Chapter 7- Don't be capricious next time

"Rubber suit? You still have time to mumble nonsense? The Old Patriarch is about to strangle the Elder of the 3rd Branch because of you!"

[Warning: The player has less than 20 minutes to finish the task otherwise…]

Another lightning flashed followed by deafening sound and smoke.

Her throat bobbed.

"Hello? How do I get to the ancestral home?" She asked while massaging her temples. Determination, caution and panic mixed together in one question. That lightning was no joke.

"Brat…" The other line didn't manage to continue what he was saying when Dijiu snatched the communication artifact in her hands.

He immediately smashed it on the floor without giving her any time to react.

Crack

The debris scattered all over. Lilian widened her eyes.

[Warning: The player has less than 20 minutes to finish the task.] The system notification reminded her again of the impending doom.

Her eyes darkened several shades.

Dijiu trembled all over as he watched Suyan's foreboding look. "Suyan, my hand slipped. I'm sorry."

Thud-

Crash-

"Sorry my hand also slipped." Lilian with her curled fist stepped on Dijiu's chest.

Screams like a pig being butchered resounded from their room.

--

The Old Patriarch's Right hand waiting outside the gathering room stared at the artefact with irritation. "That brat! She cut the line!"

"Boss Xiu, the men you sent didn't find the Eldest Miss' whereabouts." One of his subordinates wearing a black tang suit rushed to his side to inform their failure. He was still panting while wiping off the sweat that accumulated on his forehead.

Old Xiu nearly spat blood as a result.

"Give me another communication stone!"

His subordinate fished out the communication device from his pocket and handed it to the man.

Old Xiu inserted a stream of energy to activate the spell carved on it. However, he couldn't connect to Suyan at all. If their communication stones were alright, then it must be Suyan's that had a problem.

"I'm going to pluck her feathers!" Old Xiu yelled and shoved the stone back to his subordinate.

"Uncle Xiu, I need your help!" Someone yelled from the room's closed doors.

Old Xiu opened the door and dashed inside to apprehend the old man whose eyes was blazing with anger.

--

[Warning: Fifteen minutes remaining!]

"I got it." Lilian said and held the orange fox's neck tighter. She casually glanced at the screen displaying the creature's stats. Five minutes had passed since she gave him a good beating. Surprisingly, the exercise didn't make her exhausted.

[NPC: Hu Dijiu

Specie: Desert Fox

Level: 2

Identity: Illegitimate Child of the First Branch's Master

Financial status: Poor

Assets: An Estimated 50,000 Energy Stones]

Amidst the flying swords, quills, flowers, and other sort of things gliding in the air, there was an orange fox gliding the sky with his white paws. Three tails were swinging in the air flashing golden hues of energies along. Dijiu became paler as the time goes by. He wanted to shake this woman off but the memory of being beaten by Suyan was fresh and vivid to the pint his bruised face tinged with pain whenever he heard a single word from her.

"Be faster!" Lilian pinched his neck.

The flashing reminder of the countdown followed them along with the thunderous clouds hovering a few meters above her head. She then threw the sunny and clear sky a glance and gnashed her teeth.

Dijiu exerted more energy to increase his speed.

Lilian was still not satisfied and pinched again.

"Suyan, I can't anymore. You should use your artififact." Dijiu felt that his body was being sucked dry after continuously using the restored energy.

'What artefact?'

"This wouldn't happen if you didn't smash that rock on the first place." There's also not a single transportation on this place. Tell me how I am supposed to find a way when that ominous cloud above was flashing its threat every second.

Dijiu didn't know what to reply. He also didn't know what made her shuddering all over. She would send constant stares overhead and would curse at it after.

As an MMORPG developer, just witnessing the world's stimulating setting would make her blood rushed with adrenaline. This is it! The world I only had in my mind. The world that I would constantly dreamed of.

So beautiful!

But the clouds above were ruining her moment of appreciating the sceneries.

Therefore she was caught in between fear and bliss.

After five more minutes of flying in inhuman pace.

Dijiu finally saw a glimpse of the Feng's Ancestral Home. He was relieved.

[Feng Clan's Ancestral Home]

Another screen popped informing Lilian of their arrival.

Dijiu couldn't feel his body anymore when they landed.

Thud-

He only saw Suyan's concerned face when his paws touched the threshold before he transformed back to his human self. His bared body painted Lilian's face red.

"Hey, are you alright? Is the sun too much for you?" Lilian asked while closing her eyes. Although she had complains towards the lack of warning against the explicit scene.

"Eldest Miss, quickly go inside." A subordinate of Old Xiu run off and ushered her inside the gates. He already saw her from miles away and was waiting for them to set foot.

"How about him?" She averted her eyes from Dijiu's naked form and pointed him with her finger instead.

"This one will have someone take care of him."

Lilian nodded and exhaled. Her guilt extinguished.

"Eldest Miss this way." The subordinate signalled one to carry Dijiu to the infirmary. Meanwhile, he began to walk towards the room the Elders and Old Patriarch was gathering.

Lilian followed him. It's just that the clouds didn't disappear and even inched itself closer over her head. She could hear the rumbling noises.

Badump-

This is so frustrating!

"Master the Eldest Miss arrived." The subordinate announced outside the door.

'Suyan arrived?'Old Patriarch Feng Hong stopped his bellowing and returned his composure. "Have her come in." He ordered giving the doors an expectant look.

Second Miss Feng Xiaohua glanced at the door with a frown. That Dijiu didn't manage to complete a simple task!

The twins behind spun their sights on the door and narrowed their eyes.

The Elders siding with the Second Eldest Miss looked at each other. Calculation flashed within each of them.

Meanwhile, those that were on the Old's patriarch side were finally relieved. 'She finally came.'

Screech-

The door opened and Lilian's sight was occupied by the numerous screens that have popped out in chorus. She couldn't see even a gap in between. The screens were providing information about people, their names, levels, status, and so on like the one beside Dijiu earlier.. She waved her hand in front hoping to make them vanish. But to her horror, the system added another screen.

[Side task: Be the Feng Clan's heir

Reward: Level two plume

Punishment: A bolt of tribulation lightning.]

"Eldest Miss, for such an important meeting, wearing such little clothes is disregarding the Elders and Old Patriarch's face." The leader of the fourth branch took the opportunity to spoke some ill words. He was always dissatisfied with the Old Man's favour towards this woman who knew nothing about managing a business and had always wasted the Clan's resources. Old Feng should consider the Xiahou's ability which was miles better than the Eldest Miss.

Lilian didn't know who spoke, but the screens were becoming annoying.

"Could you give me a moment of peace? Can you make them disappear?" Her words were directed at the system but in the ears of others, this was provoking them further.

"Eldest Miss! Do you want to commit murder!"

"Eldest Miss please mind your language."

"Old Patriarch please opened your eyes. The candidate you want to appoint as heir is thinking of genocide."

Old Patriarch just slammed the table to keep their mouth shut.

The Elders that had complained couldn't do anything else besides cursing in their heads.

At her request, the system relented and wiped out all the screens in front of her.

But as soon as her area of vision was restored, the unfamiliar faces sitting on a very long table registered her head.

She spent a few seconds to inspect the place and the people inside the room, their expressions, body languages and seating arrangements. There was a vacant seat near a young man in a blue tang suit. His striking blue eyes amidst the crowd of red lenses stared at her in question.

"I hope I'm not too late." Lilian said and walked towards the empty seat beside the silent young man.

"Suyan, don't be capricious next time." The Old patriarch massaged his head. Lilian's little clothes didn't bother him one bit.
