EMBARRASSED LAWYER

EMBARRASSED LAWYER

Lily walked majestically into Jack's office, her heels elegantly clicking on the floor while Jack was already waiting for her with his lawyer.

Seated on his chair, Jack frowned at her as she entered the room, "You are late; you told me you will be here by 10:30 but look at the time!" He instinctively showed her the watch in his hands, "This is 11:30."

"Oh please!" She waved her hands dismissively, "I have a job in case you don't know, I have to go through the process of taking an excuse, and that my dear, takes a lot of time."

Jack gnashed his teeth, he was trying to hold himself from lashing at her, and he sighed.

The lawyer sensing Jack's angered mood, stood up and said to Lily, "I believe we have not been properly introduced."

"I believe we have not been introduced at all," Lily said, hinting to Jack with a pasted smile on her face, she wanted Jack to introduce the both of them.

Jack ignored the both of them, his eyes focused on the papers before him.

The lawyer was feeling awkward, he was confused, and he did not know whether to continue with the introduction or go back to his seat.

Seeing the look of confusion on the lawyer's face, she decided to break the silence and stretched out her hand, "My name is Lily Evans and I believe you are the lawyer who will guide us through the signing of the contract."

The Lawyer smiled with relief visibly seen on his face, "Yes of course! My name is Anthony Heifer and I am Mr Haden's lawyer."

Lily was confused with the name of the lawyer, she thought she heard wrong and wanted to be sure, "Heifer! As in a female cow," she blurted out unconsciously.

Jack burst into laughter, Lily and Anthony turned to look at him but he ignored them and continued laughing.

His lawyer blushed fiercely, he cleared his throat, "I know my name is a bit weird but that is my name and it has been my family name for generations," he said proudly, not letting Jack's laugh diminish the value of his family name.

Lily became mellowed, feeling remorseful, "I didn't mean to make fun of your name. I thought I heard wrong that was why I asked."

"Don't feel bad, you are not the first. Shall we begin?" He motioned to the other empty seat in the room.

She noticed from his stiff shoulders, that the lawyer was not happy even though he tried to hide it by smiling. Lily looked at Jack, she wanted to strangle him; he made it look as if she purposely insulted the lawyer.

Jack looked at her and winked, she rolled her eyes.

As if laughing was not enough, he added more salt to the injury, Jack said, "Don't be angry Anthony, Lily truly knows her animals."

The lawyer's cheeks darkened with retained embarrassment, it was evident to the people in the room that he was embarrassed.

Lily wanted to squeeze Jack's neck, she inhaled, God please help, I don't want to commit murder. She prayed in her heart.
