Low is learning

It's been couple of months now. Lex had gone to do his research. Aktor has wondered somewhere, thankfully he has visited his kid somedays. Siel'Kel does what Siel'Kel always does. And me and Low have been wondering around the forest of Ehen.

Relse has been mostly meeting with his "kids". He gave Kiat quite a beating for the becoming a god thing. What I heard, the meetings have been quite awkward for all parties involved. Mostly because they don't know what to talk about. But I know that they all still treasure those moments deeply now that they can finally talk again. Oh, and Relse and Aktor had a match and Aktor lost. What I heard from Relse afterwards, was that if he wouldn't have taken Aktor seriously, he would have lost the match in a blink of an eye. But since he took Aktor seriously from the get go, there was no competition.

Low is a bit tough to handle, but once I got used to her following my words to the letter, we got along just fine. She apparently doesn't need to eat or sleep, but does so anyways. Probably to blend in with us who need to do so.

Today we are going to visit Amber, Aktor's kid, so that Low can learn how to communicate better than she does. Who knows, perhaps they can become friends. We aranged the visit with Crimson Ruby beforehand, so that it doesn't cause any problems there.

With Lex's teleport we were there in a flash and we had to go through the gate first to enter the city. For some reason Lex decided to not just teleport us to the palace. With the guards we had some problems identifying ourselfs. Well, I was fine, since I've been here before, but with Low there was a small problem. The guard asked her.

- Then you young lady, what is your name, race and occupation?

- My name is Low. I am technicaly homunculus made to look like a demon and human hybrid. My occupation is... let's see... a daughter of Kiat?

- You are... wait... that doesn't make any sense. What are you realy?

- I'm Low, homunculus and a daughter of Kiat.

- Again, you don't make any sense. Stop playing games with us.

- We are playing a game? What kind?

- Look... Mister, can you explain a bit.

I answer.

- She's... speaking the truth.

- Hah... so you mean that this little brat is a child of a demon prince?

- Yes.

Low says to the guard.

- I'm not a child, I have been made to be an adult woman.

- Yet you look like a teen with only pretty face to tell others you're a woman. And if you are a homunculus, you can't be more than 3 years old. And how can homunculus call herself a daughter of a demon prince?

- I'm actually just 3 months, 29 days, 7 hours, 42 minutes and 24 seconds old. My father gave the materials to my creator so he is qualified to be called my father, since the definition of father aplies to him. He gave his "seeds" to my creator, or "mother" so I'm his daughter.

- Right. How am I going to report this?

- Just write it down and give it to your supervisor.

- I know how to do my job! I just... This is too unusual.

- The likelihood of meeting others like me are close to zero. At the moment.

- So there is a possibility... You know what, never mind all this. I just write a demon girl from a noble house.

- That is not correct, I'm...

I take Low and we just move forward. During which, she starts to speak to me.

- But I'm not a demon or a noble. Those documents will be false.

- It is just easier for all of us to just pretend that's what you are. They are busy as it is already.

- But what if I'm asked again and they think that I'm here illegaly?

- Just say that you're what is in those documents. Let's move.

- Understood. Well, I won.

- What did you win?

- Against the guard person.

We go to the palace and we're greeted by more guards. Luckily they've been expectin us, so we went inside without an issue. There we were quided to Amber's room, which was filled with books. Low was quite interested in them, since during these last three months, I've been teaching her how to read and write. Amber, on the other hand, was interested about Low's situation. She kept silent about it though and focused on talking about books.

When the girls were talking, I went to look for job postings on the travelers guild. I found a posting of a troublesome earth dragon roaming around, so I took it and went to work.

After I was done with the work, I went back to the palace, but I found out that man and a Amber was sighted jumping from roof to roof. My immediate thought was that Low and Amber were having fun, but just in case, I went to look at the situation.

With a bit of effort, I catched them and told them that people thought that Amber was kidnaped. Amber looked at me surprised and paniced. Then she said.

- Oh sorry, I didn't thought about that far. Let's get back to the palace Low and explain the situation to mother.

- But why? I'm not kidnaping her so what the issue?

- The point is that people think that you kidnaped me. They might come to arrest you when they find you.

- No they wont. I have appraised all of the guards that I've seen so far and none of them are even close to me in strength.

- That's not the issue! If we continue to do this, it will cause trouble for the guards and mother. We have to go back and appologise.

- But we did nothing illegal.

- That's not the...

I say.

- The thing is Low, that we must go there since people think you are doing something illegal and you can be accused of that. As such, we must go and clear the misunderstanding. Understood?

- Understood.

Then we go back to the palace and get an earful from Crimson Ruby and me and Low are told to go elsewhere for the night. I plead for letting Low stay the night with Amber, so that she can learn to sleep somewhere where I'm not present. That and it is great way to bond with each other. Crimson Ruby looked at me with annoyed look and finally gave in and said.

- Fine, just make sure that they don't cause any more trouble.

I then told Low that to follow Ambers orders for the night and stay sleep. She just said.

- Understood.

Then I went to an inn and slept the night with no issue. I had some adjusting to do, since for the last three months, Low has always slept next to me. Or atleast in the same room. Next morning I get some breakfast and then head to the palace. I saw Low and Amber, so I asked how the night went. Low and Amber then said.

- Good.

- It was fine, but Low was fidgeting all night and almost didn't get any sleep.

- Untrue.

- Yes, I could hear all night you twisting and turning in the bed.

- I'm just a restless sleeper.

- Oh realy?

- That is correct.

- Then why does Nor look surprised?

- No idea.

- Is there a chance that you are embarrassed to tell him that you had trouble sleeping without him.

- That's... untrue.

Me and Amber look at her with the understanding of what is going on. Then I say.

- Have you two eaten any breakfast?

- We were just about to head there. Want to join?

- No thanks, I already ate mine.

- Is that so. Then let's go Low.

Low nods and they head off. I then wait on the garden a bit untill I see Aktor walking around. I said hi and he came sitting right next to me.

- How's it been with Low?

- She and Amber have been having fun for what I heard.

- That's great.

- How is your relationships going here.

- I manage.

- Have you made Crimson Ruby pregnant by any chance?

- By the gods I hope not.

- So there is the possibility.

- That's the main reason why I don't spend nights in here that often.

- I see. Then have you seen your pregnant wife?

- Oh yeah, I'm technically married now. Yes I've seen her. Her belly has started to grow a bit.

- And then you have another bundle of joy in this world.

- Get off my back. I'm surprised you and Low haven't done it yet.

- What do you mean?

- She is totaly into you. You even sleep together most of the nights.

- I don't think that she even understands what her own feelings are yet. Let alone if she loves me.

- Then I should lend my words of wisdom to her and then let's see how long it takes.

- Don't you dare.

- You scared?

- No, I just think she needs more time to understand her own feelings and if she then chooses that path, then we will see how things go.

- Oh yeah, you have those other two on your list.

- What other two? You mean Stella and Mary?

- Yes, those ones. You should try to get to know them more, or you might lose.

- What are you...? Why are you obsessed about this stuff anyways?

- Just think that you should gain experience. Hell, if you are not interested in women, I will sleep with you if that's what you want.

- I pass on that.

- Is that so? Well, just know, my arms are always open.

- Whatever. Why are you here anyways?

- Just was in the area. There was a cave where bunch of golems were gathered.

- So they are even in the desert.

- Why wouldn't they be. Beneath the sands there ought to be something. They are becoming more and more troublesome.

- Shouldn't we figure out soon where do they come from?

- We should, but no one has any idea how to find an answer. Our only option is to wait and see.

- Has even Lex done anything about it?

- I heard he is interested on the matter, but has not found anything conclusive.

- I see.

- Don't give me that gloomy face. Just focus on your relationships and find somewhere to setle.

- Like I can do that with all the things going on.

- Just promise me one thing.

- Why are you serious all of a sudden?

- Don't be like us. Me, Lex and Relse I mean.

- What do you mean.

- We are all absent fathers in a sense. So if you ever get yourself a kid, then make sure to cherish it.

- Of course I will do that, but where does that come from?

- As long as you understand.

He must have regrets about his parenting.

- Now then, let's go, ladies are waiting.

- Sure.

We stand up and go find the "ladies". We meet them and Amber starts to ask about Aktor's adventures again. Since Low has become friends with her, she starts to also aska nout his adventures. So they spend half a day doing that while I went hunting.

When I returned, Low seemed quite satisfied and asked me.

- Can we go see grandfather?

- Sure, if he is around the soultree. But why so sudden?

- I realized that I haven't fought him yet so I want to test my skills with him.

- Why don't you try fighting with Aktor?

- He lost to grandfather so I choose not to.

- You think you can take Relse?

- I'm unsure. That is why I want to fight.

- Sure, let's go.

We say our goodbyes to the rest and then we go to the soultree. There we see Relse speaking with Siel'Kel about something. We go and say hi.

- How is the little Low?

- I'm fine. Let's battle.

- Wow, what for?

- Want to know who is strongest.

- Then fight Siel'Kel.

- Is Siel'Kel stronger than you?

- Well, yes and no.

- I don't understand. Please elaborate.

- Well, Siel'Kel can't destroy things the way I do, but they can do many other things that I can't.

- So which is stronger?

- I still say that I have more firepower.

- Then I will fight you.

- Well, if we are going to fight, then I will refrain on using my destructive powers and just use my fists like you.

- But then you don't wont to fight with your full strenght.

- I think my fists are plenty on handling you.

Low frowns and says.

- If you have a death wish, then what am I to take it away from you.

- Don't bother with my death. I've seen plenty in my lifetime. Siel'Kel, make an arena for us.

Siel'Kel nods and proceeds to make bouth of them unconsious, just like with when Relse and Aktor fought. And come to think of it, the same thing when Aktor went all out with me. We see what's happening on the other side from some monitor Siel'Kel puts up. I see bouth of them getting ready for the mark. Siel'Kel tells them to go and they go.

Immediately we saw their fist colliding with each other and a massive shockwave was created. Then they kept punching each other in amasing speeds. What I could tell, Relse was more defensive than Low, but his attacks had much more weight than hers. I think Relse just has more experience in fistfighting another humanoid being and actually put out some tacticks unlike Low who was just using brute force.

The battle lasted about 8 minutes and bouth of them looked like they still can go. The last attack was when Relse managed to uppercut Lows head out of her neck and she was decapitated. While thanks to her healing powers, she could regain her composure in moments notice, we decided to end the match there. She was bit dicapointed about that and said she can continue. We thought for a moment and let Relse decide and he said.

- Let the pipsqueak continue her rampage. I can dance with her for a while.

So we let them battle it out for as long as they wanted. It ended up taking 7 hours in total when they decided to call it a day. In the end, Low admited she had lot more growing to do in the art of fists.

It was already night and we decided to go to sleep. As always, Low came to my room to sleep and the day ended.

The next day Lex came to visit and brought a big book for Low. I didn't get to see what the book was about, but when Low saw it, she was immediately interested on reading it's contents.

While Low was reading, Lex told me that he and Relse have something to talk about. I followed and saw Relse standing on the hill. Once we got closer he said.

Relse: How was your sleep?

Nor: It was okay.

Relse: And Low is now...

Lex: She is reading a book I gave her.

Relse: Good, now Nor. What do you think about Low?

Nor: What do I think about her? Well... she's a bit tough to handle sometimes, but she means no harm in most of the time.

Relse: I see, well what do you say if you become her official guardian.

Nor: What? What about Kiat? And she isn't a child, she is...

Relse: We don't mean you to become her parent. We just need you to keep a close eye on her.

Nor: What do you mean?

Lex: Her existance is something that we original powers, well... see as hindrance.

Relse: Don't get us wrong, we care for her. We really do. It's just what she is made from.

Nor: What does it matter what she's made from?

Relse: She is something that my children came up with. Which is a wonderfull thing. It's just that the material used is something that can't be ignored. She has a fragment of destruction as her main material, blood of a god as her conduit to origin and philosopher's stone as a heart to keep the blood of a god flowing on her vanes. She is, for the lack of a better word, god of immortality.

Nor: God of immortality? Isn't gods supposed to exist outside Norbul? And what are you saying she has philosopher's stone as a heart?

Relse: We found out, after we asked Carbon about it. Apparently Kiat found one of the stones in possession of some mortal and tricked her into handing it to him. And you are correct about the gods, but she is a rulebreaker. The way she was made makes her able to exist as one inside Norbul. She basically has fargments of mine and Lex's powers when we were younger. And the blood of a god keeps the power that is in origin coming to her forever.

Lex: She can't undo it and neither can anyone else. Her potential is near limitless if she chooses to grow. As a god of immortality, she can exist for the rest of time and cannot be killed. Even gods can be killed, if you know how. And when she learns to use her powers, she can also keep people alive as long as she wishes. It is even greater power than Soul had.

Nor: I see. Then what do you need me for.

Lex: For better or worse, the fragment of Soul that is inside you, will stop you from ageing but does not make you unkillable. We need you to keep an eye on Low for all of your time that you exist here.

Nor: Why are you making me do this? Why can't you do this?

Relse: We will, but in case of us disappearing, we need someone who can carry out this task in our stead.

Nor: I will do it, but why do you need to keep an eye on her in the first place.

Lex: That is something you don't need to know.

Relse: Wait brother. I think he should know.

Lex: I don't see it necessary to do so.

Relse: It was my fault, so I have the right to decide.

Lex: If you are prepared for the consequences it might bring.

Relse: I am. His presence is growing anyways, so might be better to tell him now. You know this.

Lex: If that is what you wish.

Relse looks at me with a more serrious face than before.

Relse: You know that I went to lengths to bring Soul back.

Nor: Yes, I remember.

Relse: Well, one of my attempts was to create another original power. But since I didn't have the power like Creation, I had no real way of doing it. Then I decided to harvest what little power Soul still had and fuze it with the original power's of Destruction and Creation that I manage to snach from my brother. What I made was something that shouldn't exist, but it did. Something that is and isn't. I created an original power of illusion. Since she existed, she could do things in the world. And since he didn't exist, he could not be erased nor captured.

Nor: Something that can do things and can't be controlled is terrifying consept.

Relse: Exactly. Even this day, her twisted mind continues to harm people around the world. We tried to seal his power, but she still can do things in the world.

Nor: So is it man or a woman?

Relse: It's not just those, it's all that exist. Man, woman, both, neither or anything else that is. And yet he isn't.

Nor: What has he done then that required you all to seal his power?

Relse: To put it into words, he mad, just mad. She does what she pleases and cares not for the consequences. He played tricks on people even more than Kiat did when he was in full power. They aren't any small tricks either. They are to the point that he has made worth an entire continent full of people mad with his powers. Constant noises, seeing things that aren't there, phantom pains smells, tastes, he can make an illusion of anything that you can immagine. He even has trasfered his consciousness to other people multiple times. There is no real way of stoping her.

Nor: And he just roams around the world, making innocent people mad and we can't do anything about it?

Lex: That's how it's been for long time. He even is called a mad god in some places.

Nor: What is he called then?

Lex: He has no real name, but some places call him the mad god Delirus. We just call him Delir.

Nor: So you want me to make sure that Low doesn't end up Like Delir.

Relse: That is not entirely true. Delir was strainght up born wrong with the power to destroy the world. The reason she doesn't is because he sees it as more entertaining to make people populate first and then break their minds. Because that way you can always break the new generations minds later and continue to play with mortals. So if there isn't sane people who's minds she can break, then the rest of eternity will be a bore. His twisted way of thinking will always make sure that the world isn't destroyed. Even though she might cause a wars.

Lex: Low on the other hand, is a blank slate. She has the same potential of destroying the world but what she needs is a reason not to do so. In her immortal life, she will face hardships and if she decides from those hardships that the world deserves to be destroyed, the only way of stoping her is to seal her somewhere for the rest of eternity. Unlike Delir, she can be imprisoned in some place to never leave again, but she has her authority of never dying, so you can never take out the threat. We don't wish to resort to this measure, so we need to make sure that she wont turn against the world. She is innocent, so we wish that she can enjoy her immortal life the same way we original powers have done. To make sure she will have a purpose so she will see the beaty of this world.

Nor: I will make sure I wont let her become like that.

Lex and Relse: Good.

Lex: Now make sure you stay alive to keep it that way.

Nor: I will do my best. Now, about that book.

Lex: What about it?

Nor: What was it about that got her so exited?

Lex: Oh, it was just myths and legends about demon princes. She is curious soul so I thought that she would like it.

Nor: Well you sure did manage that.

Then Lex left and Relse went to Verm's realm to connect with her. Don't know how well that will go. Low spend rest of the day reading the book Lex gave her. It apparently had language that wasn't in what she used to, so it took her a while to read the whole book. She asked another book from me, which I then asked Lex about, that would help her translate the bigger book. She got it and continued the reading.

I spend the day traveling in southern islands of Ihm and came across Stella. We chated a bit.

- So you can teleport to any place of the world thanks to Master Lexonor?

- That is true.

- I must learn how to use teleport myself, so that I can make my life more easier. I can already fly, but teleporting is way more usefull.

- I can ask books about them from Lex if you want.

- If that wont bother Master Lexonor too much, then I gladly take them.

I ask about them from Lex and he lends her some books about teleportation and other stuff.

- Oh thanks Master Lexonor.

- You are welcome. Perhaps you come to find out something that I haven't thought of yet.

- I will do my best to meet your expectations.

Then I say.

- No rush.

- No, I have limited time on this world, so I must find something that can even impres Master Lexonor.

- Well, he gave you some other books, so good luck.

- Thanks, I will do my best.

Then I leave to travel some other parts of the southern islands and when I got tired, I went back to to Ehen and realized that is already midnight. I go to the place where I've been staying and Low was waiting there for me. She came close to me and hugged me for a second and said.

- Where were you. I smell other woman from your shirt. Have you been cheating on me

- I was out meeting and met up with a friend. Why are you saying stuff like that anyways? Where did you learn it?

- Amber's mother, Crimson Ruby, said that if I smell a woman on you, then you might be cheating on me.

- Did she explain what cheating meant?

- She told me that it means meeting up with other potential lovers.

- Do you know what lover is?

- She didn't explain me that part, so I'm still bit confused. What is a lover?

- A verry important person you want to spend the rest of your life with.

- Then are we lovers?

- Not exactly.

- But the description matches.

- Look, we will find you books that help you better understand that term, so just let it go for now.

- Understood. Let's go sleep dear.

- Is that another thing Crimson Ruby tought you?

- Yes. Is it wrong?

- Just don't call me a dear. And don't use everything she tought you about us.

- Understood. So we wont have intercourse?

- No we won't.

We finally go to sleep and I sleep well.

Just in case anyone who is wondering, I'm planing to keep Nor's potential love interest as something that can't be confirmed. Or at least that is the current plan anyways. If the flow get to the point that I should make a canon couple with Nor, I will sign my defeat. I know that you all have thoughts about Low becoming Nor's love interest, and I wont take that away from you. Hell, the chapter heavily implies that they will be, but I still plan it never becoming canon and it being up to the reader. I guess I need to make a bit more content with other love interests now that Low and Aktor have had some juice. Hope you enjoyed my ranting.

Sincerely
