Dangerous Liaison

"Got it." Dwayne laughed and reached out his hand to me.

I lost my balance and fell into the bathtub.

What welcomed me was not the hard bottom of the tub, but a sense of continuous weightlessness.

"Do you know how to swim?" In the darkness, Dwayne put his arms around my waist, and I subconsciously held his shoulders tightly.

"I don't know how to. Why..." Before I could manage to squeeze the words out through my chattering teeth, Dwayne tilted his head and covered my mouth.

The water surface exploded behind us, splashing in all directions.

Dwayne hugged me and we sunk into the water.

The surroundings were muffled and the world seemed to have quietened down. The close hug felt like we were braving our death together.

The intense feeling of suffocation made my scalp tighten, and then I felt a sharp pain in my head.

The pain quickly spread to my limbs and bones. This feeling of drowning was too familiar...
