THE CONTRACT

THE CONTRACT

Lily inhaled sharply, "please tell Jack that I won't ask for his permission every time I go to a damn event," Lily spoke to the lawyer.

"Yes, it can be adjustable but you have to give him a call if you will be going to an important event and when you are going to leave the city," the lawyer spoke monotonely.

"It's not like he is my mom," she said beneath her breath.

But Jack heard her anyway, "I don't know why I am still giving you this job. Maybe I should find someone else."

The lawyer pretended as if he didn't hear what Jack said, "Anything else you want to adjust?"

"I am good for now, I am fine with it as long as he pays me the money after this fucking charade is over," she sneered at Jack.

The lawyer rolled his eyes and sighed, "Mr Haden will pay you half of the money after you sign the contract and he will pay the other half when the deal is over."

"That is if I don't kill her and bury her body at the back of my house," Jack said under his breath.

Lily turned to look at Jack, narrowing her eyes; "were you saying something?"

Jack smirked, "I guess you like me too much for you to be so eager to hear me speak even when you pretend to hate me."

"In your dreams, Mr Haden," she said spitefully.

The lawyer quickly intervened before they began their word fight with each other, "Since you have agreed; can you sign here and here?" He spoke as he was directing her on what to do.

She did everything he asked her to do without complaining, "Since I am through with signing the contract; do you have my account details so you can wire the money?"

Jack smirked, "The ink has not fully settled and you are already asking for money, tsk; so greedy."

If Lily could burn Jack with her glare, Jack would have died by now, she clenched her hand, "then how are you going to wire the money to me?"

Jack pursed his lips, my accountant already has your details; "so no need to worry, you will see your money before the day runs out."

Lily was taken aback, her eyes narrowing in suspicion, "how did you get my account details?"

Jack returned her glare, narrowing his eyes and also staring straight into hers, "That is only for me to know and for you to receive your payments."

She scoffed, averting her gaze from his, it was useless trying to get him to tell her the truth, "Since everything is sorted out, I think I should take my leave now," Lily said.

"Wait before you go, there is an upcoming event that I would like you to come with me as my date," he paused but before he could continue, Lily picked up her bag and left the office, ignoring Jack as he called behind her.

"What a stubborn woman! why did our paths cross? how the hell did I choose her?" Jack spoke to himself.

"These two," the lawyer shook his head.

Jack turned to his lawyer and they started talking about other deals.

Jack kept to his words, she saw the money that evening.
