Finding The Target

After he studied the woman's profile, Yohan exited his room with such haste. He wanted to find her target. Jin Lei.

He walked around the mansion but failed to spot the woman's profile. He asked the entrance if ever the general's daughter passed by them.

"Sir, affirmative. Miss Jin passed by here around 9:00 o'clock." the guard reported to him.

"Thank you. Mind if I ask you which direction she headed?" Yohan asked the guard.

"She took the left route." the guard shortly replied.

He thanked the guard once again as he proceeded back to the mansion to see if he could use a vehicle to track the crazy woman down. He thought that she must have gone to the main city because that's the only road leading there.

True enough, Lei at this moment is in a club, sitting in a couch with a bottle in her hand.

Though the whole place is deserted, the disco lights were on and it kept dancing over the whole place. Except for the bartender who was making his rounds behind the bar counter, there was nobody else inside the place.

She kept downing the bottle until nothing was left.

"What's wrong Lei?" the bartender asked out of concern for her. The man knew her. She will only drink something of there's bothering her.

"I met someone but I know he's just making this like one of his missions." she said with melancholy in her voice. The man sighed.

"Is that man you mentioned, the one that you detained from the airport illegally?" the man asked her again. Lei nodded and another sigh came from the man while he busied himself polishing the glasses.

"Lei, there are things that can't be forced. I know you like him but try to communicate with him honestly. And besides, when will you erase that fake tattoo? That bleached hair?" the man asked Lei.

"I don't know. I came to like these." the man's mouth twitched as he looked at her. She was a beauty yet she often disguised herself with such nonsense.

"Honestly, I wanted to be with my true self but not until I find mother. I know she's alive and dad did not want me to ask more question so I have to find her on my own." Lei said with sadness.

The man looked at Lei with complicated emotions. He did not know whether he should tell her about her mother or not.

In the end, he chose not to say anything. He knew that Lei will sooner or later will find out the truth so, he chose to remain silent.

He continued his work behind the counter as he glances Lei on the corner of his eyes.

Lou Wei did not know what Lei is thinking, so he passed another bottle of soda to her.

"On the house." Lou Wei said and went back to his work.

Lei smiled at him without saying anything. She drank the soda like she downed some barrel of liquor.

Lou Wei shook his head upon seeing this. He thought that no one would believe that she's a general's daughter with her entire get up.

It's been a half day yet Yohan did not find any clue of Jin Lei's whereabouts. He wanted to get to know her and maybe her attitude is not that bad. He is not a judgmental being and one thing he can do is try to understand her. Maybe, he could change her with his methods, that's what he thought.

Alas! He's quite wrong to change her and he will taste the bitter medicine sooner than he expected.

Yohan combed the entire city through his previous connections but he still could not find the woman so he decided to stop for now. It seemed like Jin Lei has the habit to disappear like a ghost but who would believe something so ridiculous like that.

He might overlooked something on his files so he racked his brains out but nothing came. He's still clueless as where could Jin Lei have gone to.

As he was thinking of the places she might hang out, he received a phone call from his mother. He could not help but swear on his mind but still, he answered the call.

"Hello."

"Son. I heard you're back in Empire? Why did you not inform us?" the woman asked on the other end. Her tone was like she was wronged.

"I'm on assignment that's why..." he reasoned.

"Okay... Is that so? Return home when you have time. Your father wishes to see you." with that, the woman hung up the call leaving no room for Yohan to reason again.

It's seven in the evening and still, no signs of Jin Lei.
