat at the table and she asked, "Do you want maple or honey?"

I said, "Honey."

I was looking at my mom and I asked, "Mom, what is this story about Selune and the lake?"

Her heart raced, but it quickly slowed down and she turned and smiled and put the pancakes down and said with a straight face, "It's just a folktale. Made up by people to scare children."

I poured honey on top and took a bite and said, "Okay, even so, what is it? And why are you so adamant that I don't learn about it?"

She sighed, and she sat down and said, "Lucius, they made the story up so that they could tarnish the founding families." I looked at her and she said, " The lake in the story is the property of Graham's and with the Graham's being the wealthiest and well named family.

People were obviously jealous of Graham's, so they concocted a story that said, Graham's and other founding families were devil worshipers that sacrifice humans to gain strange power, youth and all that crap and I didn't want you or any other children to learn about it cause, it's just a messed up story fabricated to tarnish the founding families."

She then looked at me and she looked down and said, "Maybe you were right, maybe we shouldn't have gone there."

I looked at her and I felt bad and I held her hands and I said, "Mom, that is just one family that is just as weird as us. That doesn't mean that everyone else is like that and I am sure we can fit in here. We just need to keep trying."

She sighed and nodded and hugged me, she then said, "Now, eat them fast or they'll get soggy."

I nodded and ate. I don't know about devil worshipping, but we have some powers, but the thing that concerned me a little more is that there could be more people like me out there.

After breakfast was done. I got a quick shower and changed clothes. I got in the car and drove to school.

I arrived at the school and I walked inside the school as I was walking to my locker and I found the love birds. I walked to my locker, and I was trying to be quick.

Scott then said, "Hey Finn."

I picked up my books and said, "Morning dude."

Allison smiled and said, "Morning."

I nodded and said, "Good morning, you guys continue. I am a little late for my class."

I walked away as quickly as possible. The first period today was biology. I was walking to the lab, and I met Erica on the way.

She was wearing a baby blue hoodie and jeans. She was trying to cover her face with the hood. I ran and caught up to her and said, "Good mornin' Erica.~"

She turned her face and saw me and she sighed and I said, "Now, is that anyway to greet someone?"

She sighed and said, "Morning."

I smiled and said, "Now, that's better." I asked her, "Are you feeling alright?"

She looked at me but quickly turned her face and said, "I just had a simple cold… it's nothing big." I heard her heart beat faster. She was lying.

I hummed and nodded and I asked, "So, are you better now?"

She nodded and said, "Yeah."

I asked her, "So what did you do yesterday?"

She looked at me and I tilted my head and she shook her head and said, "Nothing, just watched some movies… that's all."

I sighed and slumped my shoulders and said, "Ah, I wish I could take a day off. Even though I don't have practice right now, I have been slumped with work. It's exhausting."

She slightly chuckled, and I looked at her and I asked, "Why are you laughing?" We entered the class, and we sat next to each other.

She looked at me and said, "Yeah, like what?"

I shook my head and said, "Ah, first off, there is homework and assignments, second is this weird social group that I somehow became a part of, third I had to attend a dinner with my mom with our neighbours with was just exhausting and boring."I mumbled, "Not to mention poisonous."

She looked at me and asked, "What was that last part?"

I shook my head and said, "Doesn't matter. I am just a little overwhelmed with all this stuff."

She looked at me and smiled and said, "I don't know. Being part of something can be a little fun."

I sighed and said, "I guess."

The class started, and we paid attention to the class. As the class was about to end. I knew she would leave early, so I asked her, "Hey, Erica."

She looked at me and I said, "Want to grab lunch together?"

She looked at me and taught for a second and said, "Meet me at the parking, the other one the one with the animal attack."

I nodded and said, "Alright."

As soon as the bell rang, she left the class.

I arrived at the parking lot and I saw her sitting under a tree. She was sitting close to the bush where I found the guy. There was still some scent of blood around that area.

I walked up to the tree and sat beside her. I saw she had lasagna for lunch. She still didn't remove her hood. I ignored that, and I got my meatball sub out and we both ate.

She looked at me and asked me, "Why did you ask me to lunch?"

I had a bite in my mouth. I gulped it down and said, "Why you don't like it?"

She shook her head and said, "I didn't mean it like that. It's just you are surrounded by so many people. Why me?"

I shrugged my shoulders and said, "I don't know you seem interesting and besides, I kinda don't like them that much."

She looked at me and I put my hand on my heart and said, "Honestly, I don't. Well, I like some of 'em. Like Stiles, Danny and Allison. They are Alright."

She looked at me and said, "Why? What's wrong with Scott?"

I shook my head and said, "Nothing really, he is just a little too weird."

She looked at me and said, "Really?"

I looked at her and said, "You haven't talked to him and besides, he is with Allison, so they are always together and it kinda feels awkward to be around them."

She murmured, "I get that."

I hummed and said, "Yeah." She looked at me and I said, "And then there's Jackson, who is just a dick. He is always trying to pick fights with me, and I don't think I need to talk about Lydia."

She nodded and said, "Yeah, she is a plain bitch."

I looked at her and she looked at me and said, "What?"

I shook my head and said, "I am liking this new side of you, Erica. Honestly, you should talk more often. You are more fun like that."

She blushed and nibbled and said, "Shut up and eat your stupid sandwich."

Hey guys, I hope you liked the chapter and I am very much thankful that you guys waited patiently these few days have been quite the ride. But I am back and I can upload everyday now. I know it may disappoint some of you that the story was Selune wasn't unfolded yet. But it is kinda supposed to reveal slowly and by Thomas in the ancestral plane.

But that is not all. One more god is supposed to be revealed in the ancestral plane and we will learn more about why werewolves like Finn exist and what is their purpose. And why they are regarded in such high respect in the whole supernatural community. And the potential of having more werewolves like Finn.
