Not long after Renard succumbed to the embrace of sleep, he was abruptly awakened by the acrid scent of smoke. His eyes shot open, greeted by the eerie glow of flickering flames dancing across the walls of his bedroom. Panic surged through him as he realized his house was on fire.
With a quick gasp, Renard leaped out of bed, the heat intensifying with each passing second. Smoke billowed thickly, obscuring his vision as he fumbled to find his bearings. The crackling of burning wood and the roar of the flames outside echoed in his ears.
