In this chapter, I will revisit trees. We know so little.

It should humble us in what we learn. In the north Pacific America aspen trees are numerous. Genetically identical plants. Trees born of sidelong runners.

It is the largest genetic super-colony to have photosynthesis.

That means those trees are at a terrible risk. A blight could run wild. A true genocide. That one successful plant has reduce diversity for itself. There are male and female Aspen trees. They could flower and make seeds.

That one male plant is over-running the others.

If a successful blight arrives, the Aspen tree super-colony will be a certain feast.

So, here might want to think about a reverse quarantine. Safeguarding Aspen tree diversity. While we still have time.
