The Chaos of Helgen

Looking around, Ulfric seemed to realize something.

"We need to get out of here now! If that dragon kills everything out there, it will come looking for us in here, so we need to move!" He then looked at Ralof, "You and the cat go first, buy us some time, it will be difficult to get these soldiers out of here unnoticed."

"Yes, Jarl Ulfric." Ralof said with determination in his eye as he looked up and started up the stairs, "Up through the tower. Let's go! This way, friend! Move!"

I didn't know why we were going up, but as Ralof was far more experienced in combat than myself, I decided I would trust him with this. Maybe he was thinking that we could distract the dragon if we had the high ground, or, higher ground as I guess you can't have the high ground against a flying enemy.

We rushed up the stairs, but as we made it to the halfway point, my body reacted on its own again as I grabbed Ralof and pulled him back. Just as I did that, the dragon burst its head through the wall.

"Inferno Sun!" I heard the dragon say as fire spewed out of its mouth and melted the stone wall on the opposite side of the room.

Then the dragon pulled its head out and flew off again to terrorize the other parts of the village.

"Thank you, my friend, I owe you one," Ralof said as we walked over to the hole in the wall.

"Don't worry about it. Hey, do you see that inn just there! Do you think we can make it if we jumped?" I asked while pointing at a large wooden inn that was on fire just below us.

"I don't know, I was never the agile type, I don't think I will make it. You should be able to though as a khajiit, and a nimble one at that. I will go back down and try to find a way through the rubble. After you get over there, try to help the civilians that are attacked, they are innocent and don't deserve to die here at the hand of that damned beast!" Ralof finished as he started back down the stairs.

"Right!" I said and jumped down, nimbly landing on a small pillar that had been exposed from the roof burning off. I jumped down into the second floor of the inn and then down again through a hole in the floor.

That damn dragon had already managed to cause this much destruction in less than five minutes, was there any other creature capable of something like that? I need to hurry, I would rather the dragon not kill everyone in this village. So I ran out of the building and crouched down, looking around.

Across from the inn, in the middle of the road, I saw a man laying on the ground with a huge open wound. He was the man from earlier, and next to him should be his kid. A few meters away from him was that soldier that was holding the list.

"Haming, you need to get over here now!" The soldier yelled at the kid, who sorrowfully left his father in the streets, "Thataboy. You're doing great!"

But then, the dragon landed right in front of them, preparing to breathe fire again.

"Torolf! Gods...everyone get back!" The soldier yelled as he grabbed the kid and took cover behind a ruined building.

"Fire Inferno Sun!" The dragon shouted, sending a massive blast of fire through the streets.

However before the fire reached the wounded man, I sprung forward with even more speed than earlier, nearly disappearing from the spot I was at a moment ago. I headbutt the man out of the way as my hands were still bound. I was able to get him out of the way of the fire, but I wasn't so lucky. Because now I could feel a searing pain spreading across my legs, torso, and tail. However this time I grit my teeth as much as I could to hold it in. This hurt a lot more than the cut, a lot more, however, I can't be let my mind be clouded by the pain yet.

The dragon didn't even acknowledge us, as if he was destroying the entire place off of instinct. It simply flew off in another direction again.

"T-Thank you." The man I saved said as he realized what happened.

"What was that? I have never seen someone move so fast in my life! Not even general Tullius! You are incredible!" The soldier said in amazement as he ran up to me. "But, never mind any of that now, we need to hurry and get out of here. Are you able to walk prisoner?"

"*Cough*Y-Yeah, I should be fine," I said as I stood up. My entire body was burning with pain, I could barely feel my legs as if they were cooked.

"Do any of you guys know a healing spell?" The kid asked as he ran over to his father with a terrified expression.

"I do." Said the tall, older Nord with a stone for an eye as he walked over and started casting a healing spell, covering the wounded man in a golden glow.

"Keep that up Gunnar, if that dragon comes back over here all of you need to hide. I'll be going now, I have to find General Tullius and join the defense. Are you coming prisoner?" The soldier finished and asked.

"Yeah, hold on." I said as I painfully started to follow him through the town. As we moved through the roads, the dragon flew down many times, killing people, burning them, smacking them around with his tail, picking a soldier up and dropping them from the sky. The beast was ruthless.

After a while we finally made it to the town's wall, however, the gate had been closed and was blocked by a huge boulder.

"Hadvar, into the keep, soldier, were leaving!" Tullius yelled from a tower after letting loose an arrow at the dragon.

"It's you and me, prisoner, stay close!" The soldier Hadvar said to me as we ran toward the keep.

However, we stop as I see Ralof again in front of the keep with a few other rebels with him. Hadvar stops to.

"Ralof! You damned traitor, out of my way!" Hadvar yelled and pointed his sword at Ralof.

"We're escaping, Hadvar! You're not stopping us this time." Ralof replied, raising his battle axe.

"This isn't the time! We need to escape from that giant, flying, fire-breathing, Dragon! You can argue with each other as much as you want when we are out of that things way!" I yelled at the two of them, promptly shutting them both up. They looked at me for a second in surprise, then they looked back at each other, scowled, and walked into the keep.

I followed while trying to stop my legs from limping as I couldn't feel them, all I could feel was the searing pain coming from them. However, when I looked down, I realized that my legs had already healed again, and the pain was just the aftermath. What's going on with my body?
